 + -1 moreI went with him because; he only hires legal people with social security cards. I had a lot of people in the neighborhood that used his service. He guaranteed his roof for 30 years and 10 years for the workmanship. His pricing was not the cheapest but his work was excellent. All the people were polite and pleasant and cleaned up after themselves.
Description of Work: He installed a new roof on my house. He also replaced 3 skylights, did a ridge vent, eave vent, redid the chimney flashing and he did some repair work as well.

 + 0 moreMr. Scro personally came and did the estimate for us approximately a year ago. We decided to wait to replace the roof until this year. As the cost of shingles had risen since then (due to oil prices), the cost was more expensive; however, Mary Scro made sure to tell us when to schedule the work by in order to avoid another price increase for the shingles (shingles were going to increase in price again, so that saved us some money!). We had estimates done by 2 other companies, and Scro's Roofing was the lowest and we felt the most comfortable dealing with them. We also appreciated that they use several different brands of shingles so you have a large selection for colors. Mary Scro was great to work with in regards to scheduling the work and sending me all requested information about the products and answering questions. Mr. Scro and his crew were right on time and did the work in one day. They moved all of my plants and deck items out of the way and put them back afterwards. The day after the job was done, his crew came and cleaned our driveway and the surrounding area. It looked meticulous and the roof looked great as well. All of their work is covered by a 10 year warranty.
Description of Work: Removed old roof and installed 30 yr dimensional shingles (Certainteed Landmark), replaced 2 old skylights with Velux energy efficient skylights, installed ridge ventilation. Two sheets of rotten plywood were also replaced.

 + -1 moreI'm very satisfied with the roof materials and the workmanship of Mr. Scro's roofers. His subcontractors responsible for the soffit vents...not so much. Had my window contractor fallen, it would have been a serious lawsuit not to mention the fact that the gentleman could've been seriously injured or even killed due to the negligence of Mr. Scro's sub-contractors.
Description of Work: Mr. Scro's roofers - an all Latino crew - were perfect gentlemen. Hard workers, no nonsense, deferential, professional, committed and any other beneficial adjective one might choose to bestow on them. Mr. Scro's sub-contractors - the guys who installed the soffit vents - were something else altogether. While Mr. Scro's roofers identified, validated, and repaired several areas where our 25-year-old roof substructure had rotted, the guys installing the soffit vents simply stuck a vent in a section of the soffit that was clearly rotted and barely able to hold the vent (but not to the naked eye or from the ground when looking at the spot some 25' to 30' away. Later, when another contractor was working on a window below the soffit site he sought to brace himself on that portion of the roof while on a ladder. The soffit immediately crumbled, the vent came loose and fell and it was all the contractor could do to remain stable on his ladder. He could've fallen some 25' to 30' due to the Scro sub-contractor's negligence in failing to identify and then repair the rotted soffit. After I examined the soffit, I contacted Mr. Scro. His immediate reaction was to disavow any responsibility for the situation and questioned the facts as I'd presented them. I asked if he thought I was calling just to make something up and he, in effect, said he wasn't sure. Rather than immediately arrange to come out and see what had taken place, his knee jerk reaction was to question whether I was telling the truth and perhaps trying to get something out of him. I was appalled. I had my contractor repair the rotted area and vowed never to use Mr. Scro again.

They do not haul away the old tiles in Durham so you do have to make your own arrangements for that. They are prompt, courteous and professional and do know what the are doing.

They worked all day, weren't intrusive or noisy, and kept everything very neat. They cleaned up every bit of debris around the house, and the roof looks AMAZING. When we received the invoice, there were no surprises - they billed us exactly what Don said they would. We would use them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: The old roof of our 1,100 square foot home was taken off, and a new roof, complete with ridge vents and repair of some damaged boards, was installed THE SAME DAY.

Scro's roofing crew was on time and very efficient; they took two days for removal and replacement. Don Scro, checks on the crew and makes sure everything is going well. After the job, the crew cleaned around the house leaving everything as is was before they started.

Description of Work: THEY HAD TO TEAR OFF ALL OF THE OLD SHINGLES AND REPLACE SOME OF THE BOARDS UNDERNEATH, BEFORE THEY PUT ON THE NEW SHINGLES ON THE ROOF.
