Excellent from start to finish. Dave Wibbenmeyer (rep) came to the house before, during and after the project and kept in touch with us via phone and e-mail. He was very detail-oriented and gave us various options. All workers were courteous, professional and punctual. They worked hard and cleaned up each day when they left. We are completely satisfied with our new deck.

The experience was great. He was accurate with the bid and on time. He answered a lot of questions my husband had. He left us with samples of different types of decking material. He did great.

Great service from the moment I walked into the showroom until the moment I completed our transaction by paying the balance on the railings. They answered ALL of my questions completely and clearly (even though some of the were probably pretty stupid). They promptly visited my house to make measurements, order materials, and then quickly installed the railings...even moving the installation date up to accommodate my inspection date.

They don't do jobs underneath $4000. I called them and left a message. He called back the next day. When I explained what I want he said we don't do jobs that small. He was very polite and informative.

I really have nothing negative to report as we had no problems with them at all. They showed up on time every day. They also made us aware of the price that they were going to charge us but that was due to the style of porch that we had.

We had a few planning problems with the drainage, which after my husband noticed, they fixed. Though the company was great, I didn't feel comfortable speaking to the workers on site because they were uncooperative and not friendly. The company was knowledgeable however, the workers didn't really seem to be. The planner was good and I really liked him and his recommendations so therefore, I would use them again.

I liked that they were always on time in the morning and got right to work. They did the job in January so it wasn't the best of weather. Their customer service people are very nice and easy to deal with also.

I stopped by the office so I could see their displays. I was helped by Chris. He could give me an idea of cost that day since I knew the basic dimensions. I had a little sticker shock but he helped me adjust the plan to contain costs. He came to the house about a week later so he could see the layout and we could discuss details. The written estimate was the same amount as estimated in the office, except it included drawings, and all the details of what was included in the job. They handled the city inspection process (Bel-Nor). They started the deck about 6 weeks later. There was a small delay when the old deck was removed revealing serious tuckpointing problems. As soon as we fixed that they returned. There were just two carpenters who came out to work, so it took a few days of work but it looks great and feels solid as a rock. (They used 2x12 joists on 1 foot center). My wide staircase created odd angles, a real challenge, but the carpentry work is exceptional.

They did a very good job, completing the project in about 2 and 1/2 weeks. The people who worked on the job were courteous and addressed any issues I brought to their attention. I had a few issues that needed to be addressed after they completed the job which they corrected very quickly.

We were extremely impressed with the presentation and loved the drawings they did of the deck, but the price was high. We decided to go ahead and go with them because we like dealing with a bigger, more professional company. When I went to sign the contract, however, I was informed that a mistake was made and the price was higher. I felt as thought it was a type of bait-and-switch tactic and instantly became disinterested and refused to deal with them.

WE DECIDED NOT TO BUILD A DECK, BUT IF WE HAD, WE WOULD HAVE USED THEM. THEY DID A VERY DETAILED ESTIMATE WITH DRAWINGS.

I DID NOT HIRE THEM AND I CONSIDER THEM UNETHICAL. THEY WERE RELUCTANT WITH GIVING LIEN WAVERS. ONLY AFTER BEING PERSISTENT, DID THEY COMPLY TO GIVE A LIEN WAVER IF THEY PERFORMED THE WORK. I WOULD NEVER CONSIDER DOING BUSINESS WITH PEOPLE WHO DO NOT CONSIDER LIEN WAVERS BECAUSE THEY ARE OBVIOUSLY TRYING TO HIDE SOMETHING. THEY WERE ALSO UNSURE ABOUT A START TIME, BUT STILL WANTED THE FIRST THIRD DOWN PAYMENT WHEN THE CONTRACT WAS SIGNED. THEY ALSO EXPECTED THE FINAL THIRD OF PAYMENT BEFORE THE WORK WAS COMPLETELY FINISHED. (SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION).
Response from Outdoor Living Inc
"I AGREE WITH THE MEMBER WHICH IS WHY WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HAPPY TO PROVIDE A LIEN WAIVER UPON COMPLETION OF THE WORK. IT IS NOT AUTOMATICALLY SENT, BUT WILL BE SENT, OR BROUGHT TO YOU PERSONALLY, IF REQUESTED. WE DO ASK FOR A ONE THIRD DOWN PAYMENT UPON CONTRACT, WHICH IS THE INDUSTRY STANDARD. THIS IS TO RESERVE YOUR PLACE ON OUR CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE. WE SCHEDULE CLIENTS ON A FIRST CONTRACT, FIRST BUILD BASIS. WE ABSOLUTELY CAN GIVE YOU AN ESTIMATE OF YOUR START TIME. THIS TIME FRAME IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE, DUE TO WEATHER CONSIDERATIONS AND DELAYS ON JOBS SCHEDULED BEFORE YOURS. ONCE WE START A JOB WE WILL STAY UNTIL IT IS COMPLETED. IF THER ARE UNFORSEEN DELAYS OUR SCHEDULE MAY BE ALTERED. WE TRACK EACH OF OUR INQUIRIES AND APPOINTMENTS VERY CAREFULLY. WE HAVE NO RECORD OF THIS MEMBER. AS THERE ARE TWO INDEPENDENTLY OWNED ARCHADECK OFFICES IN THE AREA, IT IS POSSIBLE HE SPOKE TO THE OTHER OFFICE. PLEASE BE SURE TO CALL ARCHADECK OF ST. LOUIS AT 314-966-7799. WE'RE DELIGHTED WITH THE PORCH. WE REQUESTED A SPECIFIC CARPENTER (RICK) BASED ON A FRIEND'S RECOMMENDATION AND WERE VERY PLEASED WITH THE QUALITY OF HIS WORK. ONE SURPRISE, THE CONTRACT INCLUDED ''WIRING AND SUPPORT TO ACCOMMODATE A CEILING FAN.'' WE ASKED THE ELECTRICIAN FOR A WALL SWITCH BECAUSE THE CHAINS FROM THE FIXTURE WERE TOO HIGH TO REACH. WE ALSO ASKED HIM TO INSTALL AN ELECTRICAL OUTLET ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WALL FROM AN EXISTING INTERIOR OUTLET, AT AN EXTRA CHARGE. WE DID NOT GET A QUOTE. IN THE FINAL ACCOUNTING, THE WALL SWITCH WAS NOT CONSIDERED TO BE PART OF THE WIRING INCLUDED IN THE CONTRACT. WE HAD TO PAY $235 FOR THE SWITCH AND $235 FOR THE OUTLET, CHARGES WE THOUGHT WERE EXCESSIVE. A FEW MONTHS AFTER COMPLETION, WE HAD A CEILING LEAK IN THE ROOM WHERE THE PORCH WAS ATTACHED. THEY RESPONDED PROMPTLY AND FINALLY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM, AN EXISTING LEAK UNRELATED TO THE WORK THEY HAD DONE. THEIR CARPENTER DID THE REPAIRS FOR US FOR A VERY REASONABLE CHARGE.

ONE YEAR LATER, WE ARE STILL ENJOYING OUR ARCHADECK! THE OWNER PERSONALLY VISITED AND ENSURED THAT HIS WORKERS PERFORMED THE BUILDING TO SPEC AND THAT THE SITE WAS LEFT CLEAN. THE QUALITY OF THE DECK HAS PROVEN TO BE EXCELLENT.
