McGuire Lock & Safe

Locksmith Service, Commercial Locksmith Service, Auto Locksmith Service,

About us

We are a "Full Service" Lock & Safe Company, established in 1969 serving the greater Kansas City, metropolitan, and surrounding areas. We provide a wide variety of Locksmith products and services for all your security needs, commercial, residential, and automotive. Our goal is to provide you with quality service at an affordable price. So we ask ourselves, how we can best serve you. For you do it yourselfers we offer a walk in shop with a knowledgeable staff that can instruct you on how to remove and bring in your lock for service. Or we can schedule a time to come to you with our fast and friendly mobile service. So if anyone has a key that shouldn’t? We can change that; we can rekey your lock to use a different key. There are at least two good reasons to do so; the first is to regain your security, and second is to protect yourself and the other person. Because you will know that they didn’t get in with the old key. Can someone open your safe as fast as you can? Let us set a new combo for you. One that’s a little easier to remember, it’s probably cheaper than you think. Or if you get tired of dialing the safe open, maybe a digital lock upgrade is in order. Are you tired of going to the bank to get in your safe deposit box? Why not keep a personal safe at home? We offer a full line of commercial and residential safes to fit most needs. Lost the keys to your car? Or did they fall into the wrong hands? We can make a new key from scratch, or if lost or stolen we can rekey your car, so the missing keys won’t work anymore. And yes even the keys with a “chip” in them. Do you have to the jiggle your key? Or pull the key out a little to work? A new copy probably won’t help much, because a copy of a worn out key is just a new worn out key. So bring it in, along with the lock if possible, and let us know the trouble that you’re having. We can decode the cuts of the old key, and cut you a new one back to the manufactures specifications. And the new key should be as good as the original one that came with the lock. How do you hide a key to your home or office outside securely? We can show you how. Or better yet, why not let us install a push button lock for you? It’s attractive and secure, and can replace your existing doorknob or deadbolt. Who needs more keys anyway? So now if the power is out when you get home, and your garage door won’t open, you’ll be able to retrieve your spare key that is securely stored. Or push in a code of your choosing, and you’re in. And if you think someone might have seen the code you entered, you can change as often as you would like. So whether you are just curious about access control or you need to let someone go. Or wondering how you are going to move you’re safe from your old house to your new one. Or if the keys are locked in the car, house, office, of who knows where, give us a call. We can help.

The first visit was not a quality job as the door knob broke soon after installation. However they came back promptly when we called and replaced the knob, and also adjusted our deadbolt with no charge. Very professional and courteous.

The other locksmith I called was not able to do the job for us due to personal issues and he left us in a time crunch. I called McGuire the day we closed on the house and they accommodated our very tight schedule. They came the next day, first thing in the morning. The tech called in advance, showed up ready to go, and got all the locks changed in under an hour. Great service, prompt, would use again anytime.

The technician was prompt and professional and got to work right away.  He double checked each item to be sure it worked correctly and had me try each door as well.  He answered all of my questions and left his card in case there were any issues.

We just purchased a 23 year old home and wanted to have the locks changed and after looking at the hardware I decided to purchase all new hardware at Lowe's and have them installed.  I called McGuire Safe and Lock as they are very close to the house and I saw their facility while driving by.  They were nothing short of perfection. Their Locksmith (Tim) was on time, professional, pleasant, was very concerned about our home and our safety. He installed everything and keyed all the locks the same for our convenience.  He meticulously cleaned up after himself. I was very pleased and  I highly recommend them.

When I got a call from the technician saying he was on his way, he told me I would be charged for a service fee ($80) simply for the estimate (unlike Smallwood) - this was not mentioned when I made the initial appointment despite specifying that I wanted an estimate.  Next the the technician acted very unhappy and pissy about being asked to remove his shoes when entering my home. (I'm asian and this is partly a cultural issue.)  Despite having my air conditioning clearly running, he left all the doors standing wide open when he went back to his truck. While he did the work relatively quickly with the cost being lower than the estimate, and was able to install a deadbolt which pretty much matched the finishes of the other locks, he left a mess.  He did NOT clean up after himself and we had to vacuum and clean up the wood chips and other detritus.  I frankly regretted dealing with him and his attitude.  I wish I would have gone with Smallwood Lock & Key and will do so in the future.

We hired McGuire Lock & Safe to change the locks in our new house.  We received great communication leading up to the appointment and they were able to accommodate us in a timely manner.  The work was done well and the price was fair for the services performed.  We felt some pressure to buy more keys than we needed in the end.  That being said, we would probably use this company again.

I called in the morning and was told a technician would be able to do the work by mid-afternoon.  I requested a call before the arrival and received one around 1 pm.  The technician arrived in about 20 minutes and went to work.  He worked efficiently and professionally.  He also answered some questions I had  and provided 5 keys to the locks..  The work was completed in less than an hour.

They did not have a replacement but referred me to someone who might have a replacement.  They also put new door handle and lock, which has a combination on it, on another door in my house.

I had purchased all of the door hardware beforehand.  The locksmith only installed the hardware and re-drilled one of the two doors to accommodate the new deadbolt..  There were no surprises with the installation.  The work was completed exactly as I had anticipated.  The charges for the actual installation were reasonable.  Only the $70.00 trip charge seemed to me a bit steep.

I purchased a new home and since there were 4 different brands of locks, it was easier to have them rekeyed. I took them to McGuire's and they were able to rekey everything. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and was able to rekey all the locks with only 2 different keys. (1 brand was not compatable.) He was able to do all this the same afternoon. I would definitely use them for all my lock and key needs.

My ignition would not turn at all in my Ford F150.  I first called a locksmith located about 4 blocks from my house.  They were less than helpful and didn't really seem like they wanted to deal with it.  So I called McGuire Lock and Safe because of the high ratings on Angie's List.  When I first called, they gave me some things to try to get the key to turn.  I appreciated them trying to get it fixed.  None of those ideas worked however so I called them back around noon. They said they thought someone would make it out that afternoon.
About 3:30 I received a call from someone saying they were on their way.  About a half hour later they arrived.  I believe the locksmith who came out was named Bob.  Very nice guy and went right to work.  He was unable to un-jam the ignition so he had to completely drill it out and install a new cylinder.  After about 45 minutes, he had my truck operational again.
I also requested that he make a new key as I only received one when I bought the truck.  The key is one of those with a chip inside so it did add to the cost but I now have a second key.
They were a great company to deal with.

I called them on Tuesday to ask them about making a set of keys for my son's car, he had lost his 3rd set and the car had set in our driveway for a couple weeks not knowing what it would cost us to replace them. I had called a couple other places closer to me and was told they couldn't help me or that it would cost between $175-$200. McGuire looked up the year and make of my car and told me it would cost approx. $48 but I would need to bring them the title and/or proof of insurance so they were able to see that I did own the vehicle. Although it was quite a drive for me it seemed worth it for the price. I made my way to the Shop on Wednesday morning at 7:30am and by 7:45am I was on my way home. Not only did they make me 2 new keys but they gave me the car code to keep in my file incase this should happen again and was told with that code any locksmith in my area could make me a new set. Then to top it off the cost was only $35. Great people who truely look out for their customers!  I would make the drive to give them my business everytime!

The locksmith wasn't very friendly, but not rude...   Did the job ok, but price was double what the ex-wife paid to have this done about 1 month prior using another locksmith.
