They did a fantastic job. Jeff honored a decent estimate on my deck that he had given me a few months ago even though he was much busier now than then. He gave fair estimates on the other work, too. The work was done quickly and professionally and they cleaned up after the work was done. This is the second time I've used this company for work and I plan to use them again in the near future. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: This company did three separate jobs: (1) They powerwashed, repaired and painted my deck, (2) removed a 25 foot Scotch Pine tree; and, (3) removed an old fence and cleared out a heavily weeded landscape area.

It went very well ... Jeff and his crew arrived well before 8am to get started. Took out the tree and started working on the retaining wall. Once the wall was completed, they prepared that area to be seeded and put down the grass seed and straw. Also cleared the planting area of weeds and vines. Basically they did everything they set out to do and had it all done before 1pm. They all worked very hard and efficiently to get the project complete.
Description of Work: Remove a diseased pear tree and prepare the area around it to enhance our back yard. Added a short retaining wall to address a drainage issue that would have made it more difficult to reclaim grass in that portion of the back yard. Prepared back yard in the area where pear tree was for seeding, seeded and put straw over seeded area. Also cleared a medium-sized planting area of weeds and vines that had grown on the ground and into the adjacent fence.

Jeff did a great job and was able to offer some great ideas for my patio. He was open to my ideas and feedback and incorporated them into the project. I had a couple of problems months later and Jeff came back and fixed for no charge.

Response from A Handyman & A Greenthumb
I wanted to take a chance to clarify what the "problems" were. We installed some low voltage lighting in the retaining walls which looked very nice. The wire was buried on the back side of the wall and due to some natural settling, the wires were exposed and the Member had ran over them with the lawn mower. I returned to the job and repaired the mangled mess and explained to the Member that if he added a little dirt after the settling occured, there would have been no issues. We appreciated the work and have had several compliments on the completed project. Thanks again Member!

I called Jeff for an estimate. He came out the next day and gave me a quote. It was the lowest one, and from the other reviews from Angie's list, I hired him for the work I wanted. He told me it would probably be the beginning of August (which was a couple of months) and he would call me when the time got closer. He performed the work a week before schedule. In the meantime, we kept in touch through email. He answered all my questions pertaining to what type flowers and plants I wanted. Jeff and his crew arrived at 7:45 on the 26th, and finished the same day. They were very hard workers, and very nice, polite guys. Jeff consulted me about where I wanted the plants before he planted anything. Every thing else he had already determined before he arrived through our emails. They cleaned up everything very nicely, and put grass seed and straw around the landscaping area that didn't have grass left ( a very small edge around the work area.) I absolutely love the new look. Jeff gave me instructions about the plants and grasses. I will hire him again, with no need to get other estimates. Very pleased with everything.
Description of Work: All weeds and rocks removed from the north side of the house. Graded and dug a drainage area so water would run away from house. Added new weed barrier, planting soil, and landscaping stones for a 3 tiered landscaped area along the whole side of the house. Added flat stone tiles at the top of the yard for a level area for water hose. Planted 3 azalea plants, 5 hosta plants, and mulch for the entire area. Graded an approximately 5 X 5 area at the end of the driveway. Removed all old landscape rock, and weeds. Added new weed barrier, river rock, and 3 maiden grasses. Arranged a few of my large rocks that were in the area, and mulched a small area for later flower plantings. Also, put landscaping stone edging around the outside edge.

Everything went very smoothly, other than the weather causing some delays because of rain.
Description of Work: Jeff & his crew replaced the first four sections of our driveway, one section of our front sidewalk, and poured a patio in our back yard underneath our deck. I've never seen guys work as hard as they did - they started the first morning at 8 am & left at 8 pm. They were punctual, hard working and did a great job.

The project went very well. Jeff dropped by and collected the data/measurements he needed on the day and time we agreed upon and the bid was e-mailed to me the next morning. We originally wanted just steps; a week later, we asked him to modify the bid to add a sidewalk to the project. Ten or so days later, we requested that he also pour a patio so the bid had to be reworked a third time. Throughout all of this, Jeff was very accommodating and made time to return to our home and collect his data for each modification. Jeff and his crew are professional, timely and reasonably priced. This was a spring project, rain hampered his efforts to get started right away. This was a good thing since it gave us additional time to reassess the project and make additions. From start to finish, Jeff kept us informed of his plans and projected construction date.
Description of Work: We live in a home with a walkout basement. Jeff's crew was hired to add steps, sidewalk and a patio to our home. Steps were poured from our garage door down to the backyard. A sidewalk was added from the base of the stairs along the side of the house to an area below our deck where a patio was poured as well. A small tree was temporarily removed and replanted to allow the team access to the project area; no harm to the tree at all. They were very careful in the yard making sure that none of the other plants or flowers were disturbed. When the project was complete, there was no mess or debris left in the yard.

I've hired Jeff in the past and he always does an outstanding job. He gets back to you quickly and always gives a detailed and fair estimate. He also listens to what you want to accomplish and offers ideas on how to get it done. He's prompt and and professional. And I always get a call from him after the job is completed to follow-up and ensure I'm completely happy with the work. Anytime I have work like this, Jeff is my first call.

I can't say enough about the quality of work we received from Jeff Watkins!! He arrived when he said he would, he did what he said he would do and he was a professional during the entire process. My husband is a "stickler" about who does work at our home...very few pass his high standards, but after meeting Jeff for the first time, he was impressed with Jeff's knowledge and strong work ethics. If we ever need concrete work done again, we will not hesitate to call Jeff to do the job!

The weather was not especially cooperative - it took longer to pour the patio than we had all hoped, but it was well worth the wait. Otherwise, everything was done when it was stated it would be done, and we were kept up to date on the patio project via e-mail, regarding the start date. He discussed every detail in advance and provided pictures of previous projects. He did an excellent job and we are very pleased. We will use this contractor for our next project.
Description of Work: Dug out and raised window well - basement has not leaked since! This was done late last fall. Dug out old bushes and added new dirt in front of house. Buried a downspout from back of house out toward street. Stone steps from kitchen door to stone patio. Retaining wall around new concrete patio, which was colored and stamped (and looks amazing!). Concrete sidewalk, also colored and stamped, from new patio around side of house to driveway. Very good cleanup. We had to go out of town before they were fiinished, and he even locked our fence gates for us!

They promptly returned my call for an estimate and came right out, inspected the job, provided helpful suggestions to solve the drainage issue, and provided a detailed and fair estimate that same day. Even though the weather was erratice, they worked around it by breaking the job into three tasks and getting it all done in just two trips (which is amazing given the sub-zero temps and constant snowfall this winter). They'll be the first company I'll call for future jobs.

Jeff is very professional and did an excellent job. He described what he recommended when he first came out to my house, discussed various options, gave good suggestions, and then completed the job in a very timely manner. Many neighbors have remarked to me how nice my yard looks, and commented on the nice clean up job he did afterwards. He spent over two hours cleaning the driveway and street area. He laid down plywood sheets to protect my yard while he worked. I am very pleased with the work, and would highly recommend him. He is a very hard worker, and does high quality work.

We had two pieces of fence that were dented. He said he would have to take the chain link out of all of it. He also said some of the posts needed to be replaced, which was not true. He has a minimum of $180 for his guys to come out. I asked for a written estimate and he never sent it. He was a nice guy, but I would not consider using him and would not recommend him.

I had given her a verbal estimate for the whole project and she said that it was too much money, and asked about a few other small jobs that I told here I would do for a minimum of of $180. At that time I felt confident that she knew how much it was going to cost to have me come out.

Really excellent experience. Called Jeff on a Saturday and left a message. He returned my call first thing Monday morning and was able to come out and give an estimate and talk through our options the next day. Was right on time and very professional. The next day he emailed a quote with a very nice breakdown of what each part of the project would cost as well as when he'd be able to get started. The quote came in significantly less than we anticipated. He said it might be as much as 3 weeks before he could get started on the project, but 4 days after we agreed to his quote he said he had an opening in his schedule and he could get started. He showed up early, got started, and got a huge amount of very high quality work done before a storm moved in. Great care was obviously taken in leaving the work site clean and he did a great job of leveling the ground, laying gravel, and just generally making everything look perfect. He returned first thing the next day to finish up the project and we are super happy with it. Thanks Jeff! Will definitely use him again should the need arise.

Jeff and crew were on time, worked hard, and went out of their way to protect the existing lawn. Block and cap used look great. Styling of walls and steps is excellent. Clean-up after was good, including re-seeding of the yard where previous errosion had occured and washed away the lawn. The scope of the project was expanded mid-stream. Jeff accommodated the changes and expansion. We had a major rainstorm right after the work was completed. The rain water was collected by the drain tile system, and no washing occured. Walls and tile did their job 100%.

The owner was very easy to work with, and was very prompt and professional. The quality was good, and I believe they improved the quality of the steps by installing rebar and expanding the step. The only disappointing factor was that the detail on the step and sidewalk section were not made to match the existing walk exactly, although it was close.
Description of Work: The step leading up to our front door had cracked and dropped away from the landing. They replaced the step and the first slab of the sidewalk connecting, also widening the step and walk as an improvement. They also replaced and painted some siding on our house that had woodpecker damage.

Jeff Watkins was very responsive from our initial contact with him until the job was completed. He kept us updated on the estimated time that he would start the job until they would be finished, and he was right on target. They were very professional and worked in a very efficient manner. We were very pleased that they protected the yard as much as possible with sheets of plywood while they used their equipment to remove the concrete and extra soil. They also used wheel barrows to take the concrete to the back yard to minimize the damage to the existing lawn. We were impressed by their willingness to do the extra labor to save the existing lawn and landscape. It is now two weeks later, and the yard has nearly recovered because they took the time to bring in topsoil and seed any damaged areas.
Description of Work: They removed an old concrete slab and poured a new colored and stamped concrete patio, built two low retaining walls, moved stairs from the deck above the patio, and rebuilt part of the deck.

Jeff was able to stop by within a day or two of me contacting him to look at the job and give me a price. I was only planning on having them do the dirt work but he told me because of the minimum labor cost it would be worth it to also have them lay the weed barrier and spread the rock, and believe me, it was well worth it!!! They came by and did the whole thing while I was at work so when I got home it was all done and cleaned up. They did a great job too.

This was a wonderful experience. Jeff and his crew worked with us at every step in this process to make sure we would be happy with the end result. There were several unexpected events during the project, but that did not make things any more difficult for us. It was necessary to adjust the cost, but that was completely understandable based on the extra work required. A big problem we had before the work was done was water running into our garage during heavy rains. The new concrete has completely eliminated that problem. Jeff has worked on three different projects for us now. He has always shown up when he told us he would be there, arriving early every day and often working more than 8 hours. In addition, he has always been willing to explain what he was doing and answer any questions. His crew is equally hardworking and thoughtful about minimizing damage to our property. One extra that was not in the original bid was to remove our old deck since it was sitting on top of some of the concrete to be removed. Unfortunately when he was hauling it off, a truck got stuck in our yard and left some significant ruts. He fixed these and reseeded it to make it right without any cost to us. He cleans up thoroughly when he is done so there is no need to pick up after he is gone. He also makes sure to leave things at least as good as they were before the work was done.
Description of Work: All concrete around our house was removed and replaced. We had a concrete patio with a cistern in it, which was also drained and then filled with some of the old concrete and concrete poured over it. During the project we found out we needed to have foundation-type piers poured for a room we planned to build. We also modified the project to add a decorative stone facing on a wing wall next to our garage. We decided to color all the concrete and had him stamp the front porch and back patio. This project took about 3 weeks and he was here every morning early to get started.

He did a great job and worked this in quickly this winter. I needed to install an electrical outlet in the wall while he had the paneling off and before he put the drywall up. This was not a problem at all for him to work around me so I could get this done easily. He always tries to be as accomodating as possible to minimize any disruption caused by the work. He cleans up thoroughly when he is done so there is no need to pick up after he is gone. He also left us with some of the remains of the supplies he used for our own use on other projects.
Description of Work: Jeff and his crew removed wood paneling and replaced it with drywall on one wall in our basement. This involved working around a door frame, electrical circuit box and attached transfer switch.
