Herb Settle Heating & Air Cond

Herb Settle should be your HVAC guy. He was unbelievably helpful, friendly, and professional. He even fixed problems in addition to what we outlined in our contract because he was looking out for us. His price was the cheapest of the quotes I received prior to the job, and I have no doubt that the quality of the work was the best one could ask for. We will be using Herb for ALL of our future HVAC needs, he was sensational.

It went perfectly. Everything from trouble shooting, providing fix or replace options, quoting, ordering, scheduling, and completion was "say what I do, and do what I say" (my words, but hIs action). THE best contractor we have for our home and a number of investment properties!

Herb was extremely responsive and reliable. He performed the work in a timely manner and left the work area clean. His responses to questions were very fast. It is nice to deal directly with the owner.

Great!! We bought a second home in Ventnor NJ and prior to closing there were issues with the A/C. The realtor recommended an HVAC guy to go and take a look. He came back and said we needed a new compressor costing $3200. I wanted a second opinion and found Herb Settle on Angie's list. I spoke with Herb and he said he could stop by the next day. When he looked at the AC he recommended charging me for a service call before he quoted a new compressor. Well, to make a long story short he was able to get the ac running. The day we moved in it wasn't working and Herb came within an hour and diagnosed the problem as an electrical issue. The electrician confirmed Herbs diagnosis and the A/C has been working like a charm since. All i can say is we feel lucky that we found Herb. He's honest and reliable. What more could you ask for?

I contacted Herb through Angie's List. He was in immediate contact with me and stayed that way through these past few weeks. He always replied quickly to me and this was of great value. I have second home in his area and am about 7 hours away so this trust and communication was critical. From the very beginning Herb worked with us on scheduling and our busy lives did not make that easy. Herb really helped us out this past weekend by meeting with us at our house although it was not in a scheduled time for him. He came out on his weekend to look at our issues and was such a great guy. We wanted his honest assessment and he provided exactly that. He did it even one better by recommending another contractor he knows and trusts for a separate issue. This makes things really convenient for us not being local. So if you want someone who is honest, communicates really effectively, and puts his customers first, Herb is your guys. I cannot say enough good things about him.

Mr. Herb Settle was on time for the appointment and did his work. He checked everything that needs to be done and informed me on how the condition of my AC and Heating system.

I needed to replace my old HVAC system as the gas furnace was disabled due to a crack in the heat exchanger and the air conditioner had never worked since we moved in 4 years ago. Herb responded to my call and came out the next day to give me an estimate. Herb's estimate came in much lower than the other two estimates I had gotten and due to his excellent reviews on angie's list, I was confident he would do a great job at a very fair price. It took 3 days to complete the job. A day to remove the old equipment, the next day to install the furnace, the final day to install AC. Everything went very smoothly and I am very satisfied with the job Herb had done. The furnace is working very well and I can't wait to use our AC in the summer. I think the best part about Herb is that he does all the work himself so that you know the most experienced person is doing the work. Unlike bigger companies where the boss just stops by to supervise for a little while on the installations and its a crap shoot as to how much experience a tech has that comes to repair and service your equipment. I'm going to be using Herb in the future for any maintenance / repairs and I recommend giving Herb a call for all your HVAC needs.

Herb was able to recommend the best system for our property at a reasonable cost, and according to our timeline. He was able to adjust some of the details of the project to our requests, and completed the work quickly. You would never know that he removed the rusty old equipment from our attic and deck as the house was left spotless. We would certainly recommend Herb to others and would use him again ourselves.

Herb was on time and very professional , He took pictures of what he did in the attic and showed us. He carefully explained everything he did and gave us an estimate on the life of the heater and air conditioner. He read through our previous provider bills and check to se if this serviced had been done . Much to our surprise our previous large provider had not done some of the things had paid for over the last ten years, He definitely has a return customer here..

I got a list of providers who can fix A/C units, when I contacted these providers he was the ONLY one who could give me an appointment immediately and keep the appointment. He explained everything in detail and was very nice. Also, he was punctual.

I contacted Herb because my old a/c unit was not cooling properly. Herb responded quickly to my call and provided me with his professional opinion of what needed to be done for a fixed price, the same day. Herb was easy to work with and did an excellent job installing the new unit. He was able to install the new unit on my old wood platform while keep it close to the wall and out of the walkway.

My unit stopped working on Friday, July 17 at night. So on Saturday, July 18 I checked the list of local AC repair companies and Herb Settle Heating & Air Conditioning was the one I found with great ratings and also works on weekends. I called Herb around 11:30 AM and within an hour he was at my house already troubleshooting the problem. Turned out to be the emergency switch button from the furnace system. Herb did a wonderful, quick and professional job. With the high temperatures that are expected tomorrow I was so glad he was able to address my problem so quick. I totally recommend him.

The old homeowners had their AC unit installed with no room for a proper filter. Herb custom made a box for the unit to sit on that would hold the filter. He came in once to measure and once to install. The entire job took no longer than a few hours and the work looks excellent. The entire area was cleaned and a shelf that needed to be removed was put back up before he left. Overall he did excellent work for a reasonable price and I would not hesitate to recommend his services to anyone.

After waking up to a freezing house I called Herb first thing in the morning. Even though it was a snow day he assured me he would be out within an hour or so. Herb arrived ahead of schedule, very polite and extremely professional. Very knowledgable and took time to really explain what was wrong with our furnace. In only an hour Herb had troubleshot,diagnosed and fixed our furnace. We couldn't be more pleased with such a gentleman and the level of service we received!

Mr. Settle was wonderful! When we first called him about our furnace he came over the next day. He was on time, was very pleasant and very professional. He examined our heating system, showed us what was wrong with the old system (which we already knew about so we know he was truthful!) and recommended a new furnace. Our home is older and everything was 'construction grade' so they some times cut corners. He explained the proper way the furnace should have been done and how the duct work should have been run. He also said a second return air vent would help improve air circulation, since we have vaulted ceilings in our LR & DR, and help our home heat and cool more evenly. The gentleman he had working with him was also very pleasant and professional. They did great work and cleaned up afterwards. We immediately noticed that we did not have to keep our thermostat as high to keep the house warm! We would highly recommend Herb Settle Heating & AC!! He is our new contractor for both our heat & AC!

Installation was completed correctly and on schedule

During the bid process, we consulted with two large companies and Herb. All costs were comparable, but based on a neighbor's recommendation, Angie's List, and a visit with Herb, we selected his company. Our initial worry was that with an old home, with lath and plaster walls/ceilings, we would end up with multiple cracks due to the install, but Herb mentioned he had installed systems in numerous old homes and therefore was willing to guarantee the finish. To date, there are no cracks. Herb completed all the work with one other employee, with the exception of the electrical that he bid out. All work was completed in a timely manner with minimal to no impact on our lives during the install. The final results were/are superb. Each duct was perfectly installed in each room. The 3 drops from attic to the first floor are hidden perfectly in the back corner of 3 closets. He was able to push ducting between the ceiling of the first floor and the floor of the second floor in order to center the vents in the kitchen and living room. The air handler in the attic was set up to take very little room and is solidly mounted. A couple of notes that seem to set Herb Settle's company apart: -You'll always have the same couple of guys on the job site. -Takes a significant amount of pride in his work, meticulous; will not let something look like crap. -Offers a 2 year vs 1 year warranty. -Always answers calls and texts. We've run the unit all summer and it has worked perfectly.

Couldn't ask for better. Called the morning of Labor Day. By that afternoon my a/c was running fine and was reasonable billed considering the Holiday. Herb didn't try to oversell me and answered all my questions and concerns. I would definitely use him in the future.

Herb responded to my initial call within an hour. I just moved into a new residence which had a ten year old, two zone, electric heat pump system. In January 2014, one of the coldest months of the year, I received an electric bill that almost gave me heart failure. I decided then and there to convert the system to gas, since I had gas service in the house. Herb was very professional, surveyed the entire house and then suggested what would take care of my needs, including recommending a/c compressors with "coastal protection" which would weather the salt air better than the conventional ones. I decided to use Herb because he was prompt in completing his quotation and was very competitive compared to others I had contacted. He gave me a start date of July 7th and showed up as promised. He did the new installation in such a manner that we were never without air conditioning during the hot days. Herb and his assistant were very respectful of our property and cleaned up every day that he was working at our house. I would highly recommend Herb Settle, giving him an A+. I also intend to use him to do the semi-annual heating and air conditioning checks.
