Let me start off by saying that both sales went well. My nightmare came with the purchase. I was given Mahala as my buyer's agent. We were buying a 1940 home, so we knew that there might be issues. We contracted with their inspector (who in full disclosure was also a friend at the time.) Turns out the inspector had also done the inspection on the exact same home when the previous owner purchased. The same report from 2.5 years prior was turned in. This was not Rachel Kendall's fault.
However, as a result of that inspection, we found there was no insulation under the house our in the attic. We asked for that to be done, but the seller refused since she had no confidence in the report. Mahala said that she talked with the inspector who agreed to take care of the insulation. I responded by email and said that if that meant that the insulation would be done at no charge, then we could proceed.
The insulation was put into the house after closing. We then began getting bills for the insulation from the inspector. He then said that there must have been a misunderstanding with Mahala and that he never agreed to do the insulation at no cost. At this point, I reached out to Mahala over and over, who kept saying that the inspector was going to cover it.
I reached out to Rachel Kendall directly via phone and email (including a copy of the email indicating that we would move forward only if the insulation was being done at no charge), and have never received a response. Neither Rachel nor Mahala will respond, and the insulation company has threatened a lien on our house. All I wanted was some accountability, for them to say this could have been handled differently. They made over $26000 in commission from me in 6 months and will not even return a phone call or email.
