The design of my house made it confusing to determine whether or not one of the walls was load bearing or not. Marcel examined the the house, took measurements and determined that the wall was not load bearing. Marcel is very professional and even recommended someone who could remove it!.

From my initial contact with Kathleen Babcock all the way thru the work done by Patrick King my experience with IDE was excellent. Kathleen's background and experience in the construction industry helped me think through various considerations including my broader remodeling ideas and Patrick was very knowledgeable, punctual, and professional. He discussed pro/cons for various options and provided detailed drawings for the approach we selected. I can see why IDE has so many high customer satisfaction ratings.

We wanted to get an engineer's opinion of our foundation following wall cracks and settling at our house, and chose IDE based on a friend's recommendation. Kathleen was very helpful, friendly, and thorough when setting up the appointment, recording detailed notes about our concerns and details about our home that could be contributing to the settling to give to the engineers before their visit. Marcel and Joe were prompt, professional, and also thorough in understanding our concerns, in addition to changes we have made and maintenance done to our home that could affect its structure and settling. The cost for their service was within the range Kathleen quoted, and they delivered the completed report and analysis in a little less time than estimated. We are very pleased overall and would highly recommend IDE to others.

I have a small deck/porch construction company and IDE does all my structural design work and provides the necessary paperwork to get through building inspections. Patric King is the EIT I work with on most projects and he is very responsive and get's me what I need in a timely fashion. Good company.

When Marcel arrived we discussed the observations I shared over the phone when setting up the appointment. We walked through the house and around its exterior to point out areas and for Marcel to make his own observations. At this point Marcel explained that the initial price quoted would not cover all areas he observed and that although IDE attempts to keep the original quote (around $600) this would be more (about $800-$1200) due to the number of issues and the time to address them. We asked Marcel to limit his scope to the most needed and/or pressing problem he found and remain in the $800 range. Marcel quickly identified the area to address and went to work measuring and drawing out notes in the house and then proceeded to the crawl space to investigate. After his observations and investigations Marcel explained what is causing several problems and his recommendation to correct them. My husband understood more of the problems and repairs than I did, but Marcel assured us that the inspection report would guide the repair portion. This repair model drawing can be used by any contractor we'd hire, although its not a step by step guide for a homeowner to do their own repairs. After answering questions Marcel promised to get the inspection report to us within a week, which he did. We appreciated Marcel's professionalism and thoroughness and would hire him again.

Based on the many great reviews, we decided to hire IDE to inspect our foundation for structural soundness. We also liked the fact that they do not offer repair services, so the incentive for them to find "problems" to fix is removed. We couldn't have been more pleased with the service we received. IDE was professional throughout the entire process - from our first contact with the office to schedule the appointment through the completion of the work. Prior to the appointment, we received multiple confirmations. The engineer, Daniel, arrived at the appointed time, was courteous, and very thorough. Upon completion of the inspection, he took the time to review the results with us to make sure we understood, and he delivered the detailed report with pics a week later as promised. I highly recommend this firm.

Daniel was prompt for the appointment. He was thorough in his inspection and listened to our observations. He showed us with laser levels the points of concern and where exactly he believe the issues are. Daniel gave an honest assessment and report with photos and descriptions on his findings so we have a game plan when we get quotes from potential contractors.

From Kathleen in the office (my first point of contact), to the structural engineer, Daniel, I was more than impressed!! Daniel was able to answer all my questions and followed that with an in depth report. He spent 3-4 hours going over my house from the attic to the crawl space. And actually ended up charging me less than the price I was quoted. I hope to sell my house soon and I will definitely be using IDE to look over any future home I consider buying.

This firm is top-notch. Kathleen is very responsive. She made follow-up calls when I had to change my appointment. Dealing with her was a breeze and made the whole process flow smoothly. Daniel was my engineer. The house has sinking piers causing kitchen floor to slope. He identified the problem and explained everything to me in layman's terms what was happening in the crawl space. His inspection was thorough and he is extremely Sharp. I would use them again and highly recommend anyone give them a call. Their fee was a little higher than their competitors. But I am glad I spent the extra money. I really feel as if I got my money's worth. Thank you Daniel and Kathleen. I am very happy to have worked with you.

I can't say enough good things about this company. From my initial phone call with Kathleen to set up the appointment to the delivery of the plans (all in the same week) my experience completely exceeded my expectations. Patric showed up early, was knowledgable and extremely helpful in explaining what needed to be done to our existing porch structure to transform it into heated square footage. He also delivered our plans in less than 5 business days and they were exactly what we needed to get our addition approved and permitted. We were really impressed with Patric and this company and would use them again in a heartbeat! I would highly recommend IDE to anyone!

Intelligent Design Engineering (IDE) performed a detailed two and 1/2 hour inspection that included a lot of time in the crawl space. Upon completion of the inspection, he provided me a detailed verbal explanation of his findings that included a rough draft drawing. He estimated his formal written report would take 7 - 10 days. I received the report a week later. BTW: Not that IDE had any control of this, but he found that the beams were non-structural, thus requiring no additional pillar work in the crawl space. That saved me several hundreds of dollars.

Great. IDE sent a certified P.E., Professional Engineer, licensed under the NSPE, to inspect and assess my home's structure. Daniel was prompt, courteous, and extremely professional. He described all of the concerns and specific structural deficiencies we had in a clear concise manner. Very informative. We would highly recommend IDE for anyone requiring a high level structural assessment.

Work was performed on time and on budget. A couple of months after the installation, the City was doing some work in our yard and cracked a water pipe under our house. The entire crawl space was flooded with several inches of water. Intelivent came out right away and assessed the damage and came up with a plan to fix everything. Very pleased with their work.

Great experience, from start to finish. For peace of mind, we wanted to have cracks in our foundation evaluated. The process of making an appointment was quick and easy. Kathleen gave us an estimate for the work prior to our appointment and even adjusted our appointment time to minimize the cost. Patric was very professional and answered all of our questions. Luckily, our issues are nothing that needs to be addressed, but we received a report via email that we can refer to with information on what to monitor. It was worth the cost to have the peace of mind.
