He was helpful, explained everything, and very friendly.  Only thing I had to downgrade was he was a bit late for the appt - was scheduled for between 8-11, and he was 15minuts late or so.  But, that can happen - they have always been on time in the past and certainly won't stop me from using A&E in the future.

The technician arrived on time, he did a great job and explained everything that he did.  He was neat and very polite. He explained how the $259.00 covered two visits, six months apart.
I would certainly use this company for all of my HVAC, fireplace and electrical needs in the future.

They were fine.  I don’t have anything to compare their price to as it’s the first time that I’ve had an ac repaired.  They did a good job.  They’ve come out 3 times at the beginning of summer.  I would definitely use them again in the future.

Tim came out to give us a quote to replace our HVAC system, and I was extremely impressed by him.  Tim was very knowledgeable, and took extra time to explain what needed to be done and why.  He emphasized quality, explaining the advantages to choosing a higher-than-minimum standard on equipment.  I believe that had we contracted with A&E, everything would have been done with exacting detail and precision.   We ultimately chose to go with a different contractor because they gave us a lower price, which A&E was unable to match.  Had money not been an issue, however, I would have definitely wanted to go with A&E.

Very well, Despite near 150 degree fahrenheit heat in attic.
Job was finished in 2 mornings.
Carpet and stairs were covered and protected.
All upstairs unit registers were vacuumed under for loose insulation.
Carpenter reframed attic access the following day.
Caulked and painted.

It couldn't have gone better! Contacted on a Monday to estimate repair work for a 15-year-old heat pump; A&E installed a new heat pump on Tuesday. A great product installed by a fine, young professional crew.

The owner who came to quote the repair work within hours of our initial call, spotted problems with the home's original duct work. Then he had to deliver the bad news that the repair job was going to exceed our budget. He did so professionally and compassionately. After discussion, he wrote a proposal to install a new heat pump. Although expensive (Why does everything always have to cost so much?), his proposal seemed wise and reasonable.

After almost two months the unit--which is fully warranted for 10 years--has performed faultlessly. (It was this extended warranty, made available to us at such an attractive cost that convinced us to replace the old unit.)

Outstanding.

I called A&E at 8:00 on a Monday morning after finding that I had an overflowing drain pan. I had two service technician's at my house at 9:00. They diagnosed the problem in just a couple of minutes, and were in and out in less than 45 minutes. They were polite, professional, prompt, and efficient. While they appear to have solved my problem, and were very professional in doing so, the price was excessive compared to what I have paid for HVAC services in the past. This order probably did not realistically call for two service technicians.

After a poor performance by a previous HVAC provider, my spouse and I decided to join Angie's List to find a reputable provider.  We found one with some good positive feedbacks and decided to give them a try.  I called to make an appointment and was told a technician would be at our home between 9am - 2pm.  After he did not show up or call by 220pm I called them back and asked them to confirm the appointment time.  They advised that he was running a little late but would be here shortly.  He did arrive, young man by the name of Mike, and I told him what was going on including the previous HVAC company's refusal to go in my attic and he immediately set to work.  He checked my Freon level and found it to be a pint low which he topped up to the correct level, and checked my air handling unit in the attic and cleaned the coil in that unit.  He also checked the temps of air coming out of several vents and saw that they were marginal at best.  He wrote out a service ticket and I paid him $190 and he told me that he would call me first thing next morning to see if my AC unit had performed any better.  He stated that if my unit was performing okay he would come back out and replace a defective relay in my air handling unit so the fan would not run continuously.  The next morning, July 28, I waited until past noon and I did not get a call so I called their office and was told that Mike had been dispatched to an emergency call and was running behind.  They asked me how my AC unit was doing and I told them it was not working at all.  They told me that someone would respond to my house and it may or may not be Mike, but that somebody would be here.  Since I had to go to work, I arranged for my mother-in-law to be available to let them in and I gave them her phone number and also my cell phone number if they needed to speak to me..  The next day, my mother-in-law told me that she had been called and she came to our house and let in the technician.  He did some work but my mother-in-law, being elderly, did not know what he was doing and prior to him leaving he told her that he would call me and explain the situation.  I waited all day Friday and received no phone call before going to work.  Since my wife and I were going out of town on Sunday, July 31, I had to get ready for the trip and I did not call them back because I had a lot to do and I thought they would honor their promises to call me back.  As of Tuesday night, August 2, 1115pm, we have received no phone calls.  To say that we are disappointed and unhappy is putting it mildly.  We don't mind paying a company to provide us service but we don't feel that we should have to hound them and stay on their backs in addition to paying them.  We are very understanding and realize that this time of year is especially busy for heating & air conditioning companies but they should treat their customers on a first come, first served basis and be honest with them and follow through when they make  promises.

Having made up my mind to replace my old heat pump system, I called A&E as one of the three contractors I picked out of Angie's List for estimates. They looked everything over on June 5th, having arrived at exactly the time they said they would.  I walked around with the man and as he looked at things, he explained to me what he was seeing and what he would do with it.  This included sealing all the joints in the ductwork in the attic, installation of a new concrete pad, replacement of all the ductwork in the crawlspace, replacement of some aluminum wiring with copper wiring, replacement and repositioning of the drain line, running new electrical wiring (they set up a new external junction board) and cleaning up.
When I decided to use A&E, we agreed on a date and he said it would be a 1.5 day job.
They arrived right on time on Monday the 13th, and started right in.  There were 3 or 4 men in the crew - some began work under the house, and some worked to remove the old unit and build the new concrete pad.  One guy came in and went into the attic to seal up the ductwork while it was still fairly cool in the morning - after that they did not come into the house again except to install the thermometers and train me in their use.
The crew boss stopped at one point to tell me that they had found bad connections between the ductwork and the air vents into the house, and would be replacing some of them.
When I looked out, the back yard appeared to have been bombed, and all of them were hard at work.  They stayed hard at work till about 7pm.  Then as they were cleaning up the yard, the boss came in to train me on using the thermometers.  I was confused - they surely weren't done, I'd been told it was a day and a half job!  But they were.  They said the boss told them to get it done today, period.  Given that the temps were in the high 90's, I REALLY appreciated that!
They cleaned up the mess completely, and they dug up and removed the old unsightly drain pipe.  They even took away some large packing boxes that I had, that I couldn't fit into my recycling bin.
A couple of days later, blissfully cool, I noticed that there were some outlets on one wall not working, and my computer was periodically shutting down.  Knowing they had done electrical work, I called.  Their electrician (not a subcontractor, but an employee) came right out.  One of the circuit breakers wasn't quite closed - that fixed the outlet issue.  He did some investigation on the circuitry on the computer outlet, and concluded that my UPS was failing (he was right, too - I've replaced it and had no further problems).
Then the city inspected and failed them - the markings on the electrical panel indicated that the heat pump MAY have been connected to the wrong size circuit.  Well, the markings on my electrical panel were very poor anyway - little was marked and much of it was wrong.  An electrician from A&E came right out.  Not only did he verify that the heat pump was on the correct circuit, he assisted me in marking some of the other unmarked circuits.  When the city inspected a second time, they passed with flying colors.
I'm very pleased with the work they did.  I'm also very pleased with their responsiveness, good manners, and professionalism.  And I'm delighted with the new unit - and looking forward to being as cozy warm this winter as I am comfortably cool right now.  Strongly recommended.

In this season for airconditioning repairs, i was able to get an appointment within 12 hours and was given a window of 3 hours (8-11). Russ P showed up around 9am and I explained what the problem was. He guided me through the service options and provided a very objective view of the options for me make a decision on. He immediately went to work and figured out that the capacitor was blown and the unit also took a hit from lawn-mower and that its longevity is questionable. He replaced the capacitor on one unit and serviced the other. He cleaned the water trays near the blowers and looked at mal-functioning pan.

I could've gotten away with paying lesser from other providers, than I had to, but I believe the service I received is worth what I paid. I will most certainly reach out to these guys and specifically Russ P.

We choose A&E because A)  their price on the unit we selected was lower than the same unit from another vendor, B) they were responsive but not pushy and C) they were well rated on Angie's List. There was a slight delay once we decided to go with their bid and we ended up calling them to ask for an installation date. This may have been due to the heat wave. The crew took great care to protect our home while installing the new unit and completed the installation much faster than promised. They also registered our equipment online with the manufacturer on our behalf to ensure we qualified for the full warranty. The only nit pick is they replaced our existing thermostat with a new one but did not leave the old thermostat even though I could have used it elsewhere or sold it as it was an expensive unit and only a few years old.

He said he would send me an estimate but he never did. I called him a couple of days later and he said he would get it to me tomorrow or the next day. They were very nice but they didn't do what they said they were going to do.

Serviceman arrived on time and assessed the situation within 20 minutes. He brought into the house the part that was broken, explained to me how the part was broken, and what it was supposed to be doing. He then gave me a detailed estimate for replacement parts and labor. He left to go buy the part and showed it to me when he returned - comparing the broken part with the new part. I asked for advice on the age of the system and what to expect. Everything is working fine.

The A&E technician came out to our house at the scheduled time with a phone call just prior to confirm his arrival.  I explained that the previous evening the house was not cooling down to the set temperature.  He examined the different components of our system and discovered the source of the problem in the outdoor unit.  The dual capacitor was not functioning properly and that was causing issues with the fan.  He showed my wife and I the old part (a little pop-can-sized metal piece with some prongs sticking out the top) and compared it with what one is supposed to look like.  The dual capacitor was swollen and out of range electrically, so it was not providing enough power to get the fan going properly (my layman understanding). He changed the part out and then went over the rest of our system to make sure nothing else could be contributing to the issue.  He gave us a rundown on the state of our 8-year-old system, which was that overall it was in decent shape.  He noticed some air bubbles in the refrigerant line likely from some work we had done 18 months ago that required resetting the line. He said this can sometimes lead to premature compressor failure, but that with the age of the unit it makes more sense to wait and see how things progress, since the compressor may well last till the whole unit is ready to be replaced. He mentioned a couple other items regarding our condensation lines and "float protection" at the coil (used to prevent water from overflowing in the attic unit down into the walls of the house) as possible things to think about for the future, but not critical at the current time.  We never felt any pressure from the tech to be up-sold or have any non-critical things added to our bill.  Overall it was a very pleasant experience.  The tech was knowledgeable, friendly and honest and we for sure plan on using A&E in the future for routine maintenance and any other heating-ac system issues.
