Soundtronics has been in Wilmington for a long time and has always had a stellar reputation. Expense had been my issue previously, but this company is worth every penny and more. If the difference is $500 to $1,000 more to work with Soundtronics( over buying at Costco or Best Buy) GO TO SOUNDTRONICS. Also, they will do as little or as much as you wish. We arrived at the store on the Wednesday before Black Friday and the owner's son (John?) showed us televisions and told us all about the pros and cons of each. He pointed out the Black Friday deals. I asked about Costco/Best Buy/HH Gregg prices and he cheerfully said that I should go take a look. He could show me their prices (Best Buy and HH Gregg were the same) -- and he did! He told us why one television was the best value. It was a no-brainer. We bought the television immediately since we know there are limited quantities of those deals. We were less educated about sound, cables, installation options, etc., so the next week, Mike Edwards came out and sat down with us. He showed us everything that we needed to know about woofer placement, about woofer options (big and small), he guided us on sound since my husband was against surround sound; he talked about surge protectors, about placement of the equipment, you name it. He walked us through step-by-step. It turns out that if you have a closet nearby, they can install ALL of the boxes and cables in that (ours is in another room!) and see just the TV, speaker, and the woofer (which you can hide behind a plant). What was impressive was that Mike did not try to up-sell us once. We could save $400 by not choosing the smaller woofer and he was clear that we would get the same sound from each. (I ended up at the last minute deciding to spend the extra amount when he showed me the size difference as we have a small room). When Mike left, we knew exactly what was supposed to happen and how much it would cost. The installers came (Robby and Jessie) and they could have been installing at the White House -- that was the level of expertise and professionalism. BTW, our friends had Elton as an installer and they could not say enough good about him as well. They will even schedule an electrician that works in tandem (but is paid separately and for which Soundtronics does not get any percentage). Under our house they went, pulling wires where they needed to be and cutting a small hole behind the television area to put an outlet in that would be hidden by the TV itself. Our house made things very difficult, and Jessie was under there a long time finding the path for the wires. In our case it was complicated by because of the odd design of the house. They stopped and talked over the options with us. They and my husband agreed that a larger hole should be cut below the TV, which would have to be plastered over and painted. They cut the hole so neatly that the drywall guy whom we hired was able just to put the cut-out back in, paste over it and paint it in a day. Can't see a thing! I know that I sound like a gushing Polly-Anna, but these guys are that good. (And, truthfully, I'm sort of a high strung perfectionist, sure that something is going to go wrong or I'll be disappointed). Robby was not going to disappoint. In any way. He would not leave (long past 5:00 PM) until we were comfortable with everything operational. He was calm, kind and professional. He represented Soundtronics exceptionally. I forgot to mention that they had a scheduling problem and called early to let us know. Though they were much later than originally scheduled, they kept us informed and got it done that day. BTW, they will sell and configure a universal remote that you will NEVER want to give up. You may point it anywhere in the room (it's RF) or at the ceiling if you wish and it works perfectly. The commands are this easy: watch live cable. watch cable DVR. watch DVD player. A five-year old (or, in our case a 52-year old) learns it in a short five minutes. Still, if you have any problem, the installer will come back at your request. Finally, when I had a concern with the sound (I had trouble hearing dialogue crisply), Robby returned the day I called (along with Jesse) and they adjusted every possible setting until I was satisfied. He did not hurry and again, we may as well have been the White House, reflected in his professional demeanor. Robby told us to try it awhile and if we didn't love it, he would come again. The next day, the owner of Soundtronics phoned to be sure that we felt well served and that the problem had been fixed. It just doesn't get better. It might be time to add here that we live in neither Landfall, nor on Figure Eight where they configure $1- $5 million dollar homes. Again, I would not go anywhere else to buy a home theatre system. These guys have integrity, are professional, and treat every sale as an important one.
