 + 0 moreI would highly recommend that anyone needing an estimate for a roofing or siding project should contact American Home Contractors. The owner, Jon Parker, is very knowledgable and professional. He has all the manufacturer certifications that you would want from a roofing/siding contractor. He not only has the credentials of a very skilled contractor, but he appears to be a strong business manager as well. I first met Jon when he provided me with an estimate for a roofing and siding project on my home. He was extremely knowledgable and impressive. I did not hire him for our project b/c my husband and I decided to use a general contractor we had worked with several times before and had been very satisfied. However, when I needed a roofing expert to provide some advice on a new roof that another contractor had recently put on my parent's house I called Jon right away. He was extremely willing to meet with us and provide his professional advice. He spent a lot of time with us, was knowledgeable and helpful. Jon was complimentary of the other contractor's work and did not try to use the opportunity to sell us any additional services or repairs. Jon is a good guy, someone I think you would find professional and trustworthy. I would definitely call him again if I needed more work done on my house.

 + 0 moreAHC worked with us to specify all the right products and provided brochures, samples and addresses of other installations they had done so my wife and I could make educated decisions. We are thrilled with our choices. The windows came first. In less than a day the 16 old windows were removed and the new windows installed. The entire job was done without any impact to exterior siding or interior trim/paint, and when they left there was really no evidence they had been here (except for the great new windows). Everything was nailed, caulked and cleaned. If I had known replacing the windows would be so quick and easy I would have had it done years ago. Then came the siding. As the work progressed I had several questions about what was being done and why it was being done (I am an engineer), and my questions were always answered promptly and clearly. More often than not the unique methods of installation I inquired about were being followed in order to adhere to Hardie's detailed installation requirements, which they followed to the letter. And as always, there were minor changes that needed to be made as the house presented us with surprises, and in all cases AHC worked with me to find the best solutions. The finished product (windows, siding, trim, headers, shutters) is nothing short of spectacular. We absolutely love the way the house looks, and I am even happier that with the Hardie product I will probably not have to think about siding, painting, or windows for as long as I own the house. Our neighbors can't stop complimenting us on how great the house looks, and we have already recommended AHC to several of them for windows, siding or both.

 + -1 moreI called Jon Parker right after Hurricane Sandy as I had some roof damage at that time. He came right over and covered the area so it would not leak. Unfortunately, he was not available at that time last year to repair the roof so I had it done quickly by my landscaper. However, Jon and the landscaper indicated I needed to replace the roof. So I called him in June and he was able to fit me into his schedule right away that week! The old roof was torn off and the new put on in one day! Additionally the crew covered all of the gardens and did an amazing job cleaning up. The price was right and the new roof looks fabulous.

 + 0 moreWe chose them because they work directly with the company that made the siding we wanted and we looked at jobs of siding they had done. The pricing was good. I am sure there are companies that may have done it cheaper, but they would not have had a direct connection to the manufacturer and they may not have done as good a job.
Description of Work: I used American Home Contractors for siding. I don't recall the price. They also did repairs on the roof.

Two people came by after the job was done to make sure I was satisfied with it. They're easy to talk to. They came and did what they said they were going to do. They got it done. I recommend them to a neighbor of mine. They did his roof, too.

After a prior repair to the front of our home, done by another company failed to stop rain leaking into the first and second floor and our roof was damaged when storm Sandy hit New Jersey, we contacted many roofers and contractors for advice and estimates. When Jon Parker, the owner of American Home Contractors, came to our home personally, we new that we had found the right person to do all that was needed. His price was very fair and he had great knowledge about what had to be done to solve our problems He is a very pleasant, honest, and honorable person, and a joy to deal with. He started the job when he said he would. His workers arrived early each day and worked until dusk. They were very professional and cleaned up at the end of each day. We highly recommend Jon Parker and his company, American Home Contractors to anyone who needs a new roof or work done on their home and wants to employ a top quality company run by a true gentleman.
Description of Work: Another company did a repair on the front of our home during October 2012 because rain was leaking into the first and second floors. That repair was done poorly and had to be torn off and redone, because rain continued to leak into the front of the house. When the Sandy storm hit New Jersey our roof was damaged and had to be replaced. We consulted many roofers and contractors, but when we found Jon Parker of American Home contractors, we stopped looking because we knew that we found the right contractor. He came to our home personally and looked carefully at the prior failed repair and roof damage and discussed all aspects of what had to be done. He provided us with a full cost estimate that same day. He subsequently removed 2 layers of old roofing down to the bare wood and replaced it with new GAF Timberline shingles, 2 GAF attic fans and 6 stationary air vents. He removed and replaced and repainted the prior failed repair to the front of our house, that included concrete stucco board and wooden trim boards. He also replaced some sections of gutters where larger capacity was needed. He provided a dumpster at no additional charge and removed all the debris. When several small additional items needed to be attended to, he cheerfully took care of them, with no additional cost .He personally climbed a 2 story ladder to paint some interior and exterior areas that needed touching up. He did not ask for any deposit before the job began and did not ask for any payment until it was 100 percent completed to our satisfaction. Because he is a GAF Master Elite contractor, he was able to give us a 50 year warranty on our new roof that is not prorated and is transferable to a new owner when our house is sold.

 + -1 moreThe contract was signed on 12/29/12. We were told it would be a 2-3 week start time. As it turns out they put another job before ours. As time passed the weather got colder, causing more delays. They started bringing supplies on 2/14/13. Also did some setup for the project. Dumpster was supposed to arrive same day but it did not come until 2/18/13. I had asked my contact about the permit for the job. He had told me that it was applied for the week before on 2/12/13 and was not ready yet. When they started the work on 2/18/13 there was still no permit. Because it was a holiday(President's Day) I could not reach the boro to find out about the permit. On Tuesday, 02/19/13 when I contacted the boro I was informed that no one ever made any attempt to get the permit from AMC. I caught them in a lie. I knew he was lying because he did not know the location of the boro hall. After we got past this problem the work continued. It took almost 3 weeks to complete the project because of the weather. There was major damage to the shrubs and trees around the house. I had large planters outside, one of them was broken. Most of the solar lighting that was around the house was damaged. There were lots of nails left laying on the property. I am still finding them today as I plant my garden. Also, they did not use the Tyvek Air & moisture guard product listed on the contract as we discussed all during our estimate. They used a different product.
Description of Work: AMC was to remove and dispose of dampamged pre-existed siding and replace with new Tyvak and siding.

 + -1 moreJon Parker came to the house to discuss the style of windows we were considering. We had already done some research so we knew what we wanted. He showed us what he could procure for us, explained the pros and cons and gave us an estimate right there. He wrote out an invoice, gave us copies of his insurance paperwork and told us the installation carpenter would call us for an appointment to come by and measure the window openings, then the windows would be ordered. Arrangements were made to have the measurements taken and two weeks later they called to arrange an installation date. They arrived as planned, took out the old windows, installed the new ones, trimmed them in, caulked the edges and took all the debris away. The only thing he couldn't do was paint the trim strips around the window because the caulk had to dry. The trim was already primed so we painted it a few days later; not a big deal. We were very pleased with the results of the install and have been enjoying the looks of the windows and the energy savings they have given us.

 + -1 moreThe initial estimate process only took 20 minutes of our time unlike a previous estimate that took 3 hours of our time. They came in within the amount we were thinking. They were very professional. The day of the job there was a crew that came in set up and tarped the entire house. They started at 8:15 and were done by 4:45. The dumpster was picked up by the next day. There was a slight issue regarding some clean up of debris. Sent an email and the owner, Jon Parker, emailed me back and came out himself to pick up excess debris in the gutters and gave us another quote to fix our overhang at our front door. Overall the experience was impressive and we would not hesitate to refer them or use them for other areas!
