They were late for the estimate, therefore I called to see what was going on and I was told the crews van broke down, I felt I should have been notified of the problem. Eventually they arrived to do the estimate.
I was told after paying the $95.00 for the estimate I would receive the total estimate in two weeks, several weeks had gone by and I was told the paper work got lost in the shuffle. I was told they would follow up and I would receive a phone call, however this never happened on several occasions. I felt as if I was being brushed off and my business didn't matter to them.
Eventually by mid January I called to have my estimate payment returned to me and I was told I would receive it in the mail in 3-4 days. I never received the refund, I called again and was given another excuse (manager was sick).. I still haven't received the refund..
I'm disgusted with the way I've being treated by this company!

Went fine, and they are coming back on April 19 to do some additional work.  In calling around, they are not the cheapest but seem to have a good reputation overall.
A grade A service would have been honoring an already scheduled appointment time, rather than scheduling emergencies and then rescheduling confirmed service appointment.

They were very professional, introduced themselves upon arrival and presented a business card. put down drop clothes around the work area and brought in a large vacuum to control any dust. Proceeded to perform their work. upon completion, asked if I would like to check out the work and ask any questions. I inspected the work, all questions were answered, work area was cleaned up and the place was left in cleaner condition then when they arrived. Workmen were very courteous and knowledgeable.

I would never do business with this company again and counsel all my friends to stay away.  Why? We spent over 10K with them.  We needed our fireplace torn down inside and rebuilt and a wood stove installed.  That seemed to go relatively well although there were fits and starts and it was challenging to nail down the true scope of work, and document it specifically.  Trying to get a call back from the owner or empowered manager was painful. Three year in it leaked.  Chimney cap installed.  After weeks of follow up.  That helped when finally installed.  Scraping the rust off and repainting my stove was a pain.  Took forever for them to take accountability and remediate. Leaks again a year later.  Chimsaver and weep holes recommended.  Paid for that work, work completed. Leaks again a year later.  The manager comes out and we learn the chimsaver/weep hole work that was billed and paid for was never completed.  (Not sure what they did that day).  Chimsaver/weep hole work performed again and wood stove scraped and painted again. I've heard other horror stories but as that's hearsay I can't comment. I would never do business with them again.
Response from Homestead Chimney Inc
"We provided the customer with a full proposal outlining the work needed to totally restore the woodstove/fireplace/chimney. The customer decided to only some of the recommended repairs even though we suggested that all work be completed to insure a proper restoration of their system. The customer chose not to have any of the exterior/waterproofing work completed and only have a new insert/stove and liner installed. We cautioned them as to the fact that there would still be a water leakage problem, however, the customer stated that they would have that work completed in the future. We received a call from the customer the following year. Customer stated that the chimney leaked and caused rusting on the new stove and she wants it replaced. We then pulled her records and saw that she refused to have the waterproofing/chimney cap/exterior work performed and once again explained to her as to why she still had a water/moisture problem with here chimney. Sent the foreman out to confirm what we already suspected. Customer then decided to still only have some of the exterior work performed, plus, we refinished the exterior of her stove as a courtesy to her at no charge! We then received another call regarding the chimney still leaking water and once again suggested that the remaining work be performed Customer was mistaken, thinking that she paid for the installation of the ventubes and waterproofing, when she actually only contracted to have a chimney cap installed. After going over our original contract with the customer, she then finally agreed to have all recommended work completed and has not had a problem , to our knowledge, since then. Had the customer contracted us to perform all of the original recommended work, there would not have been a problem. She decided to have the work completed in a "piece meal" type of way and blamed our company for her problems as a result from her not contracting us to provide her with all the necessary work needed."

We received a call the day prior to our appointment to confirm the date and time of the crew's arrival. The crew arrived as scheduled and quickly got to work. They setup drop cloths to keep the area surrounding the fireplace clean and free of debris. They were careful in removing the fireplace panels and installing the new one. The crew was friendly and professional and performed their work in a very efficient, clean, and timely manner. We have used Homestead in the past for performing fireplace inspections and we intend to use them again for future inspections and fireplace/chimney repairs.
