About us

Dedicated to your home comfort since 1970. The roots of McCarthy’s One Hour start when John McCarthy Sr. was let go in 1970 from his first job with a small air conditioner repair company – for refusing to overcharge a customer. John took advice from his wife Mary Kay and mother-in-law and started his own business. Armed with only $200 in working capital and an old rusty truck he purchased from his banker, he set out to serve the heating, air conditioning and overall home comfort needs of Omaha residents. Mary Kay was with him every step of the way, taking phone calls and setting appointments to keep her husband busy. Together, they worked long hours, paid careful attention to details, and followed a simple motto that remains a focal point of the company today: “Urgency and accountability: every detail is important, and it’s everybody’s job to get it right.” After many years of service McCarthy's One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning is still servicing the Omaha metro area with about 45 employees. John and Mary Kay McCarthy are still very much apart of the business; Mary Kay still helps in the call center and John Sr is there to help in training the technicians to uphold their high standards.

The people I talked to on the phone about my thermostat were very polite and patient with me. I had never had a thermostat like this one and kept thinking that the problem was with how I was setting it. The repairmen who came to my house were very courteous, explained what they were doing, and why. When the problem turned out to be something different than thought, the repairman found he did not have that part on his truck. He called another truck to bring the part, and probably worked past quitting time to complete the repair. I was really grateful because as usual I had put the repair off until the last minute and the forecast was for very cold weather the next day.

They looked at my air conditioning unit because it wouldn t come on. I thought I was going to have to pay thousands of dollars just to stay cool. I was so devastated, but when he came out and told me it was some little sensor on the inside of my thermostat I was relieved about the price. He changed the sensor and it has worked like new again.

When the service guy comes to our house they slips on these booties before he comes in so he won t get the carpet dirty. We think that is very considerate of him. They do a good job and we would highly recommend them. They are a reputable company.

We have a yearly contract with McCarthy's one Hour Heating & Air. We only had one problem with them. The last time they were here we had to call them back because they forgot to hook the fan back up. That shouldn't of been missed but overall we liked their service.

We've used McCarthy's for a few years and they come twice a year to inspect or repair anything that's needed such as changing filters or coils etc. They are polite and reliable and our heating and air conditioning are both working well.

Our old furnace needed replaced in the middle of last winter unexpectedly. We were able to get them out right away. They said we needed to replace the old one. They worked about four hours. They took out the old one and installed the new. It works great we are very happy. I am glad they helped us immediately or we would have been cold.
