"Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad your tenant was so pleased with the work we did! Give us a call if you need anything else!"
"Thank you for your kind words and especially thank you for all your husband does. It was great meeting you both. If you need anything else, please do not hesitate to give me a call. Have a great summer!"
"[Member name removed], Hope all is going well. If you need me to do another inspection I would be glad to do it personally. Unfortunately, sometimes the floor joist are not standard size which makes it a challenge to hold the insulation up. I can order special tiger teeth if needed. Call me if you need anything. Chris DeHart (910)520-3036"
"(removed member name). I just wanted to follow up and ensure Angie's List sent you your refund. I am sorry we were out of town when you wanted to the work completed. If you need anything else in the future, please do not hesitate to give us a shot. Have a great day!"
-Constant problems throughout the entire process.
-Emails not returned in a timely manner and some not at all
-Did not show up on days that they stated they were suppose to, and came on days that were not scheduled.
-work completed was not up to Duke Energy's standard
We were informed by the owner Chris that his crew would be starting on a specific date. The crew showed up one day before specified date without contact, then they did not show up on one of the work dates specified by the owner. Upon inspecting their work, we found multiple windows that were not sealed. They were also suppose to seal all spaces on the framing and sheathing. They only did this after my wife inspected their work and noticed that they did not seal before the insulation was put up. They had to remove the insulation, seal, and then put the insulation back up. If we never caught this it would not have been done. Had to call to get them to come back out to do what should have been done in the first place. They did come back to reseal, but did not show up on the date specified by the owner, again. They did come one day later without contact and tried to enter the back of the house without ringing the doorbell to announce that they were here.
The owner was suppose to take care of the Rebate for Duke energy. I had to hound him to send the form to me along with my final statement. He finally stated he would be over later that evening to drop off form, and guess what. He never showed up. He finally scanned the form and sent it to me while claiming to have already submitted the form. Unfortunately the form was not completely filled out, contained the wrong home address, left out our Duke Energy account number, didn't have the homeowners signature, and had the wrong installation date. (claimed it was done on 8/24/14, my first meeting with the company was on 9/4/14)
I contacted Duke Energy 2 weeks after the rebate was supposedly submitted. The Duke Energy rep stated they have no record of the rebate being submitted because its linked to your address and account number. Which as stated above, was not correct and the other was missing. As I expected, if I wanted it done right, I need to submit it myself. Thankfully i did or i may have missed the boat on the $500 rebate since there is a 90 day time limit from the installation date.
When Duke Energy field coordinator came to inspect their work, he had a list of items that needed to be addressed. He emailed the owner of the company all of the deficiencies found. No response or reply came from the owner even after I sent another email to him inquiring if they were coming back to correct their mistakes. I should have known that since we already paid for the sub standard job that there was no way they were coming back.
After receiving no response from the emails, the owner had the nerve to send us a Christmas card stating if there was anything he could do to contact him. It was laughable! Needless to say i would not recommend this company to anyone. I have saved all emails as proof of communication and lack of response from this company. Save yourself a headache and hire some one else.
It has been over a year and I still have never received a phone call from these people. The insulation that they were to secure under the house is either falling to the ground or on the ground.
Please do not use this company for any of your work. I have never opened the attic as I am afraid that I will find an inadequate job.
Find another company to do your insulation work.
to our attic, and a ridge vent to our roof (to replace gable vents). They had to cancel out the first day because of a sick worker ... understandable ... They came the next day and did all the attic work. They did a very good job. I believe that we can feel the difference already.
BUT ... the contract also called for INSTALLATION OF A RIDGE VENT on our roof the following week while we were out of town ... THIS HAS NOT BEEN DONE, though the contract amount is paid in full. I have called either Matt or
Chris every business day since 12/17, spoke briefly with each one once ... they seemed unaware
that the ridge vent work had not been done, promised to call me back after looking into, but neither has done so.
All of my subsequent daily calls have been seemingly ignored (ie., unanswered) and all voice mails unreturned ...
no way to run a business or treat a paid-in-full customer.
PS - After the attic job was done, and after we paid the balance due for the attic/roof work we asked for an estimate for some additional work, but never received anything !!! Do they not want the work? Do they have too much work? WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS BUSINESS???
Addendum to this review ... After posting this review and writing to the editors of Angie's List, I finally received a call from Chris DeHart. He explained the 3 week delay in returning any of my daily calls, and indicated that he had just spoken with the sub-contractor/roofer who was the supposed to have installed the ridge vent at the time the attic work was completed (and who has also been reviewed on Angie's List by other consumers, with mostly "A" grades). He told me that the ridge vent would be done within a few days - weather pending - and, it was. The roofer installed 20 feet of ridge vent, though the contract called for 30 feet. I wasn't home at the time the work was done, so was unable to ask him about that discrepancy (20' vs 30'). I have since written an email to Chris to talk to him about that and also to ask for statement of materials costs for possible tax credits. I have also attempted to call him ... the email remains unanswered after 8 days, and his voice mailbox was full (and so, unable to take any more messages) the last I checked. So, the work is essentially done ... the radiant barrier part of the job appears to have been done very well (I'm no expert, so its hard to tell for sure, but from a layman's perspective, it looks pretty good - no obvious gaps, plenty of additional blown-in insulation), and its obvious that our HVAC system is reacting differently to the outside temperature, though it is too early yet to determine any potential heating/cooling cost savings. The same holds true for the roof ridge vent, with the exception of the length of venting installed. I remain somewhat concerned and disappointed, though, about his lack of responsiveness to my initial calls to him (the 3 week period after the attic work was done but before the ridge vent was installed), and subsequent calls/emails (after the ridge vent installation) to request costs of materials for the attic work and ask about the discrepancy in the length of ridge vent installed.
In spring 2014 we came across all about energy solutions at a home and gar den expo in Wilmington, NC. We made an appointment for an energy audit. The energy audit was conducted on the date we set and was very informative. One of the big things noted during the energy audit was that our attic was severely under insulated. Since our house uses a gas pack our gas bills were very high. In fall 2014 we made the decision to have insulation installed in our attic by All About Energy Solutions based on the professionalism and expertise during the energy audit. We call Chris to setup a time to have the installation installed, to or surprise he was able to come install the insulation that week, before the next cold spell of the year. Chris and the team arrived on time, discussed details of the installation and went to work. Chris also performed another energy audit while the attic was being sealed and the installation was being installed. When the team encounter problems not related to the insulation installation they stopped and got me involved and offered solutions to the problems. Within a couple of hours, the job was complete. The crew left the area cleaner than they found it. After the installation was complete and post inspection was conducted and everything was done with quality.
Overall I am completely satisfied with my experience with All About Energy Solutions. They did an excellent job with the install and the quality shows. I would recommended them to anyone. The crew was very professional and they completed the work safely, with quality and on time. As a Safety Professional, I appreciate a company that takes pride in doing things the right way as all employees were very safety minded and wore the proper Personal Protective Equipment during the install.
The workspace was generally kept tidy. My only complaint was that the team had to walk through the main house on bamboo floors sometimes with dirty boots or wet boots and no precautions were taken to minimize the mess onn the floors. In hindsight I should have asked them to put paper on the floor.
Overall the company performed well. They did what they said, when they said for the agreeed upon price. At times going beyond the basics and offetring help. Iam disabled and appreciate the small kindnesses Chris and his team showed me.
Chris also provided referrals to other companies for unrelated work I need to have completed. Those referrals mean a lot as I am pleased with the ethics and value his compny provided me and am confident he wouls send me only to similarly aligned firms.
Knowledgeable and responsive staff.
They arrived on time for the original assessment of our home insulation needs. We have 130 year old house that leaks (leaked) like a sieve. Everything was explained to us in detail before hand, the most cost effective plan was developed by Matt and they were quick to set up an immediate date for the work. Chris and Matt even went beyond the scope of the attic insulation and at our request demolished an old chimney to make it a more effective project.
The guys were great, showed up on time, careful and courteous. It took them two days to finish the job right on schedule and they went above and beyond whatever was necessary to complete the job while sticking to the original budget.
The house already feels better and I know we will reap the benefits of the correct insulation this coming cold weekend and the coming winter.
Chris and Matt have a real passion for their work and want to take the time to ensure that the job is completed the 'right way'.
we could not be happier.
"It was a pleasure working on your home and exceeding your expectations. I hope those contractors we referred to you work out. If you need anything else, please do not hesitate to give us a call."
"Thank you for the kind words and trusting us with your home. If you need anything else at all, please do not hesitate to call!"
"Thank you for the kind words [member name removed] and I was glad to help you out. You had the highest energy bill per square foot that I have ever seen and I cannot wait to see your next couple months bills. I am confident you will see a return on your investment in 11 months. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to give us a call. Thank you for the referral of your neighbor as well, I will be sending you a check for it this week."
"It was a pleasure meeting you [member name removed] and hearing all of your amazing stories of your life. I'm glad you will never have to worry about the insulation in your crawl space again. If you have any other questions, please feel free to give us a call."
was suppose to get a 500.00 rebate from Duke/Progress Energy (listed in the work order).
after MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS to contact the owner, he FINALLY answered his phone and indicated that the paper work for the rebate was being processed (that was 2 weeks ago---- 21Sep2014)....as of 07Oct2014 the rebate has not and WILL NOT be paid!!!!!!
Spoke with the power company on 06Oct and 07Oct was called by the power company. All About Energy Solutions has been removed as an authorized provider and per the representative, there have been multiple customers that did not receive there rebate as promised.
The Rep. also stated that there is a 90 day window after the install that the rebate can be disbursed.
Upon contact with Chris he indicated the he would pay the 500.00 out of his own pocket to meet this obligation should the power company not give the rebate.
Chris DID give me the 500.00 to meet this obligation as promised.
In mid-October i received a call from the rebate office from Duke Energy who asked if they could look at the job, with intention of pushing for the rebate to be paid (even though this was out of the 90 day window). The Duke Rep. showed up as planned...completed the inspection and stated that he was satisfied and the job met the rebate standards. The rep. stated that the he was sure they could make the rebate work even though the 90 day window was closed.
The 500.00 rebate was disbursed on 30Nov2014. I returned the 500.00 to Chris on 01Dec2014.
All is well that ends well and i do appreciate Chris stepping up and making this right.
The install is working well and the power bills have declined dramatically since the install. Without all the issues of the rebate and calls sometimes not returned.......this would be a A+++ rating
I hope this company does well and i would recommend them in the future.
"Thank you for the kind words. I look forward to you kicking my butt on the golf course again soom."
"I am very surprised by your reveiw. We insulated your mothers attic perfectly and you should receive your rebate any day. As for the crawl space we removed all of the insulation, cleaned off all mold, replaced with new insulation and even installed a 6 mil vapor barrier for you. All of this work was done to your satisfaction and I have emails from you saying so. Where we have a disagreement is in the FREE insulation around your duct work we did for you. My HVAC contractor that I had come out for you says it was done 100% correct but unfortunatly your HVAC contractor, (who was almost double in price) states that it was done incorrectly. I think it is very unfortunate that you can post a negative review like this and requests compensation to have it removed. Angie's List does not remove reveiws nor will we pay to have it removed. We are a super service award winning company with Angie's List and are having a record year because we always go above and beyond for our customers. We apologize that another HVAC company is taking advantage of you and would recommend using an Angie's List contractor like we refferred to you next time. We are more than confident that your mothers house is better insulated than it ever has been before. We hope you finish the remodel on time and can get your mother in there before this cold weather comes."
"Thanks for the kind words Mr. [Member]. If you need anything else, please do not hesitate to call."
"[removed member name], thank you for the review and being a great customer over the years. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to call. Have a great week!"
"[removed member name], I am happy we have been able to much such a difference in your energy bill and keeping you comfortable in that beautiful house. Sorry the contractor we referred to you didn't work out, we will definitely not being using him anymore. If you find any other lights that you need changing, please do not hesitate to call. (910) 520-3036."
"Thank you for trusting your house with us and it was a pleasure meeting you both. If you need any help with getting that ridge vent cut in, please do not hesitate to call. Alison and Brayden say hello."
