Spaulding Tree Service

Spaulding came on the designated date within 15 minutes of the scheduled time. We walked around the yard and discussed trees that we desired to be trimmed and specific issues and Saulding recommended be cut back. They seemed knowledgeable and helpful. I was a little surprised that there was an extra hauling charge for removal of trimmed branches as that was not disclosed on the front end. However, this was a nominal charge relative to the overall cost and I was getting a good price to begin with so I thought this was fine. He completed the work within a few hours, cleaned up nicely and did a good job. I was pleased overall.

Professional, timely and courteous. Worked efficiently, appropriate crew size for the job and brought all necessary equipment. Cleaned up well after job completion. Brock stayed with team the whole time. Cost a bit high which is why I gave it a 'good' rating but overall the work was 'excellent'.

Brock was on time to our appointment for the estimate. After we discussed the cost and while he was there, one of his crews finished a nearby job so he asked if we wanted the tree removed then. Within approximately 2-3 hours the tree was down, the area cleaned up and the wood chipped into mulch. They were fast, professional and did a good job. We weren't able to have the stump ground due to the location of the tree and issues with getting the grinding equipment down a hill. Brock reduced the cost because we did not get the grinding. We were very pleased with the actual tree service. One part that did not go as well was the office / billing experience. After they had taken the tree down I received a phone message to call and schedule an appointment for an estimate. This was confusing as the work had been done. I just ignored it, as people make mistakes and we had been pleased with the service.. We were told that we would get an invoice by e-mail. It did not come and there was no address to send the check. Someone from the office called about getting paid. When I returned the call, not long after that, no one answered and the voice mail box was full. Brock called the house phone and my husband told him that we had been expecting an e-mail invoice so we would know where to send the check. The e-mail invoice was sent a day or two later. The invoice was for removing the tree and grinding the stump and the amount billed was for both. I responded by e-mail that the amount was not what was quoted as the stump was not ground. I did not receive a response to the e-mail, so after a couple of days I mailed a check for the quoted amount to the address on the invoice, with an explanation. I have not heard from them since, so assume we are square. The "B" for professionalism is due to this situation, as I believe all aspects of a business should be considered. The professionalism of the actual service is an "A".

Very professional. Came out to look at the yard and trees. Gave me a quote on additional work and returned on the day he said he would.

The representative from Spaulding Tree Service presented himself in a very professional manner. He surveyed the work to be done and offered a proposed cost...which was $2,800.00. I felt that this was excessively high and would not be able to enter into a contract. I believe he lowered his offer to 16-18 hundred and I still could not accept that offer. I told him that I appreciated his coming by and that I would get in touch with him if I later decided to accept his offer. I did not re-establish contact.

Spaulding tree service cut down a dead tree and left remains (per agreement). They also cut down some large shrubs and a small tree and hauled away debris. Brock Spaulding was great. He was knowledgable and very easy to work with. He kept me informed of arrival date, time and called to confirm.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it was okay. I was not very impressed because their prices were inflated to cover their discount and they were not very good about cleaning up afterwards. My husband had to go out and call them back to clean the mess out of the patio. They left actual limbs there. I had to call them several times because they would not call me back.

I found them to be very responsive and nice to work with. The job ending up being more expensive than I expected (so I graded Price as "B"). I had asked for 2 low hanging limbs to be cut, but was told that I would have to pay the minimum for them to bring out their crews, so I went on and had other work done. They worked quickly and cleaned up the area. I was disappointed that the 'deal' advertised the company as a certified arborist, which it is not (so I graded Quality as a "B").

It went fine. They came in and they did a good job.

It did not go well. Similar to other complaints on here the Big Deal I paid for specified 199 for $400 worth of work. I ended up paying $100 more because the special did not "apply to me and the amount of work I needed done." The entire time, the owner wined about his costs of labor and equipment. I was uncomfortable every time I had contact with Brock. His Massachusetts license tags concerned me, and when I asked him about it he got very defensive. His workers complained when I asked them to trim two hollies and they said "the boss did not tell us to do that." Overall it was my worst experience with anyone on Angie's list or with the Big Deal.

Brock came on the scheduled date. I had received several calls from him trying to schedule a date that worked with both of our schedules. So I have no complaints on his working with me and I with him on scheduling the service. We also bought one of the discount coupons, either groupon or living social I don't remember, and I was also still able to negotiate cost with Brock. He was very professional and I was pleased with the cost we agreed upon. Brock stayed on the premises the whole time while the work was being done. His guys were skilled, very professional, and cleaned up everything afterwards. It was much more tricky removing the limbs then I anticipated. I would recommend Brock and his team to anyone.

It went very well. Numerous branches were removed. Took about a hour and a half.

A Bartlett Pear tree was reaching into the street and obscuring my view for backing out of the driveway. With little direction on my part, he trimmed the lower branches of the very low hanging tree, all the way back to the trunk. He thoroughly cleaned up. There was not a stick or leaf left. He trimmed the tree just the right amount, really opening up the tree. It looks great.

The tree employees were very nice and wanted to do what I wanted, and wanted me to be pleased. The owner contacted me quickly and had come out previously to see what work I needed done. I was satisfied with the work that was done. My only concern with using an Angie's List Deal (or any other Deal) is that you never know what the work would have cost outright. It would be much preferable to offer deals as a specified amount of time, and not an amount of money.

If they had shown up when they suggested, they would have taken out five small dogwood trees overhanging my driveway and power lines. I had several other trees to discuss with them, but not now. I saw no professionalism with this company and will not recommend them to anyone.

Ed came out sometime in May and told me that he was booked till end of July and that he would need me to cut back my holly bushes near porch railing. I accepted his July 29 date and he came out on time. He did say that he could not tell what needed to be replaced due to the bushes. Later, I cut the bushes out totally and he started the work after I had left for work after 8am. He was still there when I got home at 5pm. They were nearly done but had to paint. They replaced the bottom of 3 columns ,the trim around the bottom corner , half of corner of the chimney trim, , and the bottom trim of 2 windows. The next day they finished. I was not given the amount of hours until after I paid the bill. I was disappointed with the quality of work since it looked like "patchwork". Although he said he did it to save time & $$. What really upset me is that instead of parking on driveway, he parked in street and walked thru my grass to the house and also did his sawing in the grass so there was sawdust all over , nails near where the wood replaced, and my tall fescue grass is about dead where they walked back & forth. I also misunderstood the deal. the Deal did NOT say "man hours" when I paid for it. So I expected the first 6 hours to be covered, but he said that the deal was 6 hours of 1 man, not 2. I felt duped. So I paid the Extra $630, making it $800 for the time and labor & materials. I wouldnt feel bad about paying but now I have to get my yard back in shape. I noticed that he put a picture of my Column in his "deal". I would recommend that you stay with whoever is doing the work, so you can keep track of "Man hours" spent.

I called 3 times and left messages each time, with no response. Spaulding Tree Service did not respond to me until after Angie's List had actually reached out to them to respond to me. We had an appointment set up for today, and they were a no call, no show. I then called the service provider back, and was told that the owner was out of town and they would call me back next week something. At this point, I decided to use a different service provider.

When Brock came out to discuss the work he was punctual and professional. His crew came out exactly when he said they would, did exactly what they were supposed to do, and cleaned everything up. I hate that the Bradfords are gone, but I know it was the best thing to do...they would have fallen into the street and hurt someone eventually. I am very pleased with the work done by Spaulding Tree Service.

We took advantage of an Angie's special deal. They showed up on time and did everything to get the tree from the roof, and out of the wires. Everything was cleaned up and we had a nice pile of wood chips for use in the spring. Very efficient and professional.

Would recommend this company. They actually did more than what they quoted me. I liked that they use a certified arborist to determine what work needs to be done.

I called Spaulding Tree service and they came out to give me an estimate within a couple of days and took pictures and scheduled the service for a Tuesday. I was not home when the men came to trim and my husband indicated that they had no idea about what they were to do and they didn't have the right equipment for the size of the trees we had. The owner could not come over at the time, so we agreed to reschedule. We received a call late Sat. afternoon asking if they could come on Sunday to do the work.. The owner came also to make sure they understood the work to be done. The work itself was done well but we received a call from a neighbor about disturbing her Sunday afternoon with all the noise. That was our fault as we shouldn't have scheduled the work on a weekend. All in all the work was done well but the complete experience was a hassle.

i had the feeling that when i said that i had paid for 500 dollars of tree service for a $250 coupon that the bill was jacked up $250. so i wound up paying a total of $500. they did a good job.

I purchased $400 of service for $199 thru Angie's List on 07/03/13. I got a call around 07:30 on 08/01/13 in response about payment of $250 today. I was confused because I hade a credit of $150 left on my quote. I was quoted $250 on the work that was suppose to be done today but owner gave my 2 choices. One was to get my money back from Angie's List. The second choice is to pay him $300 MORE on top of the $400 credit I already had with him. Which comes to $700. On the day of service, Mr. Spaulding renege on his quote of $250 for the work he VIDEOED on his cell phone. He wanted $300 now for services to be done. And he could care less about what he did to upset me. I quote " I came all this way for such a low paying job". "I do jobs for $5000 to $10,000". I checked references, the BBB on his company and he had an A- rating. He put ME in a bind to either pay him or get another company to do this job. The fencing company was coming out the week of 08/5/13. So do I recommend this company, H*** NO!!!!

Brock was very attentive and punctual. He called back immediately and was courteous and respectful. We negotiated a price over and above the Angie's List deal for 5 trees...$2500. They were very large and not easily accessible from the front yard. The day thecrew came, I noticed two other trees that I wanted removed, but decided on just one because of my budget. Brock agreed to add that one for $150 more. I thought that was a great price, because it was a tall pine. The crew accidentally took out the other tree we discussed, and when I called Brock to tell him about it, he apologized and had them stay longer at the end of the day to remove the one I did decide on for free. The crew was polite and cleaned up, and I was impressed with their work ethic. I would definitely use him again. I hope you will support his business. He is working diligently to make his company the best!
