The designer, Anne Harris, is excellent when meeting face to face. However, there is no follow up at all. After selecting and ordering several thousand dollars of furniture, I added three more pieces the next week to the order. Due to the lead time required by the manufacturer, it was important to me to get these additional items ordered as soon as possible. After several broken promises of providing pricing and info for me to be able to order, the items were finally ordered but now will ship a week later--July 23 because of her slow response. Anne had promised to help me find a dining table and end tables to match the rest of the furniture. She never provided any info on this after the order was placed. The next time I heard from anyone at Furnitureland South was a rather nasty note from accounting that my draft had been rejected for the second order and they were going to cancel it. The order process is online and involved a draft directly from my financial institution, I had omitted the leading zeros in the account number so it was rejected. At this point, I called the sales manager, Joel Payne, who had left a voicemail on my cell phone, and told him that I would send a check that day or he could cancel the order--either is okay with me. By then I had contacted several other furniture sales companies who priced the same items several hundred dollars less than I had paid. Joel Payne apologized for Anne's lack of responsiveness and asked for a second chance to provide good service. I agreed that another designer's help to find the table and end tables would be welcomed. Joel assured me he would have a responsive, professional designer help me. The person assigned to do this is Susan Craven Cord who called me, and I explained my needs to her. I followed up with photos of the porch on May 29. All I ever got from Susan was emails that she would work on it after meetings, etc., that she had a call into Lane Venture to see if they had a table the size I need (which didn't make any sense). Finally, I emailed Joel Payne that all I had received from Susan was emails marking time, and that if my request was too difficult I would have preferred a simple "we can't or don't want to help you" rather than wasting another week of my time. I have never heard again from either Joel Payne or Susan Cord. I ordered the chairs, pillows, and end tables from a different company at a much better price. Even though the sale was one tenth of the amount spent with Furnitureland South, their customer service is excellent. Lesson learned.
Description of Work: Purchased furniture for new screened in porch. Furniture is due to ship in July.

MY EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. WE INITIALLY ORDERED FROM FLS BECAUSE OF THEIR LOW PRICES. WELL, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. OUR INITIAL CONTACT WITH THE SALESMAN WAS FINE. HE DID NOT PRESSURE US AND WAS HAPPY TO STAY LATE AND WRITE UP ORDERS. THAT IS WHERE THE GOOD EXPERIENCE ENDED. REPEATED CALLS TO THE SALESMAN WHEN I WAS HAVING DIFFICULTIES WENT UNANSWERED. NOT ONLY HAVE THE MAJORITY OF ITEMS ARRIVED DAMAGED, BUT SOME ITEMS HAVE BEEN DELIVERED DAMAGED MULTIPLE TIMES. A DINING ROOM TABLE, FOR EXAMPLE, WAS DELIVERED DAMAGED THREE TIMES BEFORE THEY AGREED TO ORDER A NEW ONE. THE NEW TABLE ALSO ARRIVED DAMAGED! AT MY INSISTENCE FLS FINALLY REFUNDED MY MONEY FOR THE TABLE, BUT AFTER 11 MONTHS I AM BACK AT SQUARE ONE. EXPERIENCES LIKE THIS ARE PARTICULARLY DISCONCERTING AS FLS SUPPOSEDLY TAKES PRIDE IN QUALITY CONTROL. I UNDERSTAND THAT MINOR DAMAGES CAN HAPPEN, BUT THE FACT THAT ITEMS ARE DELIVERED DAMAGED MULTIPLE TIMES IS CAUSE FOR CONCERN AND UNFORGIVABLE.

BOUGHT SOFA, CHAIR & OTTOMAN THERE ABOUT 7 YEARS AGO. NEEDED NEW SLIPCOVERS AND THEY WERE THE ONLY FURNITURE COMPANY THAT STILL CARRIED THAT LINE. WHEN I ARRIVED THEY ASKED IF I WANTED A SALESPERSON TO HELP ME. YOU CAN WANDER AROUND BY YOURSELF, BUT THE PLACE IS HUGE SO I WOULD RECOMMEND LETTING THEM ASSIGN YOU SOMEONE TO HELP FIND WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. TOLD MY SALESPERSON WHAT I WANTED AND COLTON TOOK ME TO THE FABRIC SHOP AND HELPED ME PICK OUT WHAT I NEEDED. VERY EASY! ON THE WAY THERE I PASSED A KITCHEN TABLE & 4 CHAIRS THAT I LOVED, COLTON GAVE ME A PRICE IMMEDIATELY AND I BOUGHT THAT AS WELL. OTHER THAN THE TRIP (TAKES ABOUT 1 1/2 HOURS TO GET THERE) AND THE ENORMITY OF THE STORE, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM TO THOSE THAT KNOW WHAT THEY WANT, IT'S NOT THE KIND OF PLACE YOU WANT TO WANDER AROUND IN TO DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT. TAKE PICTURES OUT OF MAGAZINES AND SHOW YOUR SALESPERSON, LET THEM DO ALL THE WORK! PRICES ARE HIGHLY COMPETITIVE & FURNITURE ARRIVED WHEN PROMISED.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A FRIEND IN THE AREA TO CHECK ON YOUR ORDER IF THERE ARE PROBLEMS, OR YOU MAY HAVE TO GO BACK THERE. THEY DONT RETURN CALLS. BASICALLY DID NOT DELIVER MY ORDER FOR MONTHS. WOULD NOT RETURN REPEATED CALLS AND LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE COMPANY.
