The purchase and installation (4 years ago) went very well. In October, 2013, I started having intermittent problems with the motorized vertical blinds opening/closing using the remote. I called The Blind Man and the owner came out to look at the problem. He said that the manufacturer of the blinds is out of business, but he would stand behind the product and see what they could do. He thought the problem was with the remote and said he would research to try to find a new one.
Two weeks later I had not heard anything back, and my blinds would not open. I called and left a message the morning of 11/7 and was told the owner was in a meeting. I called again at the end of the day and was told he would call me between 5:30 and 6:00. I never received a call that evening.
I called the next day and left a voice-mail message. I did not hear back from him, but the blinds started working again.
In the meantime, I started researching a new remote on my own. I contacted the company whose name was on the remote and this company put me in touch with a local company who sold the remote. I contacted that local company, and purchased a new remote for $170.00.
On 12/4, I left another message with The Blind Man because the blinds stopped working again. I did get a call back, and the owner said that he couldn't find anything on the company that made the remote. I told him that I was able to find the company and I purchased a nrew remote for $170.00. (Since I was able to find this company on my own, I have to think The Blind Man didn't try very hard trying to find the company.)
I asked him about his 'lifetime warranty', and he said there was nothing he could do since the manufacturer is out of business...so much for the lifetime warranty.
When I pressed him for 'what he could do' and I gave him the information I had already found regarding the company who made the remote, he said that he would contact that company to see about getting a new motor. That was on 12/5/2013.
I am writing this on 4/15/2014, and I have not heard anything back from The Blind Man...over 4 months. Obviously, I will not be hearing from them on this.

Response from The Blind Man Inc
"The customer was informed that there is a three year warranty on the motors and they would be covered under warranty only if it was a manufacture defect. If the motors we corrupted, there would have been issues at installation or shortly after. We contacted the manufacture of the motor to try and assist this customer. We called him back to give him the information and he said that he would handle it from here. We were surprised to get the review because we were under the impression that this was taken care of and that the customer was satisfied. We always stand behind our warranty."

The order arrived on time and the folks who did the installation were professional and fast. We have been very pleased with the blinds. They look nice on the inside as well as from the outside.

I thought they were pretty competitive. We had asked around with a couple of different vendors and found The Blind Man was less expensive than the other places. One of the other reasons we decided to use them is the place we are moving into is a very large community and this particular lady has done shutters and blinds for a lot of people in the community. We had the opportunity to deal with a unit for which she's done the work and to see her products.

A representative came out made measurements and provided us with an estimate. Once accepted the owner came out and made some additional measurements and provided us with some additional options. Despite the fact that quantities were questioned by me during the waiting period I was assured that the correct number of blinds were ordered. When the installer arrived to install the blinds they were one double window short. This was truly frustrating since the original estimator and the owner had come out and counted windows in addition to my questioning the counts in the first place. The shutters took longer to manufacture so they were installed weeks later. The shutters were not neatly installed and could definitely not be called a professional installation. Overall regret using this provider and will not do so in the future.

I could have saved $600 if I'd purchased the exact same product from Blinds for Less. I also found out that the shutters were not installed the way they should have been installed, per the manufacturer. On my front door they did not put the right kind of magnet latch on it, so when my door is opened and closed the magnet is not strong enough to securely hold the shutters in place. I called them and requested a stronger (manufacturer recommended) magnet be installed. They said they would order one and schedule to fix. I11/4/2010 - It's been over a year and I haven't heard from them regarding fixing the magnet situation on the door.

THEY WERE VERY GOOD, PROFESSIONAL, ATTENTIVE. WE DID HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE INSTALLATION BUT I THINK IT WAS THROUGH THE MANUFACTURER. THEY WERE VERY RESPONSIVE IN TAKING CARE OF THAT MATTER WITHOUT QUESTION. THEY WERE VERY AFFORDABLE.

THEY GOT HERE ON TIME, DID A GOOD JOB, CLEANED UP AND I WAS SO IMPRESSED BECAUSE THERE WAS A PROBLEM, A GLASS DOOR BROKE AND THEY SET UP A TIME WITH THE GLASS COMPANY TO SET UP THE BLIND AT THE SAME TIME THE GLASS WAS REPAIRED. THEY WERE VERY CONSCIENTIOUS AND KIND.
