I should have written this review months ago but am only now getting to it because I have another contractor doing work in the house, completely unrelated to what Green Horizon did last year. I just overheard one of today's contractors tell a colleague what a fantastic job had been done in sealing the crawlspace. That's one thing I can count on whenever anybody has to get underneath this house: without fail, everybody comments on the quality job that was done and how clean it is. Green Horizon did a fantastic job and I recommend them without any hesitation.
The competing quote I received did cost $75 upfront and the total price for the job was similar. The "inspection" did not seem as thorough. I decided to go with Green Horizon because Bill made a great first impression, was very professional and showed a genuine interest in making the right improvements to my home.
The day of service, two men arrived on time. They protected my carpet with plastic and I showed them the space. They got too work right away and were done in about 2 hours. They showed me the finished product, insulation that is up to code R-38.
My next month's energy bill was bout $30 lower than the previous year! Yay for energy efficiency!
"[member name removed], Thank you for the review. I am the one that Initially came to your house and came up with the scope do work. I'm also the owner of the business and I've asked John Eberdt our Operations Manager about the job. He said the work was done 9 months ago and he hasn't heard anything related to issues you've experienced with the work. Can you let me know who or how you communicated issues to and whether you'd like us to come back nspect the work? You should have my direct email address from when I sent you the quote and our office number is 919-321-9985. Thanks. Bobby Ferrel"
The crawlspace crew did most of their work while I was at work for the first day. The second day I was there because the gas line crew and a locksmith all needed access to the interior. Both crews did what they needed to do in a timely and professional manner, and then cleaned up after themselves. It all went very well, especially considering it was going on the week after moving into a the house, and Green Horizon is who I'll call any time crawlspace encapsulation is needed.
I called and they had the records for our last job so they sent out a project manager to do the quote. The price was fair and it seemed like a pretty straight forward job so we went ahead.
The job was poorly managed and coordinated and Green Horizon just didn't seemed concerned with any sort of professionalism.
The day of the install the technicians came, but not a supervisor. When they were finished they were not able to get heat to come from the vents so they said they would have a supervisor come out and they left.
We waited two weeks and didn't hear a word so I called Green Horizon and they didn't seem to know anything about it. They took a message and the project manager called me a few days later. He basically said the system worked fine we just didn't know what we were doing so he would come out and show us that we were wrong and the job was done correctly.
I took another day off of work to be there and within three minutes the project manager admitted the job wasn't done correctly. The thermostat his team installed was for a completely different system, the exhaust pipe had been done wrong and the wrong CO monitor was installed. So we had to schedule another visit to get it resolved.
The next visit, they realized they needed an electrician to come and install something else before they could complete the job.
Meanwhile Green Horizon continued to invoice us for the job that was not done and when I called to talk to some sort of supervisor and complain I was just passed back to the project manager.
The job was finally completed and actually passed the city's inspection on July 24th.
"[member name removed], I am very sorry for your experience with this furnace replacement. I had no idea the job was being handled so poorly. I am going to immediately review all of our documents and information to find out what happened and to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else in the future. If it's any consolation, the project manager on your job is no longer with us. Hiring qualified people can be very difficult and we are constantly trying to make sure we have employees that care about quality work and the customer experience. Please let me know if there is anything I can do at this point to make amends for our poor performance. My mobile number is 919-949-0705 and my email is [email protected]. Sincerely, Bobby Ferrel Owner"
"Mr. [member name removed], I'm sorry we weren't able to schedule this AC repair for you. We have been extremely busy and it is very important for us not to overcommit and to make sure we handle and prioritize our existing commitments, before we take on new commitments. I am disappointed hat you would give us an F for our honesty with you. That seems a little harsh. If you wld like to discuss this grade and/or how we could figure out a way to work together, please feel free to call me anytime. Our office number is 919-321-9985 and my mobile number is 919-949-0705. Thanks. Bobby Ferrel"
The crew showed up exactly as scheduled. They did the work over two days. Initially, they did not seal the wood framing on the exterior walls. When asked, they sent someone out to do that work. We weren't completely satisfied with the job. It boiled down our interpretation of the work we expected based on language in the work order. We worked with the scheduling manager to iron this out. They made a third visit to complete the work, which was done to our satisfaction. Afterwards, they sent the invoice which reflected the original quote, and included an Angie's List discount.
The other communication issue during the course of the work concerned the dehumidifier. The work order sort of specified a brand name dehumidifier but the language wasn't clear. We wanted to know exactly which dehumidifier would be installed because it was the most expensive item on the install list. After some back and forth, we agreed on the exact dehumidifier model. They were very accommodating during these discussions. It never got difficult, each item was just a matter of talking through the issue. Most of the communication was via email and phone calls. It was very nice that they remained very dedicated to completing the job to our satisfaction. We were more interested in the quality of the job than the time it took to complete the work. The Green Horizon staff were professional throughout the project. They are very good at this kind of work, and if we choose to do improvements in the attic, we'll be contacting Green Horizon.
"[member name removed], Thank you very much for the review. I really appreciate all of the feedback and I'm glad we were able to get everything done to your satisfaction. I will work on my handoff to the installation folks so we can minimize questions or confusion. Thanks again for the review and we hope to work with you again in the future. Bobby"
"(mbr name), thanks for the review. Hopefully, you are still considering us or the work we quoted. Please let me know if you have any questions or more feedback. We'd love to work with you. Thanks. Bobby"
