 + 1 moreI was very pleased with Air Comfort. After they looked at the old equipment, I got a complete breakdown of the charges on the bid. Their bid was $3000 less than another company for a high efficiency unit. They arrived early and worked quickly. It was in July, so they had the air conditioning working first by about 11 AM and continued to work on the heat. They were all finished by 3 PM. The installation was very professional and everything was cleaned up when they finished. They also installed a flue liner, chimney cap, and compressor pad for much less than half of what the other company had quoted. They also arranged financing through the local gas company.
Description of Work: Air Comfort replaced my 18 year old furnace and air conditioner.

 + -1 moreWent very well. Repairman was polite, on time, showed us everything he was doing, no pressure to do anything extra. We did buy the maintenance package to have them service the air conditioner in the spring as we were impressed with their work.
Description of Work: We called for regular yearly maintenance of furnace and because our gas furnace was making occasional loud "booms" that had us worried. Repairman showed automatic igniter was on it's last legs and replaced it along with our humidifier filter, which was desperately in need of replacement.

The repairman paged me prior to meeting me at the house so I could stay at work as long as possible. The problem was quickly taken care of in a polite, thorough, somewhat impersonal way. The overall cost was acceptable.
Description of Work: Diagnosed a problem with a central air conditioner and replaced faulty contacts in the outside unit.

 + -1 moreMy old HCAV company diagnosed the problem as a bad compressor. I got on Angie's List before deciding on who would replace the system. The old company had a "B" rating. (I'd never thought they were outstanding, but I didn't know who to change to. Now I did.). Steve came out the next day, evaluated the problem, asked pertinent questions (none of which were addressed by the old company), and gave me a quote on the spot that was substantially less than their competitor. All work was done on time. They covered the carpet with a tarp to keep it clean on their way in and out with the equipment. They even worked the noise around a sleeping baby's schedule! The techs answered all questions. Informed me of a mold problem in the insulation and furnished solutions without pushing. All in all, an A+ experience.

 + -1 moreBoth times I was very impressed with the efficiency of this company in getting the work done. Price was fair and this company tried their best and succeeded in getting the work done the same day. Very professional!! They know their business.
Description of Work: On Monday 08/14/06 the furnace was replaced for $1674.00 and on Tuesday 08/15/06 the A/C evaporator coil unit was replaced for $551.00. Vince who came out on both times to diagnose the problems explained it to my satisfaction. He even drew a picture to show me the problems. Our old unit was very old with bad wiring. After the furnace was replaced there was water dripping onto it that I noticed from the old "A" frame evaporator coils that would have damaged the new furnace if the A/C continued to run. Vince showed me that the next day.

Description of Work: Leak in the A-Coil was identified by a different company. The other company was going to charge me $1485 to replace it. Air Comfort did the exact same repair for $687. What a difference!

 + -1 moreI appreciate their practice of giving you either a morning or afternoon appointment, then calling you a half hour before they arrive. This meant that I did not have to wait at home until the repairman arrived. It allowed me to work most of the day. The repairman was courteous, professional, and explained everything he was doing. He provided information about the new thermostat and did not try to sell me a more expensive model. He also provided information on how to help the air conditioner run more efficiently. I will definitely use them again if needed.
Description of Work: My air conditioner had stopped running. They diagnosed the problem and completed the repairs which included replacing the thermostat and bringing the freon up to the appropriate level. I called first thing in the morning and they completed the repairs in the same day.

 + -1 moreGreat experience. They were extremely quick to come to my house, kept me informed of when they'd arrive, and did a great job. The repairman was very polite, honest, and informative.
Description of Work: In the middle of a heat wave, our air conditioner was running nonstop and "cooling" the house to 84 degrees. I called on a Friday morning, fully expecting to have to wait until the following week and was told someone could be out that morning. Within an hour, I got a call telling me that someone would be out within half an hour. About an hour later, I got another call saying that someone would be out in half an hour. I understood the wait- things come up. It's nice that they kept me informed. The guy came out and got right to work. It turns out that we had coils clogged with cotton and a filter in the blower unit that was clogged. He fixed both problems, explained how to prevent it from recurring, and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. I told the guy how happy I was that he could get to my house so quickly and he replied that "given the heat, we try to hustle." He spent just under an hour at my home. The air was already cooling as he left.

 + -1 moreI would use Air Comfort again. Everyone I dealt with was professional and courteous. The representative educated me on my a/c and furnace. He put a lot of effort and time in trying to determine the cause.
Description of Work: I have been hearing a dripping noise after the a/c and furnace shut off. I called Air Comfort to help determine what could be the cause and for a recommendation for a solution. I have a finished basement ceiling, so where the sound was believed to be coming from was impossible to confirm. The determination by Air Comfort's representative was that perhaps some insulation has deteriorated off of the refrigerant coil and is dripping on the vent. That would account for the drip after the a/c shuts off but not the drip after the furnace shuts off. So the cause of the dripping is still unconfirmed.

 + -1 moreI'm so happy. The repairman came the day I called. He diagnosed my system as shot, and that I need a whole new system. He only charged me for the travel, which was $75. The estimator knew what I needed, and called back that day. Actually they would have been able to replace the air conditioner and furnace the next day, but I had to work. They replaced it the next day I was off, which was 4-5 days later and completed all the work in 7 hours. Actually, the St. Louis area was in an electric crunch because of the serious storm that happened during that week. These nice guys and showed me how to work the high tech thermostat. I was so thankful that they reconnected my dryer hose!!! I will give them an A for price, but I did not get any other estimates.
Description of Work: He diagnosed my old system as "shot." He replaced with new Carrier efficient air conditioner, evaporator coils, furnace and thermostat.

Description of Work: Twice yearly Furnace and Air Conditioning checkups. They clean and inspect all aspects of the two units for the forthcoming heating or A/C season. The $277 is for TWO checkups for TWO furnace/AC units for the year - and provides me with a service maintenance agreement. (I'm supposed to get top priority if I ever have a problem.)

 + -1 moreJohn showed up within the 4 hour window I was given for the appointment time. I was supposed to get a call 1/2 hour before he came out, and no one called, but fortunately I was home anyway. John was polite, took time to explain everything and did not try to sell me repairs I didn't need. Overall I was very impressed with the service.
Description of Work: My AC was making a loud noise, and since I'd recently moved into this home, I wanted someone to check it out. A technician named John came out and checked the unit. He said the AC seems to be working fine, it's just a noisy compressor. He said it could've been noisy from day one or it might be that the unit is just getting old. He tried a couple of things to reduce the noise that didn't help. He advised that it's not worth replacing the AC at this time, if I can live with the noise. I was only charged the $69.00 diagnostic fee, even though the technician was here almost an hour and did try to fix the problem.

THE SAME SERVICEMAN CAME OUT FOR BOTH THE A/C AND THE HEATING CHECKUP, ALTHOUGH I DON'T KNOW IF THIS WAS INTENTIONAL. HE WAS FRIENDLY, PROFESSIONAL AND PUNCTUAL. THE INSTALLATION OF THE CONTACTOR--APPARENTLY JUST A SMALL RELAY, DID SEEM A LITTLE PRICEY ($100). THE COMPANY SENDS SEASONAL REMINDERS ABOUT GETTING THE FURNACE AND A/C SERVICED. ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE: WHEN ON ONE OCCASION WE HAD TROUBLE WITH OUR FURNACE ON A SUNDAY, WE CONTACTED THE COMPANY AND FOUND THEM UNWILLING TO GIVE US ANY ADVICE OVER THE PHONE; THE BEST THEY COULD OFFER WAS AN EMERGENCY SERVICE CALL. I KNOW THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED TO GIVE ADVICE OVER THE PHONE, BUT SOME COMPANIES DO.
Description of Work: WHEN WE MOVED TO OUR CONDO, THE A/C WAS NOT WORKING. AIR COMFORT SERVICE SENT SOMEONE OUT PROMPTLY. THE PROBLEM TURNED OUT TO BE A FAULTY CIRCUIT BREAKER, BUT THE A/C NEEDED GENERAL CLEANING AND A NEW CONTACTOR AS WELL. THEY SIGNED US UP FOR A "SERVICE CONTRACT" THAT INCLUDED BOTH AN A/C SERVICE CALL AND A HEATING SERVICE CALL.

(EVERY LEVEL PERSON THAT I HAD CONTACT WITH AT THE COMPANY - FROM THE RECEPTIONIST TO THE SALESMAN -SEEMED TO HAVE MY BEST INTEREST AS THEIR GOAL). THEY INSTALLED THE UNITS THE DAY AFTER I APPROVED THE CONTRACT. AFTER THE FIRST QUOTE, ALL THE COMMUNICATION WAS OVER THE PHONE WHICH WAS CONVENIENT FOR ME SINCE I WORK.
