"Thank you [Member Name Removed] this is what separates me and Doctor Energy Smart from the rest of the insulation industry. I am very particular on how I spend my clients money kind of like I would spend my own. Many of my potential clients tell me the horror stories that my competitors all seem to engage them on during home inspection appointments. I am glad you took my advice to go around the house and check each and every vent register for its directional qualities most HVAC companies are not careful with these and the homeowner pays a big price for that. Once you have them all correctly aimed towards the center room and down low I will come back with my thermal camera and we can see what's left to accomplish your goals. Thanks again for writing your review of my efforts"
"Thanks [Member Name Removed] and [Member name]- Sure do wish I had brought my 4 legged friend to meet yours! Remember to let me know with a report card if we got that corner spot under your kitchen , we could not get near that spot but used some extra-curricular techniques that are quite unique in this industry. I have another thought about that access if need be, but it is extreme. Glad to do it if you call in winter. I believe we got it though. ThankYou for your review . Enjoy, John"
"Thank You [Member Name Removed] - Your review demonstrates our strength in saving our client's money so they can enjoy the benefits while having money left over to spend elsewhere. Installing foam where our thermal camera says to is easy and quite effective where it comes to getting BIG results! I really appreciate you spending the time to review your experience with us! Yes we like a report card when mother nature is at her worst so we can come back for a touchup or thermal view to tighten things up if and/or needed. John"
"Hi [Member Name Removed]- Thank you for your review- where it states "hire again" means if needed -would you hire again?-not [Member Name Removed] you need us again-LOL I know that can confuse folks but so be it. You hired the best and we appreciate our client's being very discriminating on purchases- it always helps our sales when folks take the time to choose wisely- our reviews (Google and Angie's List are tops in our categories. We are Super Service winners(top 5% requirements) for multiple years now! Thanks again, John"
Hi, After much research and phone calls regarding insulation of a cold single family house in North Arlington NJ, I decided to hire Dr Energy Smart,. John was a pleasure to work with, he was very straight forward, gave great advice and suggestions,. There was no b...s..., he didnt try to pull any fast one's....unlike the other guys I had come to price the same job. So that being said....Yes...I would definitely hire him again....
"Hi [Member Name Removed]- I know you are a very busy gal with your work being out of state and your unfortunate house flooding from that frozen pipe, so I am using your experience here to tell the world of homeowners about this problem. Your freezing took place in that un-insulated crawlspace that we spray foamed, but the pipe broke at the other end of the house in your living room because it was there that thawing began. Folks, this is the real location and reason for this devastating homeowner disaster! Pipes running through basement and crawlspaces that are left (unknowingly) un-insulated, should be addressed. [Member Name Removed] recently purchased and likely would have added insulation because she happens to be a "smart" lady, but was in the process of moving in when this occurred iirc. She hired some great contractors to remodel, I met and questioned them on subjects pertaining to the renovations, and liked their answers and work. It was my pleasure to be in her sights as she is quite a discriminating homeowner! I surely wish her well with her future projects there, and hope she and her significant other takes my advice on fixing the ductwork issues in the attic. Pinched flexible ducting is a large energy loss item that we do not overlook during thermal assessments. The home inspectors do not mention these types of infractions during their inspections, and HVAC installers aren't in the business of preparing for the future results of their work. Anyway, thank-you for your review, I won't forget your situation any time soon! John"
"Hello [Member Name Removed]- My long list of advice in your small apartment was obviously mistaken and you didn't take advantage of the Angie's List $150 guaranteed refund on my service appointment, so I am quite unsure why our discussion didn't help you. Some of this is easy for me to enlighten and re-educate you(happily). First I drove 1 hour each way to service you and 1 hour back because you only wanted to know why the front of your small apartment was so cold. Your only other choice is the usual $500-$600 dollar "typical whole" home inspection which was not what you needed. I did find that hole and showed it to you with my camera. Then I showed you the leaking of your floor moldings to finalize your need- Caulking that and the hole around your hot water pipe was explained as a homeowner repair, you agreed. An additional 2-3 hours of my [Member Information Removed] time with a service charge would [Member Information Removed] incurred the "Law of Diminishing Returns" for you, and since there were no other issues as you said, I left you with the menial caulk task to save you money. My helper had to keep the car driving/moving around Hoboken during our meeting because you did not and/or were not able to provide any parking. We drove around looking for awhile before calling you.Considering this need for us would [Member Information Removed] been seen as "considerate" since we are from another county. Where it comes to your statement the service concluded with me saying to close your ducts is slightly incorrect, but my "actual advice" was to close all those "ceiling mounted" Air-Conditioning Vents in "all" your rooms during winter times, because general science states that hot air rises through them- this mostly warm winter has saved us all on heating costs. This may [Member Information Removed] temporarily undermined my statement of heat rising up and out those vents because that benefit only occurs when it stops the "conditioned heat from your baseboard system. You also know this, when {winter matters}, it will matter much more to you! I also mentioned your need for "thermal window blinds" because of that front room coldness from mother nature conduction and radiation through those many windows in that same cold frontal area! Your review is appreciated only because you took the time to write. Many of the suggestions I made such as (also) be sure to purge all air out of your hot water baseboard system when you hear the sounds I mentioned and you mentioned hearing periodically, may [Member Information Removed] also been forgotten. Hot water systems are incapable of delivering heat when air is in the piping. I give a lot of information when on-site audits are done, that no other insulation/energy-loss assessor gives(see my reviews) and 2015 (Angie's List) Energy Audit Super Service Provider AWARD! (We also got the Insulation category Award for "again" in 2015! I always would [Member Information Removed] liked to see this client take notes of those recommended simple common sense subjective energy saving tips. I always recommend them to do this for your later use. I also showed you how to get better performance for your window seals. If you needed me to clarify, I always leave a business card for any need calls at any time. I [Member Information Removed] listed here mostly all the items discussed at your home, call anytime for any further needed reminders-Just as an aside, a simple phone call explaining your unhappiness would easily [Member Information Removed] gotten you a refund directly from me since you went past and didn't use Angie's guarantee in the time frame needed. Reviewing without calling me is ok but I believe you would [Member Information Removed] liked my response much better. I take 100% pride in being the most customer satisfaction guaranteed contractor in my industry! Again thank you- John"
"Thank-You [Member Name Removed] - yes that old part of the house was basically un-insulated - your kids are gonna feel better in their bedrooms 24/7- The 12 inch crawlspace surely was a task but we are likely best known for doing what our competitors would claim as "the impossible"- Thank-You so much for taking the time to tell the homeowner world about us! John"
"Hey [Member Name Removed]- thanks for taking the time to review your pipe filled basement sill (spray foamed) maintenance room. It will be much safer for your apartment building's water feed pipes during extremely cold weather now. Enjoy and thanks again. John"
"Wow [Member Name Removed]I thank you for the opportunity to change the feel of "your home in the sky" Looking down at the rooftops of your neighbors' building tops, was quite impressive. I also as usual thank my clients for telling others of what we do for indoor comfort. Through the use of automatic heat register fans and our exclusive heat reflective foil product, your heat is now directed at you instead of rising up along those cold exterior walls. We injected our best foam into walls that would allow it, and wish you well. We will not soon forget the opportunity to serve you! Thanks, John Jim, Roberto "the NY Team""
"This well built house is now well insulated . We thank you guys for reviewing our long hard day that used most all of our types of service. The free extra services were provided to ensure our results! Enjoy! John"
"Thank You for reviewing and telling many Angie's List homeowners about the unique kind of work and results we bring to homes. Your 4 story townhouse had some very mysterious and large air infiltration leaks behind your kitchen cabinets. That is a problem for many homeowners because many pipes, wires and ducts run through those areas. We drilled and let the foam find the leaks as it expands. You mentioned the difference was night and day while we were there, we love what we do because it always makes our customers happy. Thank your maintenance man for trying to seal around the edges of things with his small can efforts, then thank him for recommending a large volume foam installer like us. It was the right choice ! Enjoy warmer mornings with your coffee in your kitchen, we evicted mother nature from your home."
"I again thank you my client for taking the time to review your experience. Once again, we found fiberglass aimed the wrong way which negates even the minimal protection that it has right from the start. In a multi- million dollar home, one would think that thermal protection would be done right. But no, the $100,000 homes are insulated just like the million dollar homes. We really liked your whole family as we spent two days there, you make America Great! Enjoy the year round comfort we installed! John"
"This review reflects a great point that needs to be made to ALL potential client's of ours.I tell most people that we may be the most expensive insulation providers they may call. There are a few good reasons for that statement. First, if someone has a very low budget, and do not care about the actual results during difficult weather times, Home Depot will be more in line with their needs. They will come and install cellulose in your attic or fiberglass mattes or the blown-in type. We avoid these unless there is incoming soffit air to be directed, meaning, without a protection material, soffit air gets blocked as unqualified installers don't understand attic ventilation needs. These products collect moisture and are temporary at best as they "pack down" over time. As our sprayed- on foam service pricing relates to other spray foam companies that buy their foam by the tractor trailer for bulk type savings, we purchase our client's foams just prior to your install. Fresh Foam chemicals matter! These companies are storing (in warehouses) the chemicals for periods of time we find to be just plain wrong. If you think about a gallon of paint can sitting in your shed for many months where its chemicals separate and become less capable of a good job result, you easily understand my point. All sprayed foam can appear the same on its outer skin, but real R-Value secrets are how it forms through the "exo-thermic process" inside . We were the first to inject existing wall foam from the interior of the house through holes the size of a dime. While all the other "experts" were shooting from the outside, we knew that the fiberglass paper facing was towards the "conditioned space" (inside) of client's homes. This allows the foam to "push " on the paper filling the wall correctly and fully in all directions. Shooting into the fibrous side was just wrong because as soon as the foam hits a material that separates it and allows too much air, the curing and hardening process begins not allowing a good flow to the bottom most area. ! With Radiant barrier reflective foil, we chose the absolute highest R-Value product, and created a technique that makes the soffit air flow correctly and contained within the rafter voids towards the peak of the roof where it can take out all the shingle heat in summer constantly. This cools the attic immensely which in turn cools the rooms below because it never gets to infiltrate the general attic space. In winter, this technique keeps very cold soffit air from entering the general attic area, keeping the warm air below from being conducted out of the home and mixing together so as to keep your home warmer in winter. We are simply re-inventing the insulation experience for homeowners, no more imagination is needed. Taking our thermal-image camera guided advice, using only high-performance insulation types not found elsewhere, and using a prioritized attack, gets BIG results. Thank You for taking the time to review both sides of my family owned and operated company. Kate is a recent graduate from Rutgers, paid in full with her tennis ability, who runs my office. Her husband Jim maintains our commercial foam 26 foot box truck with all the latest proportioning equipment, all state-of-the-art foam making machinery. Together, they make the ultimate spray foam team! Their customer service in foam quality and client relationship is well known. They care about quality like no hourly pay employee does, they are again, the reason I claim "owner operated" status. I handle all injection jobs, most thermal imaging and smaller spray jobs that other companies cannot do because they have(we all do) minimum job pricing for our commercial Rigs! Don't trust your comfort to old-fashioned insulation, your home's future is HERE! Thanks MUCH again, John"
"Hey Folks, thank you very much for the excellent description of your experience with us. Your home's walls needed my most aggressive drill to get through the unusually hard cement, It is very rare that "Big Bertha" gets out to play, LOL! Yes I am actually a rare find with the elaborate services I choose because they work! The Bedroom over the garage had its walls injected because the lower hanging fruit is a client's best option usually. We injected foam around the garage ceiling edge in hopes of slowing or stopping the cold air that flows between the ceiling beams, affecting the bedroom floor above. Just as in many homes where a bedroom sits above a garage, we can remove the garage ceiling and spray foam the underside of the floor above to great results. This entails removal and replacement of the ceiling with disposal and some down time of the garage. In many cases, the walls being injected satisfies nicely, in some homes, both tasks need to be completed depending on structure and existing insulation, Yes - having an HVAC Pro come in and getting more heat to that farthest bedroom is a good idea. Ductwork problems and cleaning should be attended to. Rooms that are mostly unused can have their registers closed, forcing more heat to more attended rooms. I have concern about seeing many home heat and AC vents being directed incorrectly.. They need to be aimed at your room center. Hopefully this will be looked at in your and all my client's homes. I certainly make it a point to find misuse of home systems, usually overlooked by homeowners AND even HVAC companies. Have a happy holiday and wish those sweet little girls a MERRY CHRISTMAS! JOHN"
"Well [Member Name Removed] I just read the best review any High Rise apartment or Condo owner could write that lets his fellow Hoboken NJ HI RISE DWELLERS and (his neighbors across the Hudson River) New Yorkers, know that comfort IS available in their living spaces. My unique technique fills the wall with styrofoam and holds the heat in like no other option of insulation. It also allows a much cooler summer comfort experience. It is the absolute safest (no VOC's) foam on the planet. And you do not have to "tear down those walls). The holes we drill are the smallest in the insulation industry (the size of a dime). People who try to save money by installing cellulose get 2 inch sized holes, and find that it settles over time, leaving the tops of the walls to regain their un-insulated characteristics in very little time. It is permanent, and because it expands into every crack and crevice inside the wall as it cures, the result is extremely noticeable. I get a great feeling doing what I do and am glad to have created another happy client. You all are my best sales people, have a very happy holiday and good luck with your family's coming birth. Thank You for taking time out of your extremely busy day for this! John, Roberto and the team that is re-inventing the home insulation industry."
"Hi folks. We found it interesting that when we injected foam into your master bedroom walls, that it oozed through all of your new window frames, outside onto your house. Sure takes the wondering out of your severely cold sleeping quarters. When foam escapes to mother nature's side of your exterior walls, it really show up as being the cause even better sometimes than my infrared camera. The sill beam was also leaking there in Queens NY so it got spray foamed yesterday also. Glad you liked our suggestions on how to guide your misplaced heating vents around that 1800 home, it will be much more comfortable and evenly heat generated, especially now that your coldest source room walls are foam filled!"
"This review was done to be helpful for the many ice damming problems that homeowners call us to fix, If you are from the Northeast USA, this last name is well known for many high end type car dealerships, so home maintenance tricks were overlooked leading to a home that needed me us to re-insulate, and guide runoff water in correct directions to make it healthy and safe again, Large icicles had formed in winter that covered a large portion in the front walkways and driveway right in front of the garage, We fully foil-wrapped the other attic areas,, and then just spray foamed the wall in the garage attic that connects to the house, This area over the (now fully unheated) garage was the culprit and source of most of the melting that lead to the mammoth icicles. Since most garages are un heated areas, our goal was to allow for a very cold roofline there, Originally we had quoted to foil wrap that roofline. but after some thought, we adjusted our plan and know we "got it". We even suggested the client dig a 2x2 foot hole deeper than the frostline(40 inches) to allow the downspouts to drain completely. Heat wires should be run along the bottom of the lower roof areas and through the gutters and even downspout. Roofers can cost a lot of money and until a visit and work is completed by us, the problem can renew each year, One fix fits all. We under-quoted this job badly but stuck to our price happily. The attic area to the other side of the house revealed massive wiring and need TLC to work around. This can occasionally happen when retrofitting high-performance insulation into homes, but we happily complete the overall task with NO raising of invoice like many contractors do. Going the extra mile is a standard always with our clients. Happy Holidays to this special client. John"
"[member name removed]- Thanks for reviewing our service and feel free to call in with a Report Card. We know our "lowest priced" fix compared to your other quotes will go a long way to a better more comfortable existence for you. It is unbelievable that an insulation installer put your fiberglass upside down. Yes it is directional, the paper side must aim towards the conditioned(heated) living space. Then they installed foam board ( a very low R-Value product, underneath,. This meant the cold air flowing through the many leak spots in the sill beam, were directed above your crawl ceiling, and happily making contact with your floor above. Happy Holidays, John"
"Yes that was a major cold source into your master bedroom, [Member name]. Another benefit will be to put warm clothes on from that very cold walk-in closet. Happy Holidays, Thank you for your business, and enjoy my many typical energy saving tips made specifically for your home. I always enjoy pointing out many saving ideas when I enter a client's home. Thanks Again, John"
"Hi [Member Name Removed]-I wish you would have expanded and reviewed the actual occurrences surrounding the work you wanted done, but thank you for taking the time to legitimize all of my all "A" reviews, they probably sound redundant to my potential new client's. No. Really. I Thank You. You being unavailable on every phase of your task, and not clearing out the extremely difficult (under front steps area) as needed, created an almost impossible task for us. (We still have not physically met, so my recommended cleanout, quoting, install and info supplied by you have been tortuous, especially where You didn't want to pay us to cleanout & provide proper access with all of our strongly needed oxygen breathing equipment by digging out the crushed cement block pieces that filled the work area. You promised to do that but left it impossible to be able to get within needed distance to reach and properly fill to completion. I offered to refund one half of your money ($350) but needed a letter to claim that would satisfy you . I offered to come back to add a free foil wrap to raise the R-VALUE but asked that you sign off on this highly underpriced (labor and materials) $700 job as a bit of a favor unfortunately, while I was there. Again, you said "I am a busy man, I cannot be there." So I asked you to leave a letter claiming full satisfaction, and you texted me a letter that stated you would judge and sign off after you came home.....Ghost customers will no longer be serviced by my company, that is one reason I truly "Thank-You". Our green industry evolving policies are important to us, to protect us from competing companies in our "used car like" industry that simply cannot compete with our online presence, or mainly, our REVIEWS and RESULTS. Your constant "on phone" mis-information policy while never being present during any of my visits was revealing. Our office is 1 hour away from your home, so the no-shows you made costed our company dearly, sir."
"Thanks for the review [Member name removed]. I sometimes change my plans to create the absolute best results, your kitchen will benefit greatly from my evolving techniques. Not every home needs the same type and placement of foam. Happy Holidays! John"
"Hey [Member name removed]- I sure hope your HVAC guy can sort out your rental home. I like to be sure things are working as they should before insulating. Since we found all those poorly aimed heat vent registers, I suspected a need to have the rest of the system sorted out before spending your hard earned dollars, as I always do. It separates me from the many overselling contractors out there, I love "getting it Right" for all my clients. I spend your money as I would spend my own! Thanks for reviewing my fully honest endeavors! Happy Holidays, John"
"Hey [Member name removed] thanks for writing a review. I would also like to thank you for your service to society . Glad to come back and touch up those spackle for you. It seems that I do more baby rooms than anything else with injection foam. Happy holidays!"
