I had an old Longines watch that belonged to my father-in-law that I wanted to gift to my son. I brought it to Clocktiques to be restored. They did a beautiful job with internal and external restoration and suggested a watch band that worked perfectly. I also needed the watch by a certain date and they not only completed the job on time but provided it to me earlier than expected. My son loves the watch. I highly recommend Clocktiques for anything watch related.

He fixed the Seiko quickly and perfectly, he dried it out, changed the battery and replaced the seals...works perfectly!
Description of Work: My ladies Seiko day/date got wet and started ticking erratically and slowed down. I called Clocktiques and Rick told me to bring it in immediately before the water caused more problems which was important to know. I also brought him a vintage 1969 ladies Omega watch that wasn't working...he got it ticking but advised to bring in for servicing since I hadn't used it in maybe 10-15 years...he had the best price and I will be bringing it back up to him.

The clock repair firm in Raleigh stated that a repair of the adjustment mechanism would require major rework, far exceeding the value of the clock. That individual had replaced the original sweep second hand with a plastic, "lighter weight" second hand. Rick was very professional and did not make any negative comments concerning the prior work or opinion. He did accomplish the repair with installation of a lock washer. Further, he found a problem with the new sweep second hand--and also made necessary repair. He probably spent a total of 20 minutes or more working on the clock. When I asked "how much," he said "zero." You can be sure that Clocktiques is my place for antique clock and watch repair--definitely the best in the Raleigh area!

Description of Work: I took my Howard Miller wall clock in for servicing and maintenance. I had a problem with it dinging as it was supposed to. Rick is always very nice, but I was frustrated because I had to take my clock in 3 times to get it fully repaired. After I picked it up each time, he assured me it was fixed. |Unfortunately, it wasn't fixed the first two times. |However, because of their attitude, and the fact that I do think Rick is very qualified, I will most likely use them again.

Our Herschede grandfathers clock that has been in our family for generations had stopped working about fifteen years ago. When it first broke we had another clock repair person look at the clock in which they had it for weeks and were unable to fix it. Years went by and we decided that it was just too beautiful a clock to lat dormant. We called Clocktiques who came out and looked at the clock and brought it to their shop. They took the whole clock apart and cleaned an lubricated it as well as making two gears and refinished the weights. I'm happy to say the not only does it look great it has been working flawlessly!

Description of Work: The folks at CLOCKTIQUES replaced two watch batteries for me. Additionally, they looked at a Bulova watch that hadn't been working in awhile. They found some water damage and gave me some options. Overall, I had a great experience and will be back for any watch or clock repair work I need performed.

Employee also took the time to explain the inner-workings of the watch and pointed out very inexpensive ways on how to care for and maintain the watch. Very helpful.

They're a family business. I've gone in there a number of times for batteries for watches. They've always been nice and I get immediate help. Their prices are reasonable.
Description of Work: I went in to get a battery for a watch. I also took in a wall clock on an earlier occasion. When I moved the hands were damaged & he fixed that for me.

Excellent work.
Description of Work: The story is, my dad ‘acquired’ a ship’s clock off the Liberty Ship he came back on from Europe after WWII. Or, it may have come from an uncle who worked at the Newport News Shipyard also during WWII. Either way, it’s my dad’s clock and it came to me after he died. Around 5 or 6 years ago I took it to a clock shop in Cary for cleaning and maintenance. It came back broken and never worked since. I subsequently took it to two other shops – no one was able to fix it. I also contacted two different shops on the internet. Neither was willing to fix it and both told me that replacement works were not available. Then, searching on line, I found a shop called Clocktiques in Wake Forest. The reviews for Clocktiques were all raves. The reviews are true. I took the clock in and once I described what had happened – the owner said the main spring may be ‘gummed up’ due to the typical cleaning method - which is to soak the works in a solution in an ultrasonic cleaner. He explained that often the springs will react to the solution and old dirt and debris can also remain trapped and turned into a gunk instead of being cleaned out. The correct way is to remove the spring and hand clean it. Anyway, he took the clock and said he could certainly fix it and that it would be about 8 to 10 weeks (he has a LOT of work). Here’s what he did: The spring was corroded so it was replaced. Two tuning fork jewels had been replaced at some point in the past with the wrong size and shape jewels. And even those weren’t set in properly. They were glued in instead of being enameled in. Also, the main stem was broken – probably from the ultrasonic cleaning. The replacement stem was handmade as none were available. It would have been far easier and cheaper to replace the works – but repairing the broken works was important to keep the clock fully original. End result – completely cleaned, jewels replaced, rebalanced, mainspring and stem replaced. He did NOT clean the face plate or repaint / enamel the numerals. He said that should NEVER be done as the faceplate, arms and case should be allowed to age and acquire a natural patina. The clock is beautiful, back in its place on my living room wall, and running perfectly. I'm beyond thrilled. If you have a rare, expensive, antique or clock of great sentimental value –Clocktiques is the only place to take it for repair and maintenance. Worth penny. Description of Work: We brought in a very large clock from our screen porch. It was an atomic clock, meaning that it got signals from satellite, and immediately told us that he could not fix. So we suggested to put a new quartz movement in, he said he could, and advised us that we would have to take down and set every season when times changes. He was very pleasant, courteous, and so was his wife! We will definitely use him again, also we highly recommend him.
