Snappy Lube

My experience here was very refreshing. They changed my oil and checked everything on my car.

A couple months ago I had the complete auto transmission service done on my 2006 F-150 that had about 49,000 miles on it at that time. The owners manual specifies only Mercon V transmission fluid be used. Last week on vacation, we experienced what seems to be a transmission shudder.
Please be advised that Snappy Lube does not use Mercon V. Instead they use Dexron/Mercon and then add an additive that is supposed to make it equal to Mercon V. These products are manufactured by Heartland. It is my understanding that Jiffy Lube uses the same products.
Also, when they do the complete transmission service, they do not drop the pan and change the filter. Instead they rely on their change/flush system to backwash the system.
After speaking with Heartland, they asked me to take the truck back to the Snappy lube and have a sample drawn which would be shipped to Heartland to check for the additive, which I did yesterday. Today, the Snappy Lube called me to tell me that Heartland told them to just hold onto the sample, which I was not happy about.
The manual in my truck's glove glove box says to use only Mercon V in the transmission. I have read a report online about transmission shudder occuring after Dexron/Mercon with an additive being used and transmission shudder occurring afterwards, which was reported to have stopped after they had the fluid replaced with Mercon V.
I just wish they had been upfront about not using Mercon V.

The staff at this Snappy Lube did a very professional job. They did not try to talk me into any unneeded services.

I have recently had less than ideal experiences at the Texaco fast lube in Knightdale, and at the Victory Lane in Zebulon.

I have used this Snappy Lube in the past also. In the future I will drive a little further to patronize the Snappy Lube in Wendell.
