Asking our new neighbors for car care recommendations, we were given the name Xpertech Car Care Center, Inc. We made an appointment and delivered the car. When we came in to pick the car up, we met with Kevin. Yes the car sputtered but it could be fixed by adding a bottle of inexpensive Techron additive to the gasoline. We were also told the brake lines had been bled of air and now the brakes worked just fine. And we could forget about the rest of those $1000 of repairs. They were not needed. When I tried to pay for the time and work that had been put in, Kevin wouldn’t let me. We tried the Techron and it got rid of the sputtering justas Kevin predicted. The brakes now work like new. And not one of those other supposed need repairs has caused any problems. Hallelujah! We had found our Ashville Tony. We are truly impressed with the knowledge, professionalism, and most of all the integrity of Kevin and his employees. We look forward to a long relationship with our new friends at Xpertech.
Description of Work: We moved here about a year ago from San Diego where we had a fantastic auto mechanic. I was worried we would ever find someone here as good as our Tony and his team A few months ago, we took our 1993 Miata to the Mazda dealer to repair an engine that was sputtering. When we pick the car up, we not only had a bill for $500, we also got a list of additional repairs they suggested that would cost over $1000. On the drive home, we discovered the car ran just as bad as when we took it in.

"To rebuild or not to rebuild?", that is the question when it comes to dealing with a bum transmission. After much research and 5 estimates later, Kevin made the decision NOT to rebuild a no-brainer. So we had Xpertech replace the tranny on our 2003 Honda Odyssey with a remanufactured model from Jasper. The 3-year/100.000 mile transferable warranty helped seal the deal. Kevin's price on parts and labor blew the competitions' estimates out of the water! We ordered the part on Thursday and we had the car back Tuesday morning. No hassles. Thanks Kevin and Xpertech crew! : )

The main mechanic, Kevin, knows what he's doing! He's very knowledgeable and wants to make sure you are getting the best service. I called to make an appointment for an estimate of rear and front shocks and struts, and the earliest they had available was 2 weeks in advance. Kevin was able to tell me exactly what I needed and what he recommended. I was able to schedule the appointment to get everything done the next week. I knew it would be an all-day, drop-off kind of thing, so I was prepared for that. He called me at 5:30 and it was ready. He told me that he just needed to fix one more thing but didn't have the right parts. He said that the parts would be in a few days later (today- 3/4/13) and that he would fix it for free! I really enjoyed my experience and will definitely go back. They are a busy place, and now I know why!
Description of Work: I had my rear shocks replaced, my right lower and left lower control arm bushings replaced, my front struts replaced, my sway bar bushings replaced (for free), and a drive belt replaced. The $768 is parts, labor, and tax.

After getting an estimate of $495. from a local repair shop I had used for 7 years, I called up XperTech and asked what they would charge for the hose replacement. They asked me to drive over to their shop so that they could take a look at the job before ordering the part. On the phone, before I went over, they gave me a tentative quote of $213. After they saw the car, they told me that they would be able to do the job for exactly what they had quoted. Whereas the first shop had told me that I had to get the work done immediately because my car might catch on fire, they let me know that I needed to do the replacemant , but that I could wait a little while. I drove back a few days later to have the work done. They told me how long it would take, and they were just under that. The bill was exactly $212.75. I saved $282.25!

The work - from tune-up to repair, was always done economically and within the time specified. I love these guys.
Description of Work: This firm has been taking care of my 2006 Saab for two years. They told me exactly what the state-of-the vehicle is, what was needed and what it was going to cost. If a new replacement part is going to be extremely expensive if bought from the original part manufacturer, they gave me advice as to how I might replace it for less - considerably less. I cannot recommend Xpertech more highly; and am really sorry that having moved out-of-state, I cannot continue to be their customer. I love my car, and they really took care of it.

Very easy to setup up appointment for my Subaru Outback. Great communication! Reached out to let me know each step of the way what to expect and when work would be completed. Work finished on time. They found an issue with the transmission that they couldn’t complete. Recommended another garage for that work.

Our experience was fabulous. Expertech was quick and thorough in fixing our leaky roof. It's been several months now since we had this repair done, and we've had no leaks in some very heavy downpours. Although they are quite a drive for us, we will go back again!
Description of Work: We had a leak in our truck's sunroof. The dealer said they would charge us $90 just to look at it. Xpertech called the dealer and discovered that this was an after market sunroof, and went to the trouble of finding the company that installed it somewhere in PA. Through this contact, they found a remedy for our problem at a great price.

I have had all kinds of work done here. They are very fair, and have reasonable prices. I like that they thoroughly explain what needs done, and that they don't try to get me to do unnecessary repairs. They have a clean environment, and are very nice to work with. I feel that they have been a big help with keeping my car in good shape. They are very experienced and knowledgable. I like them so much, I drive out of my way to go here.

I was about two miles from home when my check engine light came on. I managed to get the car home despite not having power steering (it's a light car). I popped the hood at home and saw a bunch of broken belts from bottoming out on driveways here one too many times. I had it towed to Xpertech because the tow truck from AAA recommended them. I went with their recommendation but should've had it towed a lot further to my old mechanic I stopped seeing since we moved to the other end of Asheville. The drive belt was replaced among other items. When I picked it up, I was told the brakes would need to be replaced soon. I did not have a good feeling about the place. I had no intention of going back for a brake job. Not long after (couple months?) the car was a little hard to turn. I took it to a local new mechanic we trust. He checked the brakes and said they were fine. Now, @five or more months later the front brakes need replacing. This does not constitute "soon". My mechanic also said the drive belt was loose. That's minor but still costs to have it tightened. That explains the difficultly in turning the car. My mechanic asked if I wanted to take it back to Xpertech and I said NO.
Description of Work: Several belts replaced.

Made the appointment by phone. It took a couple weeks to get in (they're very popular) which was not a problem. They were ready to take the car when we arrived. It only took about 10 minutes to exchange information. The car was ready that afternoon. They gave us an honest estimate on the cost of the seat sensor with a detailed analysis of the problem and what was required to resolve it. We declined the repair as it was a bit too expensive, and the mechanic just smiled and said, "OK." It's always a pleasure to work with Xpertech. Three different friends of ours recommended them to us and we've never been happier with an auto service business.

Expertech was recommended to me by a neighbor and I have since heard several other neighbors mention them. They have all spoken highly of the company and the work they do. I have also recommended them several times to others. One caveat I would add is that they are always very busy so, if you do not have a flexible schedule, you may or may not be able to get in.
Description of Work: A portion of my vehicle's heater/air conditioner system failed. Due to the location of the failed part, the labor involved as well as the cost of the parts would have been 600 -800 dollars. The folks at expertech gave me a web site where I could purchase an after-market kit that they would install using an alternate method at a large savings. This honesty and concern for the customer is not often found in today's world.

This was my first visit to this shop, which I selected based on its good reviews (and because several mentioned that they are good with older cars). I had a timing belt and water pump replaced and asked them to check my front end because of a noise. They found a loose bolt that could have caused a major accident if it had come all the way off. They did the other work, too, and even fixed my windshield washers, which used to make a sound like a fingernail on a chalkboard. Through it all they were pleasant, polite, and professional. Though it's a bit far from where I live, I'll definitely take my car there the next time it needs work.

They made me wait for a week to have an appointment at noontime. Then there really wasn't an appointment at all; they just grabbed somebody they could grab to have a quick look. The motor mount had broken off the engine and he said that I had to weld it at a certain temperature. I didn't' have them do the work.

They fixed the brake light for a fair price. That's the good news. They told me I needed new front tires before the truck could pass inspection because they were worn unevenly and that's why the front end had a "thump" in it. My instincts said something was off, and I took it to another mechanic who acknowledged that tires were worn, but immediately said that he wanted to know why and that, while worn, would not stop the truck from passing inspection. Xpertech did not question why the tires wore so very unevenly; just wanted to slap a few tires on it. When the other mechanic pout the truck on a lift, even I could see clearly that the upper ball joints were shot. If I had put new tires on, they would have worn unevenly, quickly, and unnecessarily. Xpertech also told me that the transfer case was leaking. The other mechanic showed me how, due to the design of the vehicle, the overflow made it appear to be a leak, and showed me that the transfer case was fine. So in both cases, the mechanic at Xpertech did a casual look and did not look further and investigate why the problems were ocurring.
Description of Work: I took it to them to repair a rear brake light, for state inspection, and asked them to look the truck over for potential problems.

I have had a lot of work done on various cars over several years with Kevin and Robin at Xpertech. They are wonderful, hardworking, honest, admirable people. I know that they have undercharged me for some of the work that they have done. Kevin can multitask like no one I have ever seen. He has helped my mother with her car over the past decade as well and always has the time and patience to make sure she understands what is wrong and how he is going to try to fix the problem. He accomodates her despite his very busy schedule. It is best to call for an appointment because they are so popular and busy.
Description of Work: Kevin, Robin and their crew have worked on several of my cars - everything from transmissions to simple oil changes. I cannot say enough good things about them. I put my total trust in them and know that whatever they charge me for the work that they do, that is a fair and honest appraisal.

On a short drive back to my home one day early in July, I suddenly noticed that my brake pedal felt "soft." Though I still could stop, I realized there was a problem and drove on home VERY cautiously, grateful just to make it back. Once there, I looked underneath the rear axle and saw brake fluid sprayed all over that portion of the vehicle, and also discovered that the brake fluid reservoir in the engine compartment was empty; my truck was now quite undrivable. So I had it towed to X-Pertech, who has worked on it previously (in fact, the owner had warned me about the deteriorating condition of the brake lines a year ago). I told them this was not my primary vehicle, so there was no time urgency in getting it fixed - just do it well. So they had it for two weeks, repeatedly spraying down rusted fittings to help loosen them up, and replacing ones that needed it. For the time that was spent on it, and the patient work that went into it, I felt the price was more than reasonable. They have done exceptionally well for me over the last couple years, and are one of the reasons I appreciate AngiesList so much, as that is where I originally learned of them.
Description of Work: A major brake line in my '98 Ford Ranger ruptured (due to rust from 11 Michigan winters). The owner informed me that he needed to be careful, as other fittings connected to this major line needed to be patiently worked with in order not to damage them. Although it took some extra time, they were able to make a full and safe repair for what could have been a much more costly situation.
