Broad Construction was extremely disorganized throughout the estimate process.  Scheduling anything took multiple phone calls, and when meetings finally did happen, they were utterly useless.
The first time we scheduled an appointment with them for an estimate, they literally just LOOKED at our house, despite the fact that I had made clear on the phone that we were a) looking for an estimate, b) traveling from Westchester to meet them and c) on a very tight timeframe. After looking for a few minutes at our project, they said they would need to bring their architect in order to actually provide an estimate.  
Then I made a second appointment with them and their architect so we could get an actual estimate.  I made another 2 hr roundtrip from Westchester to meet them.  The architect looked briefly at the project, then concluded that he would need and electrician to come back before they could provide an estimate.  I made arrangmenets to meet them and their electrician again at the house a few days later.
The third appointment, only the electrician (who spoke little English) showed up.  No one from Broad Construction came to explain to the electrician what they wanted him to look at.  I, not being an architect or contractor, had no idea what to tell him. 
After wasting many hours of my time, Broad Construction never even called me back with an actual estimate, despite my follow-up phone calls.  Total waste and a headache just to get an estimate.  I can't imagine how difficult they would be to actually work with.

The 3rd floor had no insulation, poor sheet rock, decades upon decades worth of paint which was peeling, and questionable electric. I did the demolition on my own so I could see the underlying structure. Joe was able to come over and look at things with an experienced eye. He helped with some of the ideas for turning storage space into more user friendly areas and he installed knee-walls and sheet-rocked everything. His carpenter modified some stock louvre doors so that we had access to the storage areas. The room ceiling was raised a bit and new electric, including recessed lights were installed. They handled the transportation of sheet rock through a 3rd floor window, so this relieved us of having dents and scratches in the interior. The carpenter was also able to use the old original door mouldings (which I had removed and stripped), so that the original style could be preserved.

Excellent work; helped with difficult town approval and permit process; totally respectful of my budget constraints; worked with me to achieve stellar results!

He came out and told me it would be approximately $700 and that he would send me an estimate. I never got the estimate. I have called him four times and he has never even given me the consideration of a phone call.

THEY WERE MUCH MORE RESPONSIVE THAN ANY OTHER COMPANY, THEY CAME OUT AND GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE THE SAME DAY THAT I CALLED THEM. THEY WERE VERY PLEASANT AND GREAT TO WORK WITH. I WOULD HIRE THEM AGAIN IN A SECOND.

THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB. THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL. THEY GOT THE JOB DONE IN A TIMELY MANNER. THEY HAULED AWAY ALL THE TRASH. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THEM TO OTHERS.
