PENNSYLVANIA WOOD INC

On November 19, 2011, I ordered a dining table & six chairs from Pennsylvania Wood. The order was placed with the owner, Mr Mathews, who said it would take about 8 weeks, but no more than 12 weeks, for the furniture to be ready & delivered. I gave Mr Mathews a deposit of $2500.
On January 16, 2012, I called the company, but the phone was not answered. I checked on-line & saw postings from August 2011, that said the company was going out of business. I lodged a complaint with the BBB and kept trying to call the company. The phone was finally answered by Mr Mathews. He said the company was not going out of business, they had just advertised a "going out of business" sale in August to get rid of floor stock. He also said my table & chairs would be ready in another few weeks. (When he responded to the BBB complaint he said that when I ordered my furniture he had told me it would take 20 weeks (not true).)
Finally, on April 16, 2012, the table & chairs were delivered. The seat of one chair had a spot that had not taken the stain well, so one of the delivery guys found some sort of marker & tried to fill in the spot. As you can imagine. that didn't work. They took the chair back to Pennsylvania Wood & returned w/ another chair in the same wood, style, etc. At that time I paid the remaining $2000.
The furniture is beautiful & I would love to order additional pieces, but the company has such deplorable business practices I will not return.

1/05/2012 we were told it would take 12 - 13 weeks to complete & since the chairs were already made they were to be taken to the company that was making the table to have them stained in the same color. On April 12, 2012 we were called that the order was in & will be delivered on April 14, 2012. The table was delivered but no chairs,. Gave a deposit of $12,297 for the table & I asked the men who delivered the table where the chairs were & they said that they didn't have them. I told them that the chairs were already made, that they just needed to be stained, then one of them said that they would be the one to stain & it would take about 2 weeks. On Monday April 16, 2012 I called the company to ask about the chairs and was told that they would be here the end of April or mid May.  I called the following week with no answer. Finally in May I was able to talk with Mr. Mathews, was told he couldn't believe that the company that made the table didn't have the chairs with the delivery to his store. Mr. Mathews was going to call the company & then return my call. On June 7, 2012 we called again & was told that they should be here in another week then they would delivered, but they would have Mr. Mathews return our call. As of today June 14, 2012 I have not heard from him & still no chairs. There is no way to leave a message & we even went to the store to see if they were still in business.

The quality of the furniture is yet to be determined because they haven’t delivered the furniture yet.  They told me it would take them 12 weeks to deliver it and it hasn’t come yet.  They hung up on me when I called them. I would never use their service again and I hope no one does. They had a sale saying they were going out of business and when I called they said it was just a sales tactic.  I think they are not professional. There was an advertisement on TV saying that they were going out of business and they sold honest wood furniture and I went down there and it looked liked they were going out of business but it was not and it was a scam.
