Riley Remodel

The contractor that submitted the bid, did not fix  all the things he said he would.  He said he was going to paint all the house and scrape all the ceilings.  He told me we did not need a builders permit as he did not have insurance. After the work was almost completed, an inspector happened to be in the area and wanted to know if we had a builders permit.  I told him the builder said we did not need one. He said we did, to make sure it was done right. When he finished the work, the contractor admitted he had done all these jobs without getting a builders permit.  Once he finished, the inspector came over to look at his work and said it was not up to specification. He said he would have to take the roof down, so they could inspect it properly and he walked off the job.  Once we moved back into the house, I got arthritis from the level of shoebox dust in the house. In the meantime, I ended up having a stroke. We have not lived in the house since. They told me it will cost 30,000 dollars to remove all the dust properly. There are also cracks reappearing in all the work they did. This all has to be redone.
