 + -1 moreAlan was a sharp sells man. It went downhill after the contracts where signed. He kept trying to ask for more money. The roofing crew put a nail through the refrigerant line of the AC/Heat unit. It was difficult to get him to own up to the mistake and have it fixed. The painting was substandard. This is a perfect example of why one should not take word of mouth advertizing only. The guy did and doesn't have a license, is not bonded, and is not insured.

 + -1 moreOverall once I told him that I did not want to use his services he showed his true rude colors.
Description of Work: This guy(Alan Carlton) is a sleezy sales person and that is it. He is rude to women and condescending if you begin to ask questions about his service. Word to the wise, do not sign his "letter of intent" or allow him on your roof under any circumstances. If you have hail damage or think you have hail damage, there are plenty of other contractors on Angies List with reputable service histories.

 + -1 moreHis company came up as recommended by ServiceMagic. His reputation on Angies's list was not good but I went ahead and tried him as there were not many post at the time. His price was decent, but instead of selling his product he under-sold the competition product. I decided to go with another company and let him know using the email address he had supplied. A week and a half later I get a call from him that went to my voice mail asking for a courtesy call on if we wanted the work done or not. I called him the next morning and let him know why. He would not accept a simple I went with another company because I liked what the offer better. He kept on digging and started telling me that he is the contractor and he knows better. Well I talked with several contractors and they think they know what is best. Plus I checked his clams on the internet, because they were negative, and found he was using some really old information. I would not use this man unless you are sold to go with him right off the bat. Or maybe it is better not to use him because if he acts that way on an estimate, just think of what he would do if you do not like his work.
Description of Work: Remove and haul away existing roof. Patch any area that may need it. Replace power vents with ridge vents. Install 30yr GAF shingles.

 + -1 moreWe did not use him due to his terrible attitude and his decision not to work for us, based on his own assumptions of what we were doing.
Description of Work: We received a quote for roof replacement. Alan Carlton was the absolute worst contractor who contacted us. On the inital phone call to me, he was condescdending and arrogant. His was the 2nd of 6 quotes received. We made it clear from the start that we still had several estimates scheduled and that we would probably be filing an insurance claim. The entire time that elapsed for this process was about 2 weeks. After 4 days he began calling to see if we had made a decision, and he called about 4 times over the 2 weeks. Each call/message became more rude. We did not return the first 3 phone calls because we were still in the process of receiving other estimates, waiting for an insurance estimator, and processing the insurance claim. His price was decent, and we were willing to overlook the original conversation to get the roof done for a fair price. We had narrowed down the decision between his company and another, and we had planned to call thim the next day when we received his last message.He was belligerent, rude, and extremely unprofessional. He called us "unintelligent and unprofessional" for not returning his previous calls, and told us that due to this, "his company had decided to not work for us". My decision was made instantly. If you want to deal with his bad attitude and arrogance, his price wasn't bad. HIS unprofessionalism lost the deal. Note to women: he was extremely condescending to me but NOT to my husband. This is NOT professional and I would NEVER recommend him.
