Jeff explained the process and recommendation to support the existing posts with additional wood on either side, sealed and screwed in to support the partially split existing posts. Job was done quickly and thoroughly, they even fixed some loose nail pops across the entire deck.

The job was done quickly and professionally.  Jeff and his guys did a very neat job - the deck looks 100% better!  While it wasn't a huge job - it was enough for me to know they do quality work.  I will definitely call them again for any future projects.

Jeff came out. showed pictures of previous jobs.  We had to wait a bit for them to start the project however, once they did it was done thoroughly by an excellent crew who knew what they were doing.  They arrived prompltly at 7 and lefft each day at 3pm

I found Jeff's company on the internet.  I googled porch repair and he popped up with great reviews.  I called the phone number on the website and he answered immediately.  He came to my house that evening and gave me a quotation within a few days.  I was in a panic mode to get the work done quickly as my son's high school graduation party was only a few weeks away.  My husband had intentions of doing it himself and it was a much bigger project than he expected.  Jeff suggested that we replace the rails with vinyl which is what we did.   Initially Jeff thought the support posts were still fine, but when he started the job he found that if we didn't replace them then, that we would need to replace them in the immediate future.  He communicated all of this to me while I was on my way to North Carolina.  We made the decision right away to definitely do it right and get it done then.  We came home a few days later and pulled up to the front of our house and was amazed at how nice that it looked.  Jeff did all of this in a time frame from our initial contact within 2 weeks.  He accepted my verbal ok to proceed with the additional work with just having the initial deposit.  I would definitely hire him again.

We decided to postpone building the roof.  We just had the deck refinished and repaired.

excellent.  Only complaint is that the discount was not honored.  Still average cost so they were used.

We had spoken to and gotten quotes from several other contractors but were impressed with Jeff's professionalism and willing to listen to what we wanted as well as suggesting options such as types of different railing systems he could use.  The deck was a single level 20 feet by 20 feet with several sets of steps and columns and a build-in bench.  We initially contacted him at the beginning of May and he provided a quote soon after.  Being a little cautious, we requested several changes and clarifications to the proposal over the next couple of weeks until we were sure the proposal was detailed enough to represent what we wanted.  There was a small miscommunication early in the process but otherwise, each of our request was answered very quickly and clearly.  He was very responsive and accommodating each time.  I will also say that he did not look to add to the price every time we asked for details on these minor changes to the construction.

This is probably high season for deck building but I never had a problem contacting Jeff or his assistant through the proposal process and we settled on the design by mid-May.  He told us from the start that his current backlog was about 4-6 weeks and he would start the job in late-June.  We were fine with that timing and did not feel the need to push to do it any sooner.  (Note: Suggest to anyone who's planning a reasonably sized deck realize that your township may require not only a building permit but likely two on-site inspections -- one for footings and another for the framing before the deck is installed). 

Timing for the entire project including using 2 or 4 men at varying times: demolition of the old deck, footings (delayed due to high water table requiring a second inspection), framing, decking, railing and installing a built-in bench was completed in less than 4 weeks (no week-end or July 4th holiday work).  

I was impressed with the workmanship of the people he used for the construction. His lead carpenter, John was very good at what he does and seems to really enjoy his work.  We left it to him to build a bench/table we wanted with some ideas we had and he exceeded our expectations with the final design.  It was well thought out and very sturdy.  All the workers were very pleasant and cleaned-up the area at the end of each day.

In terms a price, he gave us a very competitive proposal that we were happy with and worked within our budget. Besides the price, the main reason we picked him was his attitude and willingness to listen.  We were very happy with the end result and the price we paid.  He only requested a small adjustment when we agreed to a small change in the construction.  The work was done with a high level of professionalism and is whole team was very interested in keep the customer happy. 

There are a few comments to know when using Jeff Bowen:  His deck drawings were not the most exact which caused some of the early delay to ensure we got what we wanted.  He also manages the project and ensures everything is progressing although he is not on site the entire time,  (but not really needed).   

Overall I would have no problem recommending Jeff Bowen for a deck project. Thanks again to Jeff.

We got a bid from them last year for the deck but we are not going with them.  At the time, our air conditioner gave up and so we had our air conditioner replaced instead of getting the deck.  It wasn’t that we didn’t like any of the people who gave the bid; it’s just that we gave up on that because we have to have the air conditioner done.  We had referrals from family members on The Great American Deck Builders.   His presentation was an A.  His promptness was an A.

the owner of the company called to  tell me when they would arrive. They arrived on time and immediately began the work. I did
not notice any of the workers sitting around drinking coffee and/or talking. They appeared to be working all the time they were here. They were courteous and did more than was required: moving outdoor furniture, etc. I would definitely refer them to others and I would hire them again for other projects.

They were excellent. They were fast and effecient and obviously took pride in their work. The end result is a solid, beautiful looking deck that I am extremely proud of.

It's been three weeks and I have had a really hard time contacting them.

Jeff was quick to come by and was very professional. Any communications after the initial visit were responded to promptly. His proposal was very competitive, and from looking at his website, he seemed to do high quality work. Even though my wife and I didn't get the work done at this time, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to friends or family in the future.

I liked my whole experience.  I particularly liked dealing with Jeff  Bowen, who is the owner. He did everything he said he was going to do and he did not push me to do more than I wanted to. He was very clear on what he was going to do and he came in on time. It took about 4 days. His crew was also great to work with.  We had a problem with the sump pump later on and he came out the next day to fix the problem and he answered my call immediately.

This was among the best experiences I have ever had with a contractor.  Jeff came to survey the job, provided samples of materials and then submitted a detailed bid, in a timely fashion.   He took the time to discuss the details of various materials and the relative merits of each.  He explained how the job would proceed and the length of time the project would require.
We wanted to replace the existing deck with synthetic materials, but retain the exact design.  Jeff explained that the synthetics could not be used for certain elements of the deck--our particular railing--but that by combining the synthetics with treated lumber we could achieve a very close approximation of the deck we had.  We agreed to go forward with the project and provided a first payment.
Within a few days the deconstruction of the existing deck was complete--clean.  Jeff was there to supervise and do some of the work himself.  His crew was polite and pleasant.  
Then the new materials arrived, and construction began.  Two days into the work, we had a major snow storm.  Jeff called to explain that they would need to wait till the snow melted off.  Another snow added to the delay.but after a week, Jeff was on the phone to say they would be ready to start in a few days, as soon as the bitter cold wind chills were over.  True to his word, the crew arrived the next week, despite the temperature being barely above freezing.   In a few days the job was done.
The finished product looks great and we are looking forward to enjoying it this summer.  We have already begun to plan some new projects with Jeff.  We will surely recommend him to others.

This is the second decking job we had done by Jeff Bowen. The first was a new back deck completed a year and a half ago.Jeff's price on the new job was very fair, and he did a great job on the new front deck. We have been getting compliments from neighbors on the look of the new front porch and stairs. Jeff and his work crew are very pleasant, and their workmanship is excellent.
