Dr. Nunley's staff is the greatest. They took my boxer, Shila, in the back and got her weight and other preliminary tests done. Shila has been a nervous dog ever since her rescue from a it bull fighting ring, where she was used a bait for training, so they allowed me to remain with her, up until she had to go to her crate. I took her in at 7:00 am CST, where they proceeded after triage to make an incision from the tip of her ear to about 1/2 an inch inside, just before they valley of the ear began. They cleaned the ear out, which turned out to be a case of ear mites. The mites did not form in the canal like they normally do, they formed in the fold and creases of the flap instead, creating a large pocket of blood and puss that filled the flap of her ear so severely, it was sticking straight out from her head like a flag waving in the air. Due to the pocket being formed, the flap of the ear was left separated, like an open envelope. In order to prevent further infection, Dr Nunley sticked the flap of the ear in several places, in order to make the flap solid again. Shila's ears were damaged during her time as bait for the pits, so by making the decision of treatment Dr Nunley did, he not only fixed a potentially life threatening problem, but also made my baby look a little more like a boxer is supposed to. Shila has seemed to have a different spring in her step since then, and is always happy to see Dr Nunley on regular visits.
