They came out and looked at the tree. They decided they could do something but didn't have to. They came out to just give an estimate. They didn't take advantage of the situation and were very honest.

The workers showed up on time. We asked that they saved some of the wood from the two trees being removed for fire wood, not only did they save the wood but they also cut it into usable lengths. The remaining tree stumps were ground down very nicely. The main goal of the pruning was to remove the lower branches and to open up the trees. The workers were very nice and asked questions to clarify any of the work to be done. We were very happy with both the tree removal and pruning work that was done.

I called for a free estimate and the next day Steve came out to look at all my trees as I had requested. He left a detailed estimate at my door (I was at work while he was there). He recommend pruning three trees - the maples and an elm tree, and possibly removal of a crabapple tree - that had been pruned by the previous homeowner and is dying. One of the reasons I called S & S is because they are arborists and I wanted to make sure the trees were pruned properly. I decided at this time to only have the two maples pruned. On the scheduled day a crew of workers came out to prune the trees. They were on time and very professional. The trees look beautiful and they cleaned up the yard. They also asked if I wanted to keep some of the wood/logs for the fire pit. I will definitely use S & S again. I received three estimates and their pricing was competitive and/or comparable to others. I chose them for their knowledge of trees and their professionalism.

Sales man came and gave us an estimate. We asked how long the wait was. He checked and said tomorrow. Went for it. We were not home when the crew came. Everything was cleaned up fine.

I have had our 175 year-old elm inoculated against Dutch Elm disease by S&S tree service several times. They were very informative about the process, were punctual, and professional. Our neighbor lost their elm and we were very concerned ours may become infected, but it is still going strong. They were also helpful in examining our other large trees and offer advice on steps we should take to keep them healthy as well. I will continue to use them and highly recommend them to others.

Perhaps I should have CHECKED that before I paid to get an estimate, but wouldn't you think a company with a name like S&S Tree and Horticultural Specialists" could both cut down and trim trees. Nah. They told me I'd have to get someone else to do the heavy work and then they'd come back to make it look nicer. Thanks - but no thanks! The estimator was polite and professional, however.

They did an excellent work. They did a nice job cleaning up afterwards. The trees are large, and there is stuff dropping all over the place because they are up in the canopy, but they did a very nice job of cleaning up after themselves as well as pruning and trimming what I had wanted them to do. I would use them again in the future.

They are very punctual, in fact they have come out to remove trees covering my driveway while the storm was still in progress! They do not damage your trees with climbing spikes, and they never damage your lawn. They don't drive any equipment on your lawn but carry everything out by hand, even if you remove a large tree. S&S are also good about looking over your trees and making suggestions about what needs work now, and what can wait. I would never use another company!

Had a tree that was split at the base by a windstorm, posing immediate risk of falling down. Was very difficult getting any timely response from any tree service for help. Finally got help from another company.

S & S Tree and Horticultural Specialists is the tree removal, tree trimming arborists’ service here in St Paul. They have fabulous people. They are higher prices than everybody else but you don’t have to worry about anything. When they come out even the street is swept when they are done. Price they are more expensive but the quality of their service is worth it. You don’t have to worry about anything. I have had trees taken down in between wood framed buildings and if they had dropped a tree we would have lost one of our buildings but they did not scratch anything. They did it over a 6ft high fence and they did not touch the fence either. They know what they are doing. When they send out a crew I thought they would send out a couple of guys, but they send out about nine guys took out the trees and were gone in 40 minutes. You pay for the whole crew, you pay for all the trucks but like they say when they are done it is perfect. We will use them again.

I thought they did an excellent job. They were on time, courteous and reasonably priced. I would recommend them to others.

It was fantastic. From the moment I saw the plan they put together I could not wait to see it in real life. They guys that come to the job were professional and very hard working and delivered an outstanding result that we are proud to show to our friends and family. Previously we did not enjoy using our backyard but we just love being out there. I plan to have them back to work on the front yard this year!

This is the second time I have used these folks and the experience was excellent. I thought the price was fair. The work was accomplished at the agreed time and the clean up was perfect. I will go to these folk again if I need this type of service.

We have an Ash tree, and they've treated it for the Emerald Ash Borer invasion. They are very professional, and answered any questions I had. We are happy with their services, but they seem to be a bit on the pricey side. At least the tree still looks good! I'll continue to use them in the future.

Amy, one of their Certified Arborists, came out in late September and reviewed all of the trees and shrubs in my yard. She was very knowledgeable, giving multiple alternatives depending on how much work I wanted to have done. She sent me an estimate with various options as I requested. After I made by selections, she scheduled the work which was done about 3 weeks later.The work that the crew did was very professional. They had the right equipment to do the job and competed the work promptly including removing all of the debris.

The tree specialist was very nice and knowledgeable. They guarantee the work so they did come back a second time to stop the spread.

Came to the estimate on time. Available to do the work in a reaonable amount of time, Showed up on time, Took out 3 trees, cleaned up mess, no damage and removed bushes. Price was exactly what he bid. Nice guy too.

It was easy to get the quote. They were informative and so on, but they were expensive. They came out and explained what they would do and gave me a quote on the price, and that is just what I asked for. They came out when they said they would. They were professional in their estimate and told me what they would do and how they would do it. The work is being done now by another company.

Called them, they came and bid, scheduled a time, showed up and performed the service. I did not get multiple bids, so don't know if it was the best price.

They are professional and prompt. Mark Stennis is as knowledgable as one can find about oak wilt and options to deal with it. They perform at the price they quote and do their best not to damage other landscape items as they work. They are somewhat more expensive than individual contractors so I use them for the "hard stuff" and the "high stuff" and use a smaller player for minor pruning lower to the ground.

The job went very well. They were very efficient. The trees are healthy. They took away all the debris. It was great. I would recommend them to others. They completed the job before they asked for payment, which was really good. I would use them again in the future if necessary.

Great Service. Showed up on time for both the estimate and the work. Did what they said they would do and cleaned everything up. I had a couple competitive bids and S&S was right there with price.

Overall, the experience was great. The technicans were knowledgeable and willing to do what we were asking without personal preference or any problems. We called another tree service company and basically said they wouldn't do the work because of their personal preference on how to do the work. They're more expensive, but very good. They were courteous to our neighbors when they trimmed a few trees that was along the property line. Everything went very well.

I had just finished some e extensive landscaping under the tree...okay bad planning but not one plant suffered the wrath of trimmed branches of boots on the ground!
