Ken's Affordable Tree Service

I had a very large overgrown walnut tree in my back yard. At one point it was touching power lines. Ken and his crew showed up in the morning and got right to work. Within a few hours all the work was completed, everything was cleaned up, and the work was finished as promised. I was very impressed and the end result was better than expected. I would definitely hire Ken again and recommend him to others. Very pleased with the work.

When I called the company, I believe I spoke with Ken, and he stated he would have an estimate for me in the next few days. Like he said, we got one and the price was very good. Before I decided on which company I wanted to go with, I had a few questions. Namely, how would they remove the very tallest branches without them falling on our new screened in porch. Since I had never had a tree removed, I was unfamiliar with the process. So I called Ken to ask if he could give me a brief explanation to put me at ease and in response, I was told that he let T, (the employee who came to the house and did the estimate-I am hiding his name for privacy) go and therefore could not answer my question. At first I did not realize Ken did not see the tree, but sent someone else to gather the information, which is completely acceptable, I am sure Ken is busy, but I was not sure why as the customer, I needed to know what was going on with his personnel. But, I was willing to overlook this if he could just come by and explain the process. Instead of doing that, he wanted to know if he was "in the running" for the project. I informed him he was but I was asking all the companies that I had bids on the same question, and wanted to know how they would address my concerns. The implication I received from him was that unless he was going to get the job, he would not have time to come out and look at the tree and answer my question. I thought this was strange, but he told me he would come out in the next couple of days and take at look at it. It has been 2 weeks and I have not heard from or seen him.

It was fine! Ken arrived three weeks ago to give an estimate listing what would be done for $1500, this seemed very reasonable to me compared to other providers. He said it would be 3-4 weeks out, but called to say they had an opening yesterday. His crew arrived promptly at 8:30, and they were able to get the work done in about 4 1/2 hours. They really knew what they were doing, and did a great job!

KEN WAS SO PROMPT AND PROFESSIONAL. HE REMOVED A BIG BRANCH THAT HAD LANDED ON MY ROOF,THEN A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER REMOVE A HUGE, REALLY HUGE, TREE. THERE WAS NO TRACE OF WHERE THE TREE HAD BEEN. NO STUMP... NO ROOTS... NOTHING. IF YOU KNEW HOW REALLY BIG THIS TREE WAS , THAT STATEMENT IS AMAZING. VERY KIND AND ACCOMODATING FOR A SINGLE MOM WITH AN UNEXPECTED EXPENSE!!! Ken came here and gave me a quote on a small job. He quoted me $200.00. I said that I found you on Angie's List and that you said to mention this for the discount. Ken told me that $200 was his minimum for a job and that it would cost him $80.00 in gas to get to me so no discount. I thought this was odd because if you offer a coupon or discount you should honor your offer. I then asked him to remove a couple of big logs that were laying around so he raised the price to $225.00 still no discount. Ken told me he would come by either that Saturday or early the next week. I waited until early the following week (10 days) to call him. I gave him my name and phone number and said that he told me he would be here and I had not heard anything. I asked him to give me a call. He did not return my phone call. I am very disappointed in everything related to his services. I understand that it was a small job but I was very polite and professional with dealing with him. I will never look for his services in the future.

Ken was punctual, professional and very friendly. He walked the yard with me and we talked about each tree and he gave me a price as we went along. He wrote it up and suggested we wait a few weeks until the hot hot weather was gone. They came today as planned and went right to work. They trimmed each tree to my wishes - checking with me at each one to see if I was pleased or wanted more removed. They worked quickly and all 4 were very polite. As they trimmed the biggest tree, I asked if they could make me a few long sticks for the kids at church to roast marshmallows at an upcoming bonfire - which Ken did gladly. After each tree they raked and cleaned up with perfection. I would definitely recommend to anyone and will of course keep his card for future reference should the need arise. LG.

Ken and his crew did a great job. In removing branches, they would remove some and see if I wanted more removed. They didn't guess and constantly wanted to make sure they were trimming as little or as much as I wanted. They cleaned up all the debris. One of our large pine trees died suddenly over the weekend. They added it on to the existing job so I could get everything taken care of in one visit.

I was hoping there would be no conflict and was trying to get the work done before the weather got bad. He was very nice when he provided the estimate to my granddaughter. I think he was upset that he couldn't do the work that day because we were dealing with a plumbing issue at the time as well. I tried to make him aware, from the start, that my husband was in the hospital and it might be difficult to set up a good time for service.

I liked Ken fom the moment I met him . He was enthusiastic about his work and listened to what I wanted. When they arrived to do the job time as promised even called to keep me up to date on time that he would be here. 4 guys and Ken trimmed 4 trees and cut one down in 11/2 hrs that included clean up. My trees have never looked so good! Fun guys- great job!!!!! Made sure I was happy and I am.

It was great. Ken's estimate was very reasonable and he scheduled an appointment with my daughter in a timely manner. The tree removal and stump removal only took a 1/2 day. All the guys were professional and good at their job.

Ken came over promptly and gave me the best quote and was able to do the trimming with in a short time. He did what I asked and waited for me to approve the work when I got back from out of town to pay him.

It went well. Ken and his company were easy to work with, they were flexible, they made good suggestions, and cleaned up well afterwards.

Called Ken the morning of June 12th. He agreed to meet that afternoon at 4:30pm to provide an estimate. The estimate was reasonable so I agreed. He actually did the work the very next day! The trees were trimmed nicely and all of the limbs were chopped and hauled away. The area was left very clean. Mailed Ken a check the next day and he accepted the 10% off coupon as posted on Angie's List. Great customer service and job well done!

Ken came by my house in early April to bid on the removal of two larger trees and multiple smaller trees and honeysuckle bushes in our back yard, so we could complete a retaining wall project. Ken was prompt with phone calls, very courteous and highly professional. Not to mention, he knocked his bid out of the park -- it was very fair, and very transparent. When his crew of 4 arrived, Ken had them working with amazing efficiency. On the job site at 8:30 sharp, as promised, and finished in about 3 hours, with everything tidy. The most amazing thing was watching Ken's crew work - it was effortless, as if they could anticipate each other's next moves. With speed and precision, they systematically dismantled trees and chipped everything, leaving a very clean job site. What more could you ask for in a service? The job went really well. I chose Ken because of his ratings, reviews and he was fairly local. Ken contacted me very quickly, came out to look over the job, gave me a bid, which I felt was acceptable and booked me for a couple days later. He and his crew arrived right on time and went straight to work, cut down the tree and removed every scrap, and were gone in about two hours. Later that afternoon, someone else arrived and ground out the stump, which this person also wasted no time getting his job done. Ken called me later that evening to see if I was fully satisfied with his crews services, which I was actually more than satisfied. Should I ever need this type of service again, I will not look any further than Ken to do any future work.

called Ken for an estimate after finding him on Angie's List. He told me he would be over to my house within an hour and he was. He was very knowledgeable and showed me pictures of his trucks and equipment that he would use on my job. I ultimately chose another provider who came in about $400 less than Ken. But I will call him again for a quote the next time I need anything done with my trees.

Genius, that's what Ken is. And so are his guys. Affordable, punctual, knowledgeable, professional, tireless, thorough, efficient, clean and conscientious. Their attitude and workmanship is superb, certainly number one.

We called for an estimate, made an appointment with ken. He quoted a price and we made an appointment to have the work done. All went very smoothly.

Ken and his team did a great job of removing a large and very dead tree that was hanging over our neighbor's house. The team worked quickly and efficiently, and did a wonderful job of cleaning up. The stump was ground at the same time that the tree was removed - it was great to have the project completed all once once rather than having to wait for a separate person to come grind the stump. Deadwood was removed from two other decent sized trees in our backyard. Ken also removed a big leaf pile that we didn't know what to do with and threw in trimming some other trees around some electric wires in our yard. The whole process was easy and Ken was very professional. The yard looked great and was left very clean after their work. I contacted Ken and the work was completed within a week. I couldn't be more happy with the job. This was so much more reasonable than any other quote I got and more importantly, I felt that Ken was honest and didn't try to sneak in extra work that we didn't need. Thank you!!

Called Ken's service on Monday April 8, 2013 and left a message. he returned my call about an hour later. He came to my house that evening on time, and gave me and estimate. We set a date, he showed up on time did the job in a professional manor and even helped me move a swing set. I would recommend him to anyone in the South St. Louis area.

I caledl Ken and he returned my call the same day. We talked about what work I needed to get done. We set a day and time for Ken to come by and give me an estimate. Then he asked for my address when I told him our property was located in Saint Charles. He told me that I was located outside of his service area and ended the call.

Ken came out the week before the March 24, 13, monster snow fall to provide an estimate on tree removal and stump grinding. He emailed his estimate and as it was by far the lowest estimate, I selected his company. We subsequently agreed on 3/28/13 as the service date. When I got there after work, the tree was gone. You could not tell that there had been a sweet gum tree in the morning. Everything was cleaned up, the property was left in excellent condition. I hired him for another tree removal and recommended him to a friend of mine. Let me say this: If you need a tree removed, for a good price and excellent service, Ken's your guy!

When we moved into our new house the inspector told us to keep an eye on the 35-40' street tree in the front yard between the street and sidewalk because it had very few leaves. We were having trees trimmed in the back yard and every estimate we got noted that the tree in the front yard needed to be removed. We called the city (as they have to sign off on street tree removal) who noted that it was damaged beyond repair (due to poor care prior to our ownership) and that it had "maybe a year left before it became dangerous" (since branches overhung the street and sidewalk.) The first two quotes we were given were over $3000. On advice of a co-worker I called Ken's. Ken came out the following day provided an estimate and called me (I wasn't home) to discuss it. He advised that we would need to get the utilities marked (since our water access was right next to the tree.) He also volunteered up front that I could spread the payments out over a few months. (Something other tree removal places didn't mention until after I told them I had gone with someone else.) His final price was within $30 of the other low quote I got, so I decided to go with him (since he was easy going about payments.) He offered to call the utility marking service for me and coordinated so that he'd be out the day after they said they'd come, he only asked that I call him to confirm they did actually mark my yard the night before. Ken and his workers showed up promptly just before 9 and set straight to work. Prior to the removal Ken noticed that the tree was going to knock some of the branches of a neighbors tree during the final fall and went over to make sure our neighbor was OK with that. (There was no damage to the other tree it just brushed some of the outer branches.) The total removal took almost 8 hours (not surprising giving the size of the tree.) They put cones up in the street to block it so no cars would get hit and brought down the tree safely after removing all the branches. After grinding the stump they stayed and cleaned up meticulously leaving the area as clean as could be expected (given that it's hard to remove saw dust from grass.) Ken never even asked about the first payment until cleanup was complete when he was ready to get into his truck and ready to go. He was very polite to any of our neighbors or their visitors who came out to ask questions about the enormous tree coming down. I'm glad my co-worker recommended Ken's to me, I would use them again in the future to handle the work on the other trees in our yard and recommend them to friends.
