Five Star Garage Door Repairs

I called Five Star, got an acceptable estimate, and made an appointment for them to install the new door. The technician didn't show up or call during the entire three-hour appointment window so I called Five Star again and they rescheduled after contacting him. He didn't show again so I rescheduled once more. He didn't show up for that one either so I called off the deal and asked that my $100 deposit be refunded. I honestly think that Five Star itself was not the problem, their technician was. And as best I can tell Five Star is mainly a dispatching service that uses independent contractors to do their jobs. What's missing is quality control of the contractors. I had dealt with Five Star previously and got a very good technician. This time I got a guy--or guys--who obviously could not get his act together. He seemed to be trying to do too much work and as a result it wasn't until the end of the day that he realized he was out of time for that day. Five Star was very apologetic, gave me one small discount after the first delay and then when I finally gave up asked me if there was anything they could do to make me happy. By then I had wasted hours of my time waiting for the technician to show up. There was nothing Five Star could do so I gave up. I'm told that my refund has been credited back to my Amex account. Assuming that takes place I will have no further dealings with this company. The good news is I was able to hire a guy to take care of my project for only slightly more than Five Star quoted. He made an appointment to come out the next day. I'm hoping I will be able to post a favorable review of him and his work.
