As always with Bubba Watts and the Something Constructive crew, we were extremely pleased. Bubba kept us informed every step of the way (it took several days for the raccoons to vacate the premises), showed us exactly what was being done and why, and completed his usual way-above-average work in a very reasonable amount of time. We have worked with Bubba several times over the last few years, and the experience is always the same: accurate price quotes, outstanding work, and timely follow-up afterwards to make sure all is well.
Description of Work: Bubba and his crew saved us once again: we had raccoons in the attic! Bubba worked with a wildlife specialist to get the raccoons (and all that they had left behind... yuck) out of the attic, then repaired our badly damaged roof, installed a new roof cricket, re-shingled the large section of the roof that had to be repaired, and re-sealed our ancient chimney cap.

Have used Bubba with Something Constructive for several projects. Largest project to date was our master suite/laundry room addition. This included but not limited to: master closet, linen closet, laundry room, and the master suite with a cathedral ceiling. Just can not say how much we love our new and quot;retreatand quot;. Due to elevation/sloping yard issues.. Bubba did a wonderful job designing a retaining wall that would serve as the intended function and not have it take away the beauty of the job or our yard. He was very professional- listened to all our concerns and requests. Bubba is our go to guy!

Most recently, Bubba Watts at Something Constructive helped us design and remodel our master bath. This included plumbing relocation, tile, drywall, paint, HVAC work, and electrical changes. We also needed two dormers repaired and the windows replaced in an area not connected to the bathroom. They also tackled a problem throughout the house that had resulted in water stains around upstairs ceiling vents. Through scheduling, they were able to save us some money by working on multiple projects. From start to finish all work was done in a clean, professional manner and any changes were accommodated with a smile. Jeremiah Sloop, as project manager, was at the site everyday and promptly answered any questions and took care of all details. I now have a beautiful and functional master bathroom, attractive dormers, and stain free ceilings upstairs! This company comes through for me every time.
Description of Work: Something constructive just completed a master bath remodel and the repair of two dormers. Previously they have added a screened in porch and completed an unfinished large attic space at our Lake Gaston vacation home.

Several years ago a truck ran through the bridge that goes over a creek to my house. I called Something Constructive and the owner actually came over on a Saturday and fixed the bridge. The price was very fair and the work was excellent. Bridge is still there and works great. The main job that Something Constructive fixed for me was a leak in my bathroom that had gone under the house and caused mold. They had to redo my entire master bathroom and replace wood underneath the house and all the insulation. They were at my house every single day and kept me totally informed of what was going on at every step. They worked with me on the price and tried to get me the very best price for every single item. They took tons of pictures of before and after and I submitted those to my insurance company. Everyone was extremely professional and respectful to me. If they were going to be late (which was rare), they always called or texted. I was very impressed with the entire experience and will always call them for any repairs or construction projects I have. After this happened, I had a repair person come over to my house for something else and they commented that there was some moisture underneath my house. Something Constructive came over and determined that water was coming in through vents that were very low to the ground from a hill in the backyard when it rained real hard. They put up those metal half circle barrier things around the vents and monitored the crawlspace for weeks to determine that the issue was fixed. They put up fans underneath my house to dry out the insulation and have been monitoring that for awhile. They are first rate and all the employees are very friendly and professional. I would never hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Several items. 1. Repaired bridge to my house when a truck ran through it. 2. Repaired a bathroom leak. 3. Repaired underneath house when water was coming in through vents.

We talked to about six contractors. One estimate was 35% higher and a couple of the companies simply didn't seem competent. Bubba's quote was in line with some others and he seems to have a good handle on the engineering issues (e.g. we wanted a gable roof rather than shed roof which required much greater effort and design capabilities). After learning a lot from various reference books, lots of web research, and from every estimate we got, my husband created very detailed plans, including specifications on materials, before the job started. Something Constructive was more than willing to work with us and used all the materials we requested and built exactly to the plans. Any minor issues (my husband is very picky) were corrected cheerfully and promptly. The crew were all very nice and we had no qualms about leaving our house open -- they really appreciated the access to a restroom -- while we were at work. The job supervisor, Jeff, called nearly every morning if we weren't going to be home while they were on site. Bubba even came over in a pouring rain one day to help with an unrelated roofing issue! As is typical with construction, it took longer than we expected mainly due to weather and the Town of Cary inspection process. The final cost was a couple of thousand more than the original estimate because of structural requirements of the inspectors and some of the changes we made in the process.
Description of Work: Bubba and his crew built a screened porch (14' x 18') and connecting deck (12’ x 12’) for us. They coordinated all facets of the work -- construction, electrical, painting, permits, etc. We now have a beautiful high-ceilinged outdoor living space with 4 skylights, stereo speakers, fan and lighting that flows down to an open wood deck.

This company was excellent to work with. They did what they said they would do when they said they would do it and for the price quoted. In several instances they provided extra touches that would not have occurred to me. For example, they trimmed the areas where the rails met the house and even suggested a few design changes that made the porches and access to them more asthetically pleasing. All workers were polite and considerate and the job site was cleaned regularly. Bubba Watts was very patient with my questions and accommodated some minor design changes along the way. The final product is attractive and finishing details are outstanding.
Description of Work: Built covered front porch and constructed large screened in deck/porch at the back of our house. They did all construction including tie into roof, electrical installations and underpinning.
Great! My husband and I acted as the general contractor for this job, but the company owner was invaluable to us as far as help, advice and assistance. The total job took a bit longer than we wanted, but it was mostly due to scheduling between contractors for electrical and HVAC. The overall project was very cost effective and the room turned out exactly as we wanted.
Description of Work: We finished our third floor walk-up attic. This company provided the framing, insulation & drywall, in addition to building custom build-in bookshelves.

They started work on time. The owner/contractor personally came to the job almost every day to check progress, obtain feedback, and provide guidance to the work crew. The crew was timely each morning in arriving and beginning the tasks planned for the day. They were extremely focused on customer satisfaction, and made changes to the scope of work as required by the owner. The total job was estimated to take a minimum of 8 and maximum or 12 weeks, and we finished at exactly 10 weeks, even with unforeseen challenges. The work was done professionally and with great care, The few items that the owner had concerns about the finished product were quickly removed or redone in a manner that was very satisfactory. The working budget had built into it enough flexibility so that owner upgrades (within reason) were absorbed into other budget line items such that the completed job came in under budget. The owner was present to meet with each inspector required. No inspector found a single error or deficiency with the work. In fact, two inspectors told me privately that they had inspected other work performed by Something Constructive and never had any problems with their work. Especially noteworthy were three features: 1) having the staff member who handled all ordering meet the owner at each supplier's location, consult about the items and fixtures under consideration, provide guidance as to quality and durability, and insure that the proper items were ordered and delivered to the site on time to fit the schedule for the scope of work; 2) cleaning up the site at the end of each work day so the owners could live with relative ease rather than move out during the full project; and 3) making, as much as possible, the house company-ready on two occasions, once when unexpected visitors came in mid-construction and once over the Thanksgiving holiday when the whole family gathered for the weekend. As soon as funds are available, we intend to have the upper floor remodeled. We won't bother seeking bids and estimates, but will call Something Constructive immediately. We cannot imagine a more cooperative and customer friendly company to handle our remodeling needs. In fact, the staff was so helpful that they referred us to other workmen they had worked with previously on other sites for work we wanted done and was beyond the scope of what they felt qualified to handle.
Description of Work: We did an extensive remodeling, including remodeling an existing bath, adding a full bath, gutting and rebuilding both the pantry and laundry room, adding cabinets, new doors, creating a flex room from the existing living room, adding wood floors through-out the first floor, adding new electrical circuits and heating vents, removing popcorn covering from all ceilings on the first floor, adding multiple recessed can lighting and new ceiling fans, removing stair carpeting and adding treads, and changing foyer window to fixed pane to serve as display for stained glass insert. They also changed some exterior lighting, repaired exterior weather damaged wood, and painted the complete exterior of the house.

They have experienced workers and are very customer oriented. I am very happy with the work that was done and would recommend them to anyone that needs their house remodeled. Their prices are fair, but I am not comfortable disclosing the amount I paid.
Description of Work: They did remodeling work on the interior of my house including bedrooms and the living room.
They did a wonderful job. The room is beautiful and we really enjoy it. They did have to do some touch-up work on the painting. Overall, they were a little slow. One door got lost for a few weeks but I do not think it was their fault.
Description of Work: Something Constructive converted our screen porch into a sunroom. It is a sunroom that is 11 x 20 feet. They installed nine new windows. The put down a new slate floor, painted the walls, and also replaced the siding on the outside between the windows.

I was a little annoyed with them. I think they had just too much work going on with the company and a shortage of labor available in the area. All the subs seemed disappointing. Some were very hard workers but there was communication problems with all the subs and who was supervising. In the end, the outcome was excellent. It is just something I don't want to do again. There was also trouble with the getting the wrong cabinets in because nothing was put in writing.
Description of Work: I had our 800 square foot kitchen and breakfast room remodeled. I don't have the measurements for them but we had Granite counters installed across the kitchen. We had maybe twenty wooden cabinets installed. I am not sure of what the cabinets are made out of but it is a solid wood style. They also finished with tiles on the floors.

THEY ARE EXTREMELY SENSITIVE TO CUSTOMERS NEEDS AND VERY REALISTIC IN THEIR PLANNING TIME LINES. WHEN I NEEDED TO RESCHEDULE, THEY WERE VERY ACCOMMODATING. I HAD TO HAVE PEOPLE OVER TO MY HOME BEFORE THEY WERE DONE, SO THEY PUT UP TEMPORARY DRYWALL.
Description of Work: THEY HAD TO DO A COMPLETE INTERIOR REMODELING, DUE TO A LONG TERM LEAKY PIPE PROBLEM. THEY REMOVED AND REPLACED HARDWOOD FLOORING, DRYWALL, AND BATHROOM TILES.
