Sears Auto Centers

2-5+ years ago, I used to get several vehicles serviced by this Sears... they were great - and they did some large jobs for me. The managers started changing and the crew changed and things got progressively worse.  A couple years back, they put struts on my car and screwed that up.  ReInstalled them and screwed that up.  All while inconveniencing me as long as possible and keeping my car too long including overnights.  Short staffed, the days of working anyone in were gone... they require appointments but run late and can't complete work timely. I had given up on anything except tires with them.  Even simple rotations take too long.  Unfortunately, one of my tires had a slow leak so I took it to Sears since I had purchased the Road Hazard Plus Agreement.  I had an appointment, but no surprise... they were running late.  They informed me they couldn't repair the tire. I asked twice where the leak was and was told it was in the tread but too close to the side to repair.  They should have shown me the tire... or I should have asked to see the tire.  They informed me that with my "Road Hazard Plus Agreement" based on the tire being more than 25% worn, they could only discount X percent.  The Road Hazard wasn't too helpful even though I only have 40K miles on 100K tires... but that's the "Agreement" not this Sears.  However, the Road Hazard states that it will discount the tire based on the "then current selling price".  Sears online shows the same tire for $82 dollars, but I was charged based on their normal price of 104.99.  Even though basing on the sale price would only have saved me about twelve bucks, I'd had it with every interaction going wrong, so I called and asked to speak with a manager.  First guy heard my question and put another guy on phone - apparently both are managers.  2nd guy explained that it's impossible to honor the online price (though the Road Handler Agreement lists nothing about excluding online price... and I suspect I could have gotten the tires in the store for discounted.  I said, I came here with a tire covered under the Road Handler Plus Agreement and over $100 doesn't seem like a deal at all... it didn't do squat to help me... I could have bought the tire outright for cheaper.  The management had an opportunity to do some small gesture of anything to show they care about crappy service, extra expenses for their customers, etc. or that they're losing my business. That measley $12 bucks was more about the gesture, but they didn't care... just talked to me like I'm stupid and their hands are tied. Worse than complacence. Here's my thank you for not really listening and doing nothing to rectify anything... bet it's worth 12 bucks now.  I have no confidence or trust in this place anymore. Maybe next month's manager and crew will be better, but I'm DONE with this Sears.

I went to Sears because Michelin tires were on sale and that's the only brand I will use on my Volvo. So, for this reason, I will go back to Sears again if the price is right. However, this experience was not pleasant like previous ones. They were a little late getting my car in, and then left the key on while the car was on the lift so my battery wore down. The battery wasn't very old and still was under warranty, but I had to buy a new one. They of course denied any fault, but I know this is a common mistake made by inexperienced mechanics.

I like everything about them, except my husband brought in a socket to be replaced and they took it. We got no information on it. They told us to look online and that it would be there, and it hasn't been. But otherwise, we love Sears. Everything we own is Craftsman. Our whole house is nothing but Craftsman. They are very good and very kind. They wait on us right away. They are real good. It didn't cost us anything. If we buy something, we can buy the extended warranty with it. We would absolutely use them again in the future.
