 + -1 moreKaren was professional, respectful, encouraging, and just a "good neighbor." At the end of our visit, Karen's colleague was pricing some beautiful, unique birch-bark covered vases. I purchased one (for what seemed like a very reasonable cost, to me), and am looking at it, full of flowers, right now! I am glad we met Karen and will encourage anyone who lives in or near Weaverville, NC to patronize this small business owner who cares about her neighbors enough to help out just from the goodness of her heart.
Description of Work: I am a job developer/ advocate for people who have disabilities. I contacted Karen Paradis to request her assistance in helping a local high school student (who is exploring career options) learn more about the floral industry. Karen was very nice, responsive, and generous with her time by giving this young lady a tour of her shop and teaching her about the different tasks and duties involved in running a florist.

 + -1 moreOrdered the flowers just fine, but they delivered immediately, rather than the next week as I had specified. They acknowledged their mistake, and offered a refund of the delivery charges to make up for it. $11 is NOT enough to fix the ruined surprise I had planned for my wife's birthday. To quote the lady on the phone "I've been trying to look at the dates more often, but I guess I missed yours." I'm pretty sure the date is a big deal in the world of flower delivery, so that is not a small mistake to make. I eventually received credit of my total order to be used in the future. Needless to say, outside of this credit, I will NEVER be using this florist again.
Description of Work: Ordered flowers to be delivered to my wife's workplace.

 + -1 moreMy husband said the ordering part wasn't difficult. The delivery was fast, too fast, in my opinion. Other than the absolute ugliness of the flowers and vase, it was an ok experience. As I rearranged the flowers I noticed that most of them were not single stem roses. This use of poorer quality flowers didn't help the look of the arrangement.
Description of Work: This morning at 8:00 am I heard the doorbell. It was the delivery person from Brown's Florist. I didn't go to the door because I was still in PJs at the time, so the guy put the flowers down on the table next to the front door. Unfortunately, he didn't put it on a level part of the table, and when I got there the flowers had turned over in the box and fallen out of the small vase they were in. I knew immediately they were from Brown's, because they don't design flowers, they just stick them willy nilly into whatever they are using as a vase that day. The stems were all different lengths creating a haphazard look to the flowers. In this instance, the stems of most of the roses were cut so short they didn't get down to the water level of the vase. Had they not fallen out of it, they would have died. I had to rearrange them in another vase. I keep telling my husband not to use this florist, because this is the third time I have had a horrible arrangement from them. They may have other things they do well, but arrangements for Mother's Day and Valentines are not among them. This is the third such holiday that their arrangement has dampened. I kept telling my husband not to use this florist but he keeps forgetting. Now I will remind him to use Angie's list when he calls a florist.
