Have the company fully disclose shipping cost on the sales receipt, written on the front of the receipt and ensure that the buyer knows what the shipping cost are before excepting payment and cashing the check. I have complained to the better business Bureau and the states attorney, I would need to file a small claim to correct the way this company deals with its customers. I think that the company should be up frount with it costs, I would not recommend this company, very dishonest in its dealings..
Description of Work: Complaint Description:I ordered furniture by phone and the saleslady didnt disclose shipping charges, lead me to believe that the shipping charges were the total price . On the 29th of Apr 2011 I contacted the Home furnishing Center about purchasing some furniture for our new home( a Desk and a Dining room set). I talked to a Mrs Sally Tripp. We discussed the type and cost of the furniture that I was looking for. Once we agreed on a price I asked about shipping and she said that it would be around $700.00 dollars. I then as he what the Total cost of the furniture would be. She said that it would be $3431.00, I told her that I would place my order and send a check for that total in the mail with a letter of the Items I wanted to purchase. Two weeks later I received a phone call stating that she had figured the total wrong and that I would have to send her an additional amount of $187.00, because she figured the cost of the dining room chairs wrong. I sent out another check for that amount.( #1767 mailed 26 May 2011). Mrs Tripp said that it would be 6 to 8 weeks to receive that order and that I would be contacted when it came in. On the 21 of June I was contacted by the shipper, a Mr. Doug of M & K shipping delivery service that my order was in and that I need to pay 780.00 dollars in cash for shipping. I told him that if was paid in full. He said that he would check with the company and that this happens all the time it may be a mix up. I was called back by the driver , Mr Doug and he said that he confirmed the total for the shipping charges of $780.00. I then told him not to deliver it and that I would contact the company. I contacted Mrs Tripp on the 22 Of June and talked to her about the shipping charges, she said that she did not include the shipping as the total for my purchase. I then talked to the manager a Mr AVI he told me to look at the contract that I received and on the front it stated at the bottom of the form 'customer is requesting NHFC to contact shipper behalf of him and her'. As seen on the form that there was no shipping cost so I thought that the shipping was inclusive because there was no total shipping cost or shipping weight on the sales receipt. I then told Mr AVI that I was not paying for the shipping charges. He then directed me to the back of the sales receipt and had me note Item # 4 which states if I fail to except my purchase that I would loose all my money and furniture and this is a contract..none , He would not explain why they excepted my payment payed in full and did not place a separate shipping charge on the "contract" or total shipping weight. Why didn't the company call me instead of a 3rd party and How was I expected to trust a third party on the weight and cost when that was not stated on the "contract". Giving cash money to the shipper seems to give the thought that there is not a paper trail , all of which I stated to Mr AVI. pay up or loose your money. I don't think I will do business with this company
