We called ahead to make sure the emergency clinic was opened since it was late on a Saturday night.  We indicated that our pet may have eaten POISON peanuts that the neighbor had outside for rodents.  They told us to bring her in.  We arrived at 9:45PM, checked in and indicated that our dog may have eaten poison peanuts, after they took all of our information, the desk attendant said ?so you are here for pet sitting??, I said no, our dog may have eaten poison.  We were asked to wait.  It wasn?t until 11:00PM before we saw a doctor, over an hour.  There was no urgency for poisoning.  However, while I waited I was able to listen to the other clients cashing out.  Bills were anywhere from $600 to $1,800 for a visit.

We saw the doctor a little after 11:00PM, she went discussed the effects of poison and didn?t think our dog ate any, however, since we had a concern out the dog not waking properly and her rear was tender, they suggested taking x-rays to see if there was damage to her organs and spine which would cost $350.00.  Damage from the poison that they didn?t think happened?  I was there for emergency poisoning; the other treatments could be seen by my regular doctor and a way way cheaper price.  I declined the additional treatments and just paid the $90.00 for the office visit.  Monday I went to our regular vet.  The bill for the same suggested services plus more (vaccinations, blood tests, etc.) was $150.  Half of what it would have cost me at the Emergency Clinic.  It?s good for emergencies; I wish they would not try to sell additional services that aren?t really required.
