Blue Moon Estate Sales usa

I am very pleased with the estate sale that Blue Moon Estate Sales conducted for me in Raleigh, NC. During the initial consultation, Ken Blue explained to me what things were most likely to sell and what things would be harder to sell. He gave an estimate for the likely gross proceeds from my sale, and was pretty much "on the money." I actually had lower expectations, so I was pleasantly surprised. The Blue Moon staff was organized and paid attention to detail. They staged my house to draw attention to the items for sale. Brian from Blue Moon took over 250 photos of the items for sale and posted them online for potential buyers to preview before the sale. (Friends and neighbors who viewed the pictures commented about what nice things I was selling.) Blue Moon also did a good job of advertising, getting people to my sale, and running the sale itself. They even put out roadside flags to keep people from parking on the grass at my home and my neighbors' homes! My experience was very positive. I would definitely recommend Blue Moon Estate Sales. (To address some comments in other reviews: My contract with Blue Moon did not include removing unsold items, however Ken gave me names of contacts who could do that for me. Also, some of my walls did get dinged and scuffed by buyers taking out large furniture and appliances, but I don't think Blue Moon can be blamed for that.)

 Chris and Terri Dickson, owners of Blue Moon Estate Sales of the Triad, did our estate sale recently in Greensboro, NC.  From the the very first interview until the last sweep of the broom and final check promptly in hand, my husband and I don’t think the entire event could have gone more smoothly, professionally, or any better.  These two people and their team are absolutely first rate and classy people.  They stand by their word and are highly ethical people; something that can be rather hard to find in today’s world of ours.  They and their team do their work efficiently, promptly, and with the utmost integrity. Plus they are just a joy to work with.  They were always early to appointments, they always conducted their work with a smile on their face and never appeared to get frazzled.  The people they hire under them share the same positive, tireless attitude and are just plain good people. The amount of work they get done in a short period of time is staggering!! But we never heard one complaint or negative comment from them or their team…. that truly amazed me.  Every time we would get anxious or a little worried about any aspect of the sale, they without fail reassured us that it would all work out just fine and guess what…. it did!  We couldn’t have been happier with the final check we received for our belongings.  They keep 35% of gross proceeds and earned every penny!

     We had a big house with 4 bedrooms, over 5100 sq.ft. on two floors & preparing to move out of state.  We put about 85% of everything we owned into the sale.  We estimate they sold over 95% of everything in the sale…. and sold many of the items FOR A HIGHER PRICE than we would have asked. Over 500 people walked through our house over three days (including one very rainy day), but they made sure no walls, floors or any part of the home were harmed.  And when the sale was over, they made sure the entire house was swept, picked up, and they even vacuumed!!

     All we can say is “WOW”!! We send you both and your wonderful team our heartfelt “Thank you and God bless”!  If you are considering doing an estate sale, don’t even hesitate to sign them up!

Disappointed. Mostly, the house was trashed. After they left, the items that were to be donated were left in the house. Empty boxes scattered in every room. Trash about. I found a sterling silver piece amongst the trash. At the end of the sale (which did not go well and many items left unsold) they left them where and as they were. Not boxed. The place was not swept clean. In reviewing the receipts, several items they haggled on and took well below the agreed % without my permission. A piece I said was a firm price they took less. Several pieces of vintage or designer clothing that were individually marked are unaccounted for. I assume they sold for regular used clothing prices. It is not clear why so much was unsold - pricing off? Overall a less than satisfactory experience.

We recently bought a smaller house and listed our old one for sale. Needing to down-size is never easy but hiring Blue Moon made it stress free. Keith and Lee Rhea are the compassionate, knowledgeable and very efficient owners of this franchise. Never having done this before, from the outset we were in good hands. They explained the process, took pictures of everything for the promotion of the sale weekend and once we had moved out of the house, came out to price and arrange everything. I was able to add and delete items as our move progressed and I always felt relaxed about the whole process.

We were able to designate organizations for donations and they basically took care of everything from start to finish. They left the house clean so it remained "show-ready" during the sale and after. We received our proceeds 4 days after the sale and I will say it loud and clear....THE PERCENTAGE THEY TAKE IS NOTHING COMPARED TO THE PEACE OF MIND I HAD THROUGHOUT THE MOVE.

We don't plan to move again but I would recommend them highly. You may be able to get rid of stuff on your own but why add that nuisance to an already stressful life situation.

This is the only way that I would handle a move or a large house sale. I would never have a garage sale. Ken took care of everything from the advertising to the pricing to the sales. There was no haggling or price discussions. His staff was friendly, competent and easy to work with both prior to and during the sale. After the sale, Ken arranged for all the remaining items to be picked up and disposed of. The only thing i would warn everyone about is to remove EVERTHING they do not want to sell. These buyers were serious shoppers. We lost 3 things in the sale that we hadn't intended to sell. But that was our fault as Ken did warn us. We saw a person going through our refrigerator/freezer! They bought a counter lazy-susan with opened bottles of vinegars and oils, an opened bottle of bean-o and toothpicks!! But all in all, an excellent experience. Thank you Ken.

nBlue Moon handled our recent living estate sale in exemplary
fashion. My expectations were greatly exceeded. Ken Blue the owner
and his son David worked with us in such a way that they established
trust early, and then made what was a very unfamiliar process an easy and
transparent one for me. Like most folks I juggle lots of balls and having
someone I trusted off-load the entire process and communicate with me regularly
took a huge burden off my shoulders. The final estate sale proceeds beat
my hopes by well more than 50%. This was due to Ken and Dave’s
knowledge of antiques, china, jewelry, and how to price them to draw buyers and
provide value for my father’s estate. There were some nice finds in my
parent’s belongings and they did the due diligence on a couple pieces resulted
in a far greater selling price then I ever expected. Finally they
have established a great presence in NC and the audience they drew to the sale
was impressive and resulted in a near total clearing of items for sale. I
am very happy I selected Blue Moon.

I am getting ready to move and the people who are handling this have done a great job. The owners are Ken and Deb Blue. I would recommend them to anyone that needs to sell all their stuff and move. Usually what it used to be is that people would hire them when their parents die and to come and clean out their parents house. But now so many people are having self furniture and leave their house so now their clients are the ones who are living as they are handling them for other than parents who have deceased. So it has really lightened my load in trying to move. They came in went through my stuff, labeled it, set everything up, they told me to set aside what I did not want to sell and took care of everything. They just do the estate sale. They priced everything and they did a little research on what things are worth since I had a lot of stuff from Europe because I lived there for 5years. The first day they priced everything and the second day the home owner and the seller agree on what the discount percentage would be. Price wise a lot of estate sellers charge 40%. 30 was a pretty good, a lower percentage for them to take. I would use this company in the future.
