The Company responded within a day after purchase of the deal and an appointment was scheduled within just a few business days. They were on time, performed the service I expected and did not try to push other sales products on me. I was very pleased with the service provided and would use them again for service.

Our previous provider said we needed a new coil for our 2-year old system. Said that all of our coolant had been released because of a whole in the coil. Air Experts came and diagnosed it as a problem with our thermostat. The coil is fine and coolant levels are full. Saved us about $1,000. Very professional. Recommend to anyone.

Air Experts' price was better than other estimates and they did not try to sell me a bigger unit than we needed. Other than being slightly delayed by morning traffic, they arrived on time and worked throughout the day. They answered all my questions and cleaned up neatly. I would certainly use them again!
Description of Work: They helped me understand why it made sense not to connect our addition's HVAC system to the rest of the house's HVAC system and they replaced the heat pump. They also fixed an electrical problem related to the heat pump and installed 3 new thermostats.

It went really well. Curtis was running behind on the appt. before me and the office called and said he may be a few minutes outside the 2-4 window but shouldn't be much more than that. They were right and I appreciate d the heads up. He wore his foot protectors. My units were running really slow, so he added coolant to both which is not usually done on a diagnostic call, but he did and he changed the filters that I had as replacements. He made some good suggestions, which I immediately did upon his leaving. Im using them again for my A/C tune ups and will probably get on a maintenance plan to protect and extend the life of my units! Curtis was great and will request him to do our future work.

I am going to lay out the details exactly as they happened. I have been using AIr Experts for Service for 2 years and they have been wonderful until this past month's mishap with them. I called to get my year service done with them and the tech (BOBBY) that came out was WONDERFUL!!! Very Knowledgable and knew what he was doing. He informed me that I would need a valve replaced upstairs and the Price was $947.00. He said the office was going to order the part and someone will be out tomorrow to replace, and BTW when you call in to schedule your service appointment mention that you need your UV BULB replaced. So the following day I called the office and spoke to a lady there and asked the following questions: 1. Can you guys please break out hte price for me for labor and parts, the 947 seems to be high to replace a valve. There response NO we do not do that our price's are designed that way. 2. Can you please tell me if someone will be out today. Here response was YES, they are tied up on a job and will be out as soon as they can. Mind you it is 97 degrees out and I have a 13 month old :) 3. I need to schedule and APPT and PLEASE make sure that you guys bring a replacement bulb for the upstairs unit because BOBBY recommended. That service schedule went well. Well 6 o'clock rolls around and NO repair man at my house and NO CALL. As a business owner this REALLY BUGS me. Call your CLIENT and COMMUNICATE with them! It is a simple phone call. The following Day I have to call the office AGAIN to find out when someone is coming. They tell me they cannot make it there till tomorrow, I waited this long so no big deal. Bobby comes back and replaces the part and all is working 100%. The following day the Tech gets to my house for routine maint. I ask David where the bulb is and he says that no one has ordered a bulb. So he writes it on his paper work and I call the office. I ask them to order the Bulb and please cal me back with price. That was 7 Days ago, I have yet to receive a phone call. As a business this is unacceptable. To top this all off I find out the part that was replaced was 140.00 so they charged me the remainder in fuel/install which is OUTRAGEOUS! So lesson learned on my end and please beware! It is just a sad situation and I am sorry it ended up this way but this all could have been avoided.

David, the "air expert" went the extra mile in finding the fault in the inoperative unit. He was courteous, meticulous and knowledgeable, even going so far as to explain "mircoFarads" to me. Well done. I have used Air Experts before to install a unit and I am glad I used them again.

Great. The technician arrived on time, assessed the problem, and gave a reasonable quote. He completed the work quickly and accepted cc. What i liked was that i didn't have to pay $80 just for the visit. That doesn't make sense when you know you're going to have to pay for a repair.

I knew that my upstairs air conditioner had a slow leak and needed freon. The unit is 15 years old and needs to be replaced but I am not ready for the required cash outlay at this time. I called Air Experts early Thursday July 3rd not expecting service before the next week due to the 4th being a holiday. I explained the situation to the lady that answered the phone and she said she would check the schedule. When she came back on the phone she gave me a 2 hour time window for the same afternoon. I was blown away by the quick response and the service tech arrived at the beginning of the time window. As it turned out the unit was completely out and required almost 4 lbs of freon. There was no pressure to replace the unit and, when I asked about the cost to replace the unit, the tech told me that I would not have to replace the furnace, as I was to by another company last year, but only the coil which would save me quite a bit of money. I had already estimated that the freon and service call would run around $400 and was pleasantly surprised when that was what I was charged. I have a problem with my downstairs heating so I will be scheduling a service call with Air Experts this fall.

We woke up one morning to find it hot upstairs and our 1-year-old HVAC unit not working. Air Experts was able to deploy a technician the same day we called them. Kim was great! He quickly identified that the problem wasn't with the actual HVAC system, but an electrical problem we had that caused power to the unit to cease. It was a minor electrical issue that my husband knew how to repair, so fortunately we didn't have to call an electrician. It was VERY hot on the third floor, but Kim was patient while my husband did the electrical repair, and then he checked to ensure that the unit resumed working correctly once it got powered back on. We were very impressed with Kim and Air Experts.

Initially... it seemed to go fine. A few things (capacitors?) were "outside of tolerance" and they suggested we replace them (a few hundred $), but okay. Then... the HVAC didn't work AT ALL after their visit. 90 degrees inside the house. We called after a few days, they came back, found a "loose wire" that was fixed, and left. A week later, it wasn't working... again. We called someone else this time (who I know and trust) - who found a bad connection (the wire was behind instead of inside what it should have been in, and had an intermittent connection), added 2 pounds of freon to the system (which makes me think that it was low those 2 pounds of freon at the earlier inspection), and got it running. All in all ... the system had worked fine for the 3 years since we bought the house (and is a 5 year old system to begin with); after having the system not work after their "deal" of an inspection (which they fixed for no additional charge), *and* quit working again a week later (costing me $250 to have someone else fix it), I wouldn't go back to them.

The technicians were able to come earlier than the originally scheduled appointment, which worked out great for me. (They called first to ensure that the revised time would work.) The service technician clearly explained his findings and recommendations and answered all of my questions. Since it was determined that we needed a new A/C unit, Air Experts contacted me to schedule an appointment for a technician to come give us a free estimate on a new one. I would definitely recommend their services.

I didn't get a call back, but after a while a man came out and I saw him getting into the van. He started up the engine. We waved to each other. Great, I thought, and got into my car to move it. But instead he sat there for maybe 10 minutes, looking at his phone and writing things down. I guess he started the engine just to run the AC. So finally he opens the door and gets out and starts walking away. I call after him, and he ignores me. I run after him, calling louder, and tell him he needs to move his van. He says "in a minute." I don't remember everything about the rest of the words exchanged, except he was very rude, and was clearly in no hurry to move the van. I said I could call the towing company, and he said, "Fine--call the towing company." I went to get the number of the towing company (since he pretty much dared me to call them), but by then he was coming out to get into the van and drive it away for real. He told me something to this effect: that he pitied me, that I didn't have anything better to do with my time, that I couldn't have had a few minutes of patience instead of being such a b****. I know it contained an expression of pity for me, a lecture on having patience, and calling me a b****. What I expect from professionals is to first be aware of where they are parking when they are in a parking lot with assigned spaces, and then, if they find out that there is a problem with where they have parked, to be polite about it and move their vehicle. I have never had anyone behave this way, even if they were just friends visiting someone on the street. If I were looking for someone to do this kind of work, I would like to know how the people who provide the service behave, in addition to the quality of their work. In my opinion, how they behave toward others speaks to their character, and this particular episode did not reflect well on the character of the van driver.
Description of Work: One of their vans was performing service for a neighbor (I didn't know which one) and had parked in my space, even though there were empty visitor spaces nearby in the parking lot. I called the company and said they could call me back (left my name and number) or call the person who drove the van and have him move it. Our street is private and we (a townhouse/condo community) have an arrangement with a towing company for unauthorized parking, but I figured the company would be happy to move the van if I let them know that where it was parked was a problem for me.

My upstairs A/C unit stopped produce cool air. After simple check, the outdoor condenser unit responsible for 2nd floor seemed not running when the system calling for cool air. Called Air Expert during the weekend. They did call back half a day later to make an appointment with me for Monday (but no as they said in the voice mail that within 15 min). The other day, Kyle, the technician came. He did a quick check of the unit and replaced the capacitor to test. It seems the capacitor was the culprit. The outdoor unit ran again after replacement. Kyle did do some extra inspection to make sure nothing else is bad. He was very patient to answer my questions. The repair took about less than half an hour. The charge is $171 for the capacitor change, and additional $29 diagnostic cost, which I purchased the coupon from Angie's list. Overall the experience is very good. I am just not sure if the HVAC service companies always charge the trip fee (diagnostic) AND repair labor.

I contacted Air Experts after buying a coupon for Diagnostic Service Call. Our air conditioner had stopped blowing out cold air and worked just as a fan on a cool mode. We had very quite old system. Furnace from 1979 and a compressor from 1999 which we have not serviced during those several years that we have lived in a house. Just somehow missed or forgot that heating and cooling systems need to be serviced twice a year for most effective and prolonged life of those systems. So the Air Experts sent a technician to our house very quickly. Matt checked our compressor and told us that a capacitor broke. After capacitor could be installed he would be able to check if there is a refrigerant leak. He could do all that for a certain price which I do not remember. But he also informed us that since the EPA had changed standards for refrigerants that can be used, our system is going to become unserviceable. My husband and I discussed the situation and decided to see if we can find a good deal on a completely new system. We called the company and they quickly sent a manager to talk with us about different options they could offer to us. We ended up with a great deal and at the end of a third day we had a new air conditioner and a new furnace. It took them one day to install it! Ta-da! I need to mention that we got one more estimate before we decided to go with the Air Experts. Those guys are awesome! From manager (Patrick) to technicians (Matt, Ryan, Dillan) and office stuff (Michelle and Lisa). They are very professional. They even put plastic on their shoes when they need to go inside of a house. And they are very nice. I highly recommend them to everybody in regards to any heating/cooling issues.

The tech, Kin, identified that the compressor was not coming on reliably. He installed a "hard start kit" which got it going. He also offered to have his company research the part availability and cost of replacing the compressor if we decide to do that. He did not try to pressure me to buy the compressor. I evaluate service techs on two criteria; 1) technical ability and training 2) integrity. Kin gets high marks on both from me. If we choose to change out the compressor I would not hesitate to call Air Experts.

Update 7/6/2014: Air Experts called me the day this review posted and apologized for what happened. They further explained why the mistakes occurred, and I was happy with the professionalism of the call. No comments were made about the up selling, and from the tone/attitude when we briefly sideswiped the subject, it seems that the company truly believes in just replacing everyone's unit with a dry unit, no matter how cost-inefficient it may be to the customer. This may be because the company have chosen to not service R22 units in the future, from some comments they made. I respect their professional opinion on this, but I still believe more clear/open communication without a hidden agenda and salesmen tactics would be better for everyone. I still stand by much of what I said below, although I'm upgrading the professionalism and overall ratings to C. ____________________________________________________ This was a weird one. First, given all the recommendations for Curtis here, I requested him for our call. After purchasing the deal on Sunday, they emailed me Monday morning to call them (even though the AngiesList system already gave them my availability for the week). I called them, and they immediately scheduled me for Tuesday between 4-6pm. I asked them if this was with Curtis, and they told me that he'd moved to Virginia. Come Tuesday, it is 5:50pm and nary a whisper about the visit. I call in, and this time someone else picks up. They check up on the status of the call and she puts me on hold to figure out what has gone wrong. When she comes back, she tells me that they're going to be late, and since I'd asked for Curtis if I wanted to change my appointment to him. At this point, I'm speechless. Someone has blatantly lied to me! Unfortunately, at this point the appointment with Curtis would've been on Wednesday afternoon, so I opted for the late original appointment. Matt was our service technician. He was able to clearly diagnose the problem, but his explanation was convoluted. And unfortunately, he tried to upsell us to replacing the entire unit rather than just the compressor due to the phasing out of HCFC-22, [Air Experts] quoting a rate of $2500 for the compressor and ~$6000 for unit . Alarm bells immediately went off, it felt like a hard sale. We told him we would be getting a 2nd opinion. For our 2nd opinion, we went with Alexander Heating and Air. They came to the same diagnosis of the problem independently, which was good. But, their recommendation was to only replace the compressor. When I mentioned the HCFC-22 phase out and whether it was worth it to just replace the unit, the technician gave me a funny look and said: "They've been phasing that out for the last 15 years. It's still being manufactured. You can easily get another 10 years out of your current unit, and replace it with a non-R22 unit then.". They (Alexander Heating and Air) quoted us $1500 to replace the compressor, and just to reference another review here that stated that the price charged per lb for refridgerant by Air Experts was $135 (though Air Experts responded that it was really $85), the quote by Alexander for refridgerant was $39 per lb. All in all, I wouldn't trust Air Experts, between the lying, the up sell, and the over charging. But, they would've definitely gotten away with it if I had been less skeptical. If you get them to work on your unit, they do seem to know what they're doing, but you're probably paying for something you don't really need at a higher price than you probably should.
