Chimney Repair
This is the second time that we have used Mirelli. We called and scheduled an appointment. The workmen arrived, albeit earlier than scheduled, and did their thing.

This was a lucky find from a yard sign next door, not the List. It went very well. The tuckpointing was done in one afternoon. I was wary about not being home for most of the work, but when I got home the only way to tell they'd been there was a great looking chimney. The cap wasn't installed until a week later, since it was custom-made, and had to be fabricated. But it appeared when they said it would. Very prompt and clean. Even prompt with the estimate. They weren't the cheapest bid I got, but the cheapest one was a flake, and I'm happy I went with Mirelli.

I called the company for an assessment. Mr. Mirelli came out the next day and gave me an estimate. I called to ask if I could use the coupon from Angie's list and was told to put in the final bill and deduct the 5%. They told me they would be out in a couple of weeks and came around 4/7 when the weather was drier. They did a great job on the front porch and steps. They will be back in 30 days to seal.

They promptly responded with an estimate of the work. They answered our questions professionally and promptly, scheduled, and started work. The work site was also cleaned thoroughly. They also did extra work on the front of our house at no extra charge. The work looks good and we highly recommend mirelli. Our only critique would be that we would have liked to receive a follow-up call upon completion.

Having been pleased with Mirelli Tuckpointing's performance on a smaller job, I did not hesitate in hiring them to tuckpoint a north wall. Mr. Mirelli was very available to answer any questions. The work was performed exactly on schedule, and the workers even accommodated a last-minute bit of masonry. As soon as I have the funds to finish the whole house, I know where to turn. Tuckpointing is not cheap but with Mirelli Tuckpointing you're paying for a job that should last for decades. (Do cover your windows on the inside for the blowers, by the way.)

I called for estimate, John Mirelli came out next day & gave me a estimate. Started work within 10 days of estimate, project took 5 days, large crew. They did a excellent job. I am very happy with the job and would highly recommend them & also will use them in the future.

I thought the bid was pretty high but this company had RAVE reviews on Angie's list. They were also fairly prompt giving me a bid while other companies took forever if they showed up at all. The owner bid the job himself but managed to ignore my specific requests to meet him at the job site so that I could talk the work over with him. I decided to accept their signed bid, signed it my self and returned it. Two months later the day arrives and they say (NOW) that their ladders aren't long enough to reach my chimneys. They need a lift. Next day they say the guy they rent lifts from is out of business and they have insurance problems getting lifts elsewhere. They say they will TRY to find one but in the mean time I should probably look elsewhere. And this is with a signed contract in my hand. But I did not want to try to compel them to do the work since I was not about to climb 50 feet on a ladder to make sure they did their best. Very LAME. Surprising, given Angie's List grade.

WE CALLED THE SAME DAY TO SEE ABOUT RENTING A LIFT, BUT NONE WERE AVAILABLE IN A TIMELY MATTER. WE CALLED YOU THE NEXT DAY TO DISCUSS THE SITUATION AND SEE IF YOU WANTED TO WAIT FOR A LIFT TO BE AVAILABLE. WE ALSO GAVE YOU THE NAMES OF TWO COMPANIES WITH THEIR OWN LIFTS. WE DIDN'T HEAR FROM YOU AFTER THAT. WE ARE SORRY FOR THE UNFORTUNATE SITUATION, AND HOPE YOU ACCEPT OUR SINCERE APOLOGIES."

Job 1: John Mirelli responded within a day to estimate the cost, a typed contract was sent & the work was done in a day (within 2 weeks of the estimate). John was very professional, efficient & when his workers found an area that needed tuckpointing which wasn't in the original contract they called John & he had them complete that area without additional cost to us. The workers completed the work in a timely manner, cleaned up the mess very well, were very professional & polite. The job was completed to our satisfaction. Job 2: They called two days after our call and came that week-end and did some extra caulking and suggested to grade dirt in front away from the house. I rained for three days that week no leak in the ash pit. Great job.

John, came right out and gave me an estimate for the work in August. We walked around the house so he could see what needed to be done (and looked at the inside fireboxes). When it came time to do the work (in September), they brought a crew to try to get it all done in one day. They almost finished. After the 2nd day, I had to call to have them return for some missed areas (they failed to fill in a couple of areas that had the old filling removed. They left a couple of ladder scrap marks on the front of the house that they did cleaned up. They did not do the existing holes under the back drain pipe. I had said they did not have to remove the drain so maybe there was a misunderstanding about that. John was quick to try to fix anything that did not get done right the first time. I appreciated that effort, but never like it when I have to call about work already complete.

Called owner on cell for estimate on 9/8. He asked me to call office to give them my info and he would call me back after 4. Called me back on 9/11. Set up appt for next day on 9/12 between 12:30 - 1. I guess I fell off the list. He never called to say he would be late or bother to show up. I understand things come up but just call. I have a life too. I waited at home for someone who never showed up. I will keep looking. Not having good luck with Angie's List.

I was very happy with the work done. John and crew showed up on time, worked fast and did a very nice job. I wasn't prepared for the amount of dust the work generated (should have warned the neighbors) but the crew cleaned up the jobsite very well each day. Based on this experience, I'd highly recommend this company.

An excellent job. The workers were neat and moved any of our outdoor furnishings away from the house. They completed the entire job in a week. There were so many folks working on the house that one of our neighbors said that it looked like there were people crawling over every inch of the place!
