Before purchasing anything from Home Depot home services, be aware that they place all of the responsibility on the contractor to perform the work. They will not provide any support in ensuring a problem is properly corrected by the contractor. Installation was on time and smooth. At that time, several seams could be seen in the family room. We were told that the seams would disappear as normal use would blend the two pieces together. The seams never cleared up and are still very noticeable. We called the store the week of 4/8 and they said someone would contact us. on 4/14, the installer came to look at the carpet and said it needed to be reseamed. We were told that the problem was that seams made on a cold day are not as good as a warmer day. On 4/15 I went to the store to say that we still have not heard. The manager on duty, Mike, told us that thenormal process is to work with the installer. When I said we had done that a week before, Mike replied that we were using the correct process and should just wait. He also stated that the installer was ultimately responsible for the work (which was not told to us at the time of purchase), so the store would not do anything besides calling the installer (Romanoff). He did not agree that my purchase was from Home Depot so they were the ones who should manage the repair. On 4/16 I went back to the store during the day and spoke with the general manager, assistant manager, and services manager. They all jumped on the issue and said someone would be calling me the next day. Nothing happened for 2 weeks, and then the original person who installed the carpet came to inspect. He said that due to the type of carpet (short height, dense pile), this type of carpet always has visible seams. He was going to get the installation manager from Romanoff out to see the carpet. Jeff (the Romanoff manager) came out on 5/6 to inspect the carpet and said someone would contact me in one or two days. I have not heard from anyone in the past 10 days and Jeff has not returned a phone message left for him. Home Depot's process of turning the problem directly over to the installer is poor customer service. Nobody at Home Depot has been out to see the carpet or to force Romanoff to correct the problem. After 6 weeks and speaking with 8 different people at the store, I still do not have any support from Home Depot beyond just calling and leaving a message. There is no follow-through to ensure the carpet is fixed. I am having a party at my house tomorrow night, and there was plenty of time for the carpet to be repaired. In addition, I have had extra expenses, including the purchase another fish tank to temporarily house the fish from a 75-gallon aquarium that has to be completely drained and disassembled in order for the carpet to be repaired. I measure work in terms of cost, quality, and delivery time, and Home Depot has failed on all three of these. After this, I will not purchase any at-home services from Home Depot.
