The job went well and was done quickly. He checked all sprayers to ensure that they were working correctly and adjusted them as needed.
If he wants repeat service, he should ask for our email addresses and then he could send out a teaser email early in the year to get us on his list for the following year. Question for him. Should we have the system checked and shut down for the winter? Any issues with the freezing of the irrigation pipes?

This review is specifically on the 10-pt Landscape Inspection that was offered as an Angie’s List Big Deal (for $75) . Turns out Metro GreenScape and I had wildly different expectations about what constitutes an “inspection“, and they ended up refunding my payment. The interaction was cordial and reasonably prompt, and our conflict was resolved, so, according to Angie’s List rules they earned a passing grade. But I still wanted to alert future customers to be clear on what they are offering vs. what you are expecting.
I assumed that an inspection and inspection report would be a tool for the homeowner to use in follow-up discussions with various contractors and/or in planning do-it-yourself projects -- in other words, that it would be a fairly detailed examination of the issues and at least some discussion of how to address them. This is typically what I have gained from other paid inspections associated with the purchase of my new (old) home.
What I actually got, following a cursory walk-around, was a checklist of 9 inspection points (#10 is labeled “complimentary” and was blank), indicating scores of “good, average or needs improvement” for each, a very brief statement (e.g. “no lighting present”) and a price to have the company do the repair. This is more along the lines of what I have previously received from contractors performing Free Consultations/Estimates, though others have typically included much more detail. The whole experience, including the persistent upsell from the office to purchase a landscape design, felt a lot more like a sales call than a paid service.
I asked the inspector if he couldn’t flesh out the report a little bit with some additional information (I had a couple of specific questions) and waited through 10 days of silence before contacting the office for a refund. And they provided a refund, so… happy ending? But still, if you are planning to manage your own landscaping and are hoping to gain some information and advice from an expert inspection, this may not be your ticket.
As a final comment I’ll just add that the standard price for this 10, oops, 9-point inspection is $75 on the company‘s website, so the Angie’s List Big Deal price is….not such a big deal.

MetroGreenscape was wonderful to work with. Darin, the owner, met with me before the project started and made great suggestions for materials. Rick Billings, who managed the project, was wonderful to work with and made sure any concerns I had were dealt with promptly and thoroughly. His crew, especially Paul and Victor, were wonderful. They worked tirelessly and were cheerful and pleasant. I am very pleased with the finished patio and water area.
I did not include planting in my contract because I enjoy that part, so MetroGreenscape did the hardscape and now I have lots of planting to do. I had a great experience with MetroGreenscape and would definitely use them again.

Supposed to arrive to perform work on Thursday and had taken 1/2 of payment in advance. Yard flags marked the sprinklers. When I got home from work I checked and did not see any evidence of aeration. I called to ask what had happened and was told that the crew had been there and had and quot;just cleaned up really well so I must be mistaken, but they had been to my houseand quot;. I rechecked the yard again, saw nothing and then found out from my neighbor that while he was out to dinner his yard had been aerated and he was not expecting it until the next day from a different company. I called Metro-Greenscapes again and was told that there was no way this could have happened because they did so many yards and do not make mistakes and the person wanted to know what my neighbor's address was in case they transposed it and also wanted me to check the sprinkler cover because there was a note that they had broken the one in the yard that they had worked on. I told him my sprinkler cover was under mulch so not possible that they could have been in my yard and my address and my neighbors were not close enough to have been transposed. After continuing to insist, the Metro-Greenscape representative finally realized that they had made a mistake and agreed to come to my yard the following day. They showed up the next morning and completed the work. Very frustrating that a service company was not more willing to listen to their customer with a concern and offered nothing to compensate for their poor performance and poor customer service.

They did mostly good. They did leave a big hole in the front yard. They came when they were supposed to and did do good work. The price was good and the workman were pleasant. I would still recommend them.

Called Metro to make an appointment for landscaping review and proposal, talked to a very helpful Seth who arranged a 9/19/12 home appointment with Jamie. So far, so good.
Received a call From Seth on 9/18/12 indicating Jamie had a commitment early on the 19th, and may be running 15-30 minutes late for the original appointment time. As I was home for the day, no problem, appreciated the heads-up.
Jamie called at the original appointment time, and advised he had and quot;car troubleand quot; but would be at the house by early afternoon. A little frustrating, but let's go with the flow.
Here's where it gets fun. After being a no-show for the day, Jamie left a message around 5:00 PM that and quot; I couldn't make it to your home, but I looked it up on 'Google Earth' and want to walk you through my proposaland quot; . Yeah, I'm committing a $5000 landscaping budget for a guy who looks up my property on and quot;Google Earthand quot;
Intrigued, I called back the 19th and left a message for Jamie. No reply. Message the 20th, no reply. Message the 21st, no reply.
Got a call from Seth today, the 25th, who was just following up to make sure Jamie met all my needs at our appointment. ( BTW, Seth called my work number, and Jamie's message was on my Cell phone, so no issues with contact availability ). Walked Seth through my experience. He didn't seemed very surprised.
If professionalism is important to your landscaping project, run, don't walk, from this joke of a company. Customer Service just isn't part of the Metro-Green Scape culture.

I contacted this company to come out to look at the property in order to
give me an itemized estimate for work that needed to be done. It was a
townhouse complex with a small budget of $4000-6000 for mulch and an
overhaul/clean-up/planting of very outdated landscaping. I gave the
company the budget that was available and specifically requested to know
what exactly (what type of clean-up and which type of planting) they
could do above and beyond mulch for the limited budget. Basically, to
get the property to look as good as it could for that budget, what they
could do for us. That way, I would be able to compare different
estimates and find out which company could do the most for our property
with the same given budget.
When I received the estimate, it listed mulch (which was the only thing
that I specified that was a and quot;mustand quot;) and a price, a line that read and quot;will
trim shrubs and remove ground coverand quot; without specifying which ones and
how/etc, and then a line that was for $2000 that was listed to be a
and quot;planting allowanceand quot;
When I replied to say that I would really appreciate a more detailed
itemized estimate, especially for the planting allowance and any shrubs
that would be removed, I was sent a vague reply that never addressed my
request.
I did not think it would be difficult to give a company a bottom line
and just ask them specifically what they could do for that price.
Somehow it seemed to be too difficult for this company.
Needless to say, we went with a different company who was able to answer simple requests.

I scheduled an appointment following the purchase of the Angie's List Deal. The company representative (possibly the company owner) arrived at my home on time and was professional. I began to tell him why I wanted a landscape plan, and what items in particular I was interested in discussing. He discussed a few items briefly, but overall dismissed my requests. Instead, he took the remainder of the time to tell me that the proposed work would outprice my home in the neighborhood. He also implicated that his company specialized in high end work, and that he was too expensive for what I wanted. This may be true, but this was not indicated when I paid $99.00. The and quot;Landscape Planand quot; was never completed. He did provide a quote for additional work, which I chose not to accept. I did choose another provider that was willing to complete the work that I wanted. I believe that the company representative had good intentions, but I did not appreciate the approach taken. I would recommend more specific description of the company and the proposed and quot;Landscape Planand quot; going forward, or perhaps a refund of the $99 if they did not want to follow through with the service.

Two people arrived and did satisfactory work; nothing outstanding and they need a lot of specific direction. They were obvious in their lack of enthusiasm about weeding. They stopped work 'on the nose' and left a shovel behind. I called about 45 days later to set up another time to finish the remaining work and also told them I had their shovel. The women who took my information was to call me to schedule a date after she checked the calendar. I have never heard from them; still have the shovel, too. Overall, I just wasn't 'wowed' and there are too many other options out there that are as good, if not better, at the same or lower prices
