We had a fairly large pine tree in our front yard that had been dead for some time. Ken came out to give an estimate on short notice. He was very courteous and even gave us a 10% discount when I mentioned their website and that I researched them on Angie's List. Due to inclement weather it took them two days later to come out, but they were very nice and professional. They were also very efficient and had the tree down, stump ground, and area cleaned in less than an hour. I was very impressed!

Wonderful response from the sales guy Ken, he was great. It took several months for them to actually come back out and perform the work.  The project consisted of the removal and stump grinding of 11 trees.  This was performed well. Debris cleanup was well done. I was told that they would put boards on my grass to prevent tearing it up, as much as possible, but this did not happen.  There was a lot of "scuffs" and tire wear in the grass.  They also left a great deal of marks on my driveway.  Was not happy with that at all...but they did offer to come pressure wash the driveway.  I would rather have not had to deal with it period though.  Overall, a decent job.

This was a great first experience with tree trimmers.  Big John's staff did a great job with giving me a timely estimate and trimming the tree.  The whole process was painless.  I highly recommend Big  John's.

They were very efficient. We had to wait 6 weeks, but our work was not an emergency. Cleaned up great after trimming trees. Even raked yard and blew off roof. We did receive a senior citizen discount. Could not be more pleased with their work. Price is high, but they had all the equipment to do the job. When considering price of job, I don't think they were unreasonable because they have to pay for their equipment.

I needed a professional to take down a large pear tree and a river birch that had been planted within a few feet of my home when the house was first built 15 years ago. I called Big John's because of the positive reviews on this site. Ken returned my call the next day and delivered a proposed contract by that evening. I called back the following week with a couple of questions. We decided not to include stump grinding because of the underground utilities that ran close to the trees and Ken adjusted the price. That same week they returned and took down the trees. They did a great job of cleaning up the debris and avoiding damage to the shrubs and smaller trees in the same bed. I highly recommend them.

I cannot praise the team of Big John's Tree Service enough. From the initial call until the completion of work, this company was efficient and professional. With the preliminary assessment of service, I was given an honest assessment of what needed to be done with each of the trees that I wanted modified. The surveyor educated me regarding what each tree was and its growing pattern. At the end of the consultation, I was given a detailed list of all the things we discussed as far as tree management along with a price. The day of service, the group re-assessed the work to be performed; completed all of the items on the preliminary estimate, and hauled away ALL the debris.  I will definitely used them again in the maintenance of my home and recommend them to anyone who desires professional work with a friendly attitude.

Excellent experience.  Ken called me back immediately and came out the next day to do the estimate.  The estimate was 30% less than Northeast tree service.  They were pretty busy so it took a little over a month to get the work done, but it was worth the wait.  They showed up at 7:30 AM when they said they would with a full crew and lots of machinery.  They did a fabulous job in making all my trees look great!  They cleaned everything up with no mess left over.  This is definitely the best tree work company in this area!

We had a tree fall due to a storm in our backyard, we called and they were out the next day removing the debris.

Crew arrived and performed very well. Quick and efficient.  Am VERY pleased with the whole operation.  They cleaned up the area very well, over and above what was needed.

Ken came out and surveyed the spot, we talked about my plans to build, and he gave me several options for doing the work.

He is very professional, and his service is excellent.

Excellent start to finish.  Even placed pallets in the yard so as to not rut  the yard.  Fast.  Had the right equipment.

The company provided a copy of their insurance and explained in detail how the work would be performed.  They removed the tree and stump so well that no one can even tell a tree was in my front yard.  When finished, the supervisor recommended that I plant winter rye grass to prevent erosion and that I should consider sodding the yard in the spring.  I followed the instructions and no erosion occurred. A very professional firm with quality work and honesty.

Overall a good job.  I had to call them twice to get an appointment.  The quote was to clear trees, grind the stumps and haul off the trees.  It apprears their stump grinder broke because there were numerous stumps still on the lot.

They responded the next morning after Angie's List sent the email, and they set up an appointment for that afternoon.  They came the next afternoon, as they had said, and were done in a couple of hours.  The stumps were ground to the point that you couldn't even tell where they had been, and they cleaned all the other leaves and twigs out of the yard and driveway.  Seriously, I'd let these people do brain surgery on me  ;-)

Everything went great.  I called to see about having them come out and look the job over and someone was there in 30 minutes.  He was very knowledgeable and professional, even offering his insurance information up front and encouraging me to call and check it out.  He gave me a very good price on the tree removal and stump grinding, and said he'd call back in a few days to let me know when they could do it, but said it would probably be about 2 weeks.
A little over a week later, he called to say they could do it the next day.  I wasn't home to see the work, but I saw the result and it was excellent.  The tree was gone, the stumps were gone, and everything was clean and clear.  They even ground up three smaller stumps in the back yard while they were there, and didn't charge any extra for it.
I would gladly use Big John's again!  They were fast, friendly, did good work, and charged a really good price.  Usually you only get to pick two from fast, cheap, and good, but Big John's brought all three!

We have owned this home for nine years and have had three different companies at different times remove trees from our yard.  Big John's has been the best in actually taking care of our yard by placing thick mats on the grass to protect it. The care they took in cutting and dropping the branches was very impressive and showed us how experienced they are.

Very professional, yet friendly from start to finish.  Arrived at scheduled time for estimate and provided proof of insurance/bonding without our having to ask.  Great estimate!  The actual work was delayed quite a while because of issues on both sides of the contract; but we were not in any particular hurry anyway.  John called on Friday to let us know they would be out on Monday to do the work.  They arrived within the specified time frame and got right to work.  They all worked together like a well-oiled team.  They took great care to be sure that nothing dropped onto patio furniture, the propane tank, or anything else that it shouldn't have.  They cleaned up even the smallest twigs and I believe they actually cleared more fallen leaves than they had created!!!  They even swept the street where the chipper had been.  After they left, you'd never know they had been here, except that the trees AND us were very happy.  I would highly recommend Big John's Tree Service and I would not hesitate to use them again.  They are now our official tree people.

As I had requested, Ken from Big John's Tree service came out promptly (just a few days after my initial call) on a Saturday morning (5/26/2012) to look over the back yard and talk to us about which trees needed to come down.  At the end of that visit, we were provided with a detailed written estimate.  We called Big John's Tree service several months later to look into scheduling a date for our tree removal.  Some storm damage from Hurricane Isaac had filled up their schedule, but they said they estimated it would take approximately 3 week for an opening and that they would call us closer to the time they were available.  They kept us posted, called to schedule a 10/09/2012 service date and confirmed that date before on 10/06.   The Big John's crew arrived at 7:30am as they said they would, and they complete the job in less that 4 hours with yard fully cleared of debris from the tree removal.   The entire crew was profession, efficient and courteous.  The yard looked great after the work was completed, and the total for services matched their estimate despite the complications or the fact that more that 90 days between the estimate and the work had elapsed.
