I had a nice experience. It didn't look serious enough for surgery, so we just talked through options and pricing. I left with a list of things I could do and how much they would cost if I decided I wanted to use them. Treatment was so low pressure - i really appreciated my experience.

Orthopedics - Shoulder & Arm
Shuffled through a generally pleasant but seemingly over-sized, chaotic system with physician assistants, surgeons and physical therapists for 5 months at 4 locations. Our child still can't put his palm down flat, as you would to take change out of a cashier's hand. This impacts activities like playing basketball, tennis, typing or even itching your head. OrthoCarolina's Dr. Clark and Dr. Gaston recommended a 2nd surgery. We decided to get top-notch medical school and children's hospital consultations first. (UNC was most helpful in-state. Out-of-state, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia stood out for agreeably doing a consultation via phone.) Top surgeons told our family that more surgery is ill-advised due to a condition which OrthoCarolina failed to identify by seemingly overlooking taking certain xrays. Our child has bone fused in the wrong spot (post-traumatic radioulnar synostosis). This condition makes more surgery too risky. Shockingly, a garage fall has resulted in a life-long orthopedic problem. It feels like our child not only fell in our garage, but he also fell through the cracks at OrthoCarolina, as there are even errors in his medical records. If I could do things over, I would take my child to a NC medical school hospital for treatment by an "upper arm extremity specialist." Best-of-luck to your family and post for others. Let's improve healthcare!

He is a nice guy. He did a good job. She healed fast but he was upfront with everything we were going to experience. They require you to go to a training class before hand. They're very thorough. After the surgery he met with me. The next morning in the hospital we met with him again. When we went to the follow up we expected just to see the PA or whatever, but nope. He was watching as she walked down the hall and said she was walking well, balance was beautiful and she was healing beautifully.

The surgery went very well.  During an office visit (prior to the surgery), Dr.Griffin prepared me for what to expect after the surgery. The entire surgical team were very involved and quite willing to answer any questions that I had.

They did an excellent job and they are excellent. I have to wait but generally not too long. I have no problem with the billing. I would certainly consult with them in the future.

Great. The last time I saw he was over two years ago. That's how long the last injection lasted.

I saw a hand specialist. He squeezed here and there, had x-rays made and in the end was not quiet sure what the cause of the pain was. So he prescribed stong pain killers / anti-inflammation pills with significant side effects for the digestive tract. I expect more from an expensive specialist (I was billed in excess of $300 for a 30 minute visit, and that's after insurance adjustments) then the catch all cure attempt via pills. I chose not to take the pills but do physical therapy instead, augmented by application of Capzasin that a pharmacist recommended. The issue was resolved within 3 weeks.

From physical therapy to seeing Doctor Spector, I have received the best care for over three years. When the accident first happened I was shuttled back and forth with three different doctors that had three different results. Doctor Spector is the one that demanded extra tests when the insurance company would not sign off with it. Doctor Spector took the bull by the horns and went up the chain of command. I got the MRI which showed the damage to my spine.. Not only is he a great doctor he really cares..

Great bedside manner. Treated my 10 year old with patience and was great at explaining everything to him in terms that he understood. Very pleased.

Very informative. Very professional.

They were able to tell me what to do and what I was doing wrong so it wasn't healing. Weeks later, like they said, it was better.

Dr. Griffin had answered all of my questions at an appointment prior to the day of surgery. He stopped in to see me after surgery to let me know everything went well. It has been 8 weeks from surgery and I am recovering nicely with no problems. He takes his time to listen and appears to be a very caring individual (who also happens to have a sense of humor).
