This person has really disappointed us. The old adage of no good deed goes unpunished is true in this case. We hired him and made the mistake of trying to help out a family that was in need. The owner, Max Misemer, told us that he was a big contractor in California, fell on hard times with the economy and had moved to Mo. to get a fresh start. He had a business in California as Cornerstone Demolition which I verified and couldn't find anything negative on via internet. Stated he had worked on big commercial jobs along with 'homes of the stars'. We hired him for the above projects in March which he assured us would be completed by the end of May. It is now end of August. The kitchen doors that he made are warping. The pantry he built is still incomplete. He did finish the resetting of the windows, and the hardwood entry in the living room. The entry project from the garage is still incomplete and the siding has been torn off of the house since March and is still off. Our tale of woe started when we let him move his equipment into our shop so he would have access to his saws and compressors etc. on the job site and not have to go back and forth from here to his home. We also let him move over pallets of wood he was about to lose due to his nonpayment of the storage rental... he had 3 storage units costing him $100.00 a month each. We thought this would help him out financially saving him $300.00 a month. He agreed that he would pay for electric used in our shop because he also made furniture in his spare time under "Max's Woodworking". The problem is that he made draws on our contracts almost every other week... 3 weeks into project he took off and went to California for a week or so. When he came back he worked almost daily for one week, then we found that he had taken on a project from a local wood products sales company and was using our shop to do this and quit working on our home all together. This went on for a couple of weeks, until confronted, at which time he would come into the house for maybe an hour do some work and then would not show again for a couple of days. We agreed to give him 2 weeks off our job to complete the other job with the understanding that he would get back on our house and complete it. He stated he needed to get this extra job done as it would lead to a permanent contract for him and we understood that he needed a permanent cash flow. The problem is that after the 2 weeks, which ended up a month, we asked him when he was going to finish our job which made him mad and he pulled all of his equipment out of our shop and set back up in his home. Then we hardly ever saw him. We would call and text which he would not answer and actually had to go to his house. He would always have an excuse why he couldn't be there for a day or two and then did not show when he said he would. Like I said, we learned that trying to help people and hiring a contractor to do work do not work. Once we told him that he had drained us and there was no more for him to draw ( this on top of the fact that we did a personal loan for $660.00 and paid their rent for one month for $600.00) he has not come back. We have since learned that he has done a similar thing to our exmayor and a deck project. This is a nightmare that I hope other people can learn from. DO NOT LET CONTRACTORS DRAW FROM YOUR JOB UNTIL WORK IS COMPLETED. BUY YOUR MATERIALS BUT DO NOT LET THEM DRAW UNTIL DONE. So here we sit with a home exposed to the elements, and inside job not completed and we have already paid him and then some (BAD ON US) and now we have to come up with more money to pay someone else to complete this project. Bottom line, this is not a reliable company.
