The company owners; Jack and Chris McKinney were at first kind and very attentive at first. However as our construction project  continued this facade peeled away and thier true nature appeared. We found out that the company owner would not be building our house that his son would. Also that our house was nothing more than a stop gap project between multi million dollar projects. The overall construction was done by a wide variety of sub contractors; and for the most part , unsupervised by Chris McKinney. Our house was being built in a neighboring town som 25 miles away. We were not able to be there everyday a situation our contractor took advantage of. However surprisingly enough our house turned out, for the most part, beautifully. Our issues with these contractors is not with the structrely soundness of the house that has been varified by a building inspector. Our issues are with thier lack of attention to detail. We tried to get them to do warranty work we however for the most part were unable to get them to come out and do anything. They would not return our phone calls or emails or even respond to certified mail! Our driveway was not graded properly so water washes over our concrete pad and back into the side of the house. They would not even replace a shower that they damaged. Overall their lack of professionalism the work ethics and thier total disregard of their customers concerns make this a company I would not recommend to our worst enemies. My wife and I have consulted an attorney who told us we would probably win judgement however collecting recompense would be problematic considerig that they are based in North Carolina currently working in East Tennessee and preformed our work in Virginia; a state in which they did not renew thier license in. If you want quality builders who stand behind the work they do; stay away from McKinney builders LLC.
