LCP Lawncare & Landscaping

I had decided to overhaul our backyard this summer. The job was sizable which includedclearing out a large section of overgrown bushes, trees, and old piles of firewood left by previous owners. I was also having a hot tub deck and old fencing removed. The property also has drainage issues to solve this I french drain system was to be installed as well as tying in the downspouts and sump pump outlet to two separate pop up drains. The yard was also to be regraded, seeded, irrigation system adjusted, and new fencing installed by third party to replace the old fencing that was removed. I signed a contract with LCP for the work described above because I believed they were honest and would do a good job. The owner even went as far as to say I design things as if it was my house and I don't cut corners. They requested 40% up front, which was paid, and the rest upon completion of the job. They even requested that I be flexible with the timeline because their schedule they were not available to work on certain days. I agreed. After several days of working and being slowed down by the rain LCP informed me that they were not going to make any money on this job because they underbid the work and informed me that they were not going to finish the work. I also had to pay the third party fence worker out of my own pocket because they told me they didn't have the money. Now I have a project that is third of the way to being completed and I am out a sizable amount of money and will have to pay more then originally thought to finish the job. I don't like doing things like this but I feel this behavior is extremely unprofessional and don't want to see it happen to another homeowner.
