Since 2010, my husband and I have purchased over $6,713.90 fromhe Ashley Furniture Home store in Jacksonville, North Carolina. We began purchasing all of our furniture from Ashley beginning on July 10, 2010. We purchased a king sleigh bed, dresser, king mattress, reclining chair, sofa, two end tables, storage cocktail table, painting, and multiple home accessories. On January 02, 2012, I put the DB Reclove/ Con/ Frontier/ Canyon #8860294 reclining loveseat on layaway. Our last payment for the loveseat sofa was made on August 03, 2013 and I contacted the store to set up a delivery. To our surprise, the salesman lied to us about being able to deliver to Martinsburg, West Virginia. During the phone call, I tried to set up delivery to the local Hagerstown, Maryland or Frederick, Maryland Ashley Furniture Home stores and was declined. In August 2013, I informed the staff to go ahead and order the sofa. Then I would travel down to pick the furniture up in my truck since store to store delivery was not allowed. When I called back to confirm pickup I was informed the loveseat sofa order had been cancelled without my authorization. This is when I developed the in-store credit of $977.38. To be precise, Ashley Furniture actually owes me more than the $977.38 stated because the store is not taking into account the 5 year GBS premium combo protection plan and delivery charge that we paid for and also never received or used having a grand total of $1052.96 not $977.38 the store is claiming. After the in-store credit was established, I contacted the Jacksonville Ashley store staff to have my credit balance transferred to the local Maryland Ashley Furniture stores. I was once again informed such transaction was not allowed. I contacted the Ashley store multiple times in 2013 trying to resolve this matter and could not get a phone call in return from the store manager, Bobby Kitko. I called and tried getting in touch with him on 08/03/13, three times on 08/13/13, 09/23/13, and 09/24/13. At 1120 on 08/13/15, I called the Jacksonville, NC Ashley store to confirm my in-store credit balance before traveling down on 08/15/15 to pick up items and use my in-store credit. I was informed by Laura Jones that my available credit balance was $977.38. After hanging up approximately 10 minutes later, I received a phone call back from Laura Jones informing me that the accounting department will not allow me to use my in-store credit because they have new ownership. I asked Laura when the new ownership took over and she said June 2014. Tony Powell was the previous owner of Ashley Furniture Home store with the Lent Corporation and Mr. Burk Parrott is the present owner. I asked Ms. Jones, ?why wasn?t I notified of any expiration date, why wasn?t I notified of the new ownership that would affect my account, and why did I never receive any documentation?? Ms. Jones did not have an adequate answer for any of these questions stated above. Ms. Jones informed me that Lent Corporation was the previous owner and to email cagroup@ashleyfurniture.com or call 1-800-477-2222 ext. 0. On 08/13/15 at 1235, I was told by the retail credit employee to call Shannon, the Assistant Credit Manager at 608-323-6452. I did twice and did not receive a call back on 08/13/15. Mr. Burk Parrott began ownership of Jacksonville, NC Ashley Furniture Home store in June 2014 and had an agreement of credit with the corporate office; however, as a valued customer with an in-store credit balance I was NEVER notified by either party. After searching online for help desk numbers I found another extension to call. At 1245 on 08/13/15, once again I called 1-800-477-222 ext. 5013. This extension is for Ashley Consumer Affairs and was given the new and old owner?s information. Also, I was informed I needed to call the Jacksonville, NC Chamber of Commerce for Tony Powell?s new contact information. On 08/13/15 at 1257 I called 866-864-0118 and spoke with Sherell. Sherell explained the Ashley Furniture Industries ?big umbrella? excuse of why I am not able to get my in-store credit back from Ashley Furniture Industries. Sherell told me to send a copy of my receipts and emails to the manager, David Broach. I was told to contact Mr. Broach from Ashley Furniture because ?no control over last owner, manager has to look at it, email phots@ashleygreenville.com, subject line: my name describe and contact information? (which I did). From numerous Ashley Furniture Home store employees throughout the day on 08/13/15, I was told, ??even with new ownership this money was already paid for?? Yes, I paid that money and NEVER received my product, reimbursement, or other products in the amount of my balance!! On 08/13/15, I called Ashley Furniture in Jacksonville, NC again and asked to speak with the current manager, Bobby Kitko. I was told by Laura Jones that Mr. Kitko was out of the office on vacation and wasn?t due back until Saturday, 08/15/15. At 1414, I called Mr. David Broach at 1-866-864-0118 and Nicole told me Mr. Broach was at lunch. Nicole also stated, ?Mr. Broach is the distribution manager in charge and he will call me back and to send my concerns with the receipts to photos@ashleyjacksonvillenc.com?(which I did). At 1505 on 08/13/15, I called Mr. Broach?s office and spoke with Sherell again whom told me this time that Mr. Broach is in the warehouse and he would call me back asap (I?m still waiting on both of those phone calls from Mr. Broach and it is now 08/31/15). On 08/13/15 at 1533, I called Shannon the Assistant Credit Manager at 608-323-6452 but received her voicemail once again. At 1630, I called the Ashley Furniture in Florence, South Carolina to speak with Mr. Burk Parrott. I was forwarded to his voicemail. While I was leaving Mr. Parrott a voicemail I was disconnected so I called the Ashley in Florence again. On the second call, Mr. Burk Parrott answered the phone at 1635 on 08/13/15. I explained to Mr. Parrott my current situation with his Jacksonville, NC Ashley store and he took my name, phone number, and told me he would have someone or himself call me back tomorrow (08/14/15) after he looks into it but he understands. Around 1100 on 08/14/15, I received a phone call from Laura Jones stating, ?The Jacksonville Ashley will honor your in-store credit. Please come to the customer service desk when you arrive on Saturday?. I asked Ms. Jones to please send what she just told me in an email to bmanns68@gmail.com at 1112 on 08/14/15, I received the following email: ?Mrs. Jackanicz, Per our Accounting Department, Ashley Furniture of Jacksonville will be honoring the $977.38 in store credit from the cancelled layaway. Please see Bobby Kitko at the customer service counter when you arrive on Saturday so that he can assist you. Thank You!! Laura Jones| Lead Customer Service Representative?. After hearing this news, I was happy and began traveling from Frederick, Maryland to Jacksonville, North Carolina. I arrived at the Ashley Furniture store in Jacksonville, NC on 08/15/15 at noon. I immediately went to the customer service desk and was told to wait while they notified the manager, Bobby Kitko that I was there. Mr. Kitko and I sat down and he apologized about my current frustration with the store. I told him I can quickly look around and will pick out items that add up to the $977.38 balance so I could be on my way. At 1215, Mr. Kitko showed me the email he received from Burk Parrott. After contacting Ashley Furniture Industries corporate office I continuously hear the ?big umbrella? explanation. From numerous Ashley Furniture store employees throughout the day on 08/13/15, I was told, ??even with new ownership this money was already paid for?? Yes, I paid that money and NEVER received my product, reimbursement, or other products in the amount of my balance! As of today 08/31/15, I still have not received a phone call or email from the CEO, store mangers, Distribution Managers, Corporate office consumer affairs, or Jacksonville Consumer Affairs office. The Jacksonville Ashley Furniture has new ownership and they are illegally withholding my in-store credit balance I received because they didn't deliver my initial loveseat order. The initial loveseat order was also cancelled by a staff member that I did not authorize. The bottom line is we paid Ashley Furniture $1052.96 for the #8860294 DB Reclove/ Con/ Frontier/ Canyon loveseat ($804.98) with a 5 year GBS premium combo protection plan ($69.99), a delivery charge ($99.99, sales tax $78.00) that was never received which turned into an in-store credit. We were never notified that the in-store credit would be lost if not used within one calendar year nor did we sign such agreement.
Description of Work: The Ashley Furniture in Jacksonville, NC has extremely poor customer service. Their staff is incompetent and cannot follow a direct order from their CEO. As a customer…Goodluck! I have all of my receipts, phone records, and emails from Ashley Furniture proving that I was never notified that I had to use my in-store credit within one calendar year of new ownership. I have an email stating the store would honor my credit and I am still being denied by the Ashley store. The facts are I paid Ashley Furniture in Jacksonville, NC for the #8860294 DB Reclove/ Con/ Frontier/ Canyon loveseat and never received my product! I agreed to travel down and pick up my loveseat to which I find out the staff canceled my order which is when I developed the $977.38 in-store credit. I travel down to Jacksonville, NC from Frederick, MD to use my in-store credit balance and then told I have to spend $1600 or more to be able to have my $977.38 in-store credit. Ashley Furniture has NOT followed through with my initial loveseat order. What makes them think that I would want to spend more money in their store? As I previously stated to Mr. Parrott, I will not purchase $1600 or more to receive our credit amount of $977.38 from Ashley Furniture. My husband and I did the right thing by purchasing and paying off over $6,713.90 to the Ashley Furniture in Jacksonville, NC and we never received our initial loveseat sofa product. Ashley Furniture did not act in good faith or follow through with their end of the transaction in the amount of $1052.96. I want my $977.38 in-store credit honored without any additional stipulations, a check in the amount of the stated balance, or transferred to the Frederick, Maryland Ashley Furniture store for us to use.

I continue to receive the runaround from all Ashley Furniture offices/ employees. There is a lack of communication between Ashley Furniture employees and customers. I realize Ashley Furniture stores are independently owned; however, the store should not be able to withhold a customer’s money, no matter what state. I do not appreciate how my husband and I have been treated by Ashley Furniture, especially since January 02,2012. Other customers should be warned of the terrible service I received from the Ashley Furniture store in Jacksonville, NC. Buyer BEWARE!!
