Because of my work schedule it was difficult for me to deal
with my insurance company. My agent just gave me an 800 number and washed his
hands of the situation. Suppressing how many lunch brakes I spent on hold.
Windows Concepts spent a lot of time working with my
insurance company and I, they where able to 'cut through' the paper work.

The crew was excellent, They cleaned up after them
self's no nails or scraps of siding. The fascia work looks exceptional. The
work was done when the tempter was in the mid 40^s. I an happy to say that the
siding was installed so that it could expand and contract with the changing of
the season. So often vinyl siding is not installed properly and will buckle in
the summers heat. Not this siding they did a great job.

The sales guy did a good job explaining everything. However, I was not impressed with the product. The frames are hollow. I don't care what they say, dead air space is NOT a good insulator. Otherwise, we would not bother putting insulation in the walls of our home.
The window ratings that they gave me were for COG (Center of Glass) on a 1and quot; glass cube. This is not the whole door/window rating. The sales guy was not aware of the difference. Given the frames, I don't think the whole window ratings could be nearly as good as the COG ratings. The sales guy was also not aware that different windows will have different ratings with the NFRC. A slider is different from a double hung is different from a casement is way different from sliding glass doors.
Not enough knowledge and the product looked questionable to me. I am definately not doing business with Window Concepts of MN.

Great windows, great services. Easy to understand value and pricing. From the initial estimate to completely installed windows was a remarkably easy experience.

We met Bob Davis at a local Home Show and set up an appointment to meet at our home. Bob came to our home and gave us a presentation on his product line and services. He took measurements and worked up a proposal. After reviewing a number of proposals, we decided to go with Window Outfitters. We were most impressed with their attention to detail and dedication to customer satisfaction. There were other "less expensive" options, but we feel the attention to detail, quality products and quality of installation from Window Concepts were well worth the slightly higher price. The windows were ordered and installation started upon their arrival. The work was done when scheduled, but took slightly longer than anticipated. Better done right than quickly in my book. The new windows, doors and doorway look fantastic. We have already noticed that they make the home quieter. We can feel the difference in heat transmission and can't wait to see the improvement in energy bills. We definitely feel like we got a superior product at a fair price. We would recommend Window Concepts to anyone.

They were very heavy on the sales end. The salespeople spent all afternoon with us to close the deal. The crew was late on the day of the installation, and then one of them had the nerve to complain about how tired they were (at 9:30 am). Very unprofessional. After the door was installed, it wasn't exactly as they had described it in their sales pitch, especially the screen door. They had not used any putty on the finishing nails in the painted regions of the sidelite dividers so they were all very visible. They had also split the wood trimming around the door (which I asked them NOT to install so I could stain it first) and just left it, as if we wouldn't care. The screen door also didn't close properly on its own. These were all minor issues, but ones I expected to be addressed.

When I called to follow up/complain to the office, I could not get a call back. Now, this was at the end of the federal tax rebate period for energy efficient doors/appliances, so I gave them a break, assuming they were extra busy at the end of the year. However, the new year came and went (when the rebate deadline was done) and they were still not returning my calls. Finally, they did come out to fix the aesthetic problems. However, they insisted the screen door was fine, which I still find hard to accept (it either doesn't latch when it closes, even with the screen insert in, or it slams so hard you have to jump out of the way -- not the level of service I expected for the price. I'm quite sure they mounted the pneumatic cylinder in the wrong place on the door.

Finally, during the sales process we had decided to get a screen door with two window panels with a horizontal bar separating them. To change the door from windows to screens we have to remove the panels and replace them. We chose this style over one with a sliding window pane so that we could have both panels screened for extra air flow. When the screen door came, they only gave us on screen panel, which negates the benefit and just makes it lessconvenient. Well, the deal was done and they had no interest in accomodating us. Finally they said they could order the second screen panel but that we would have to pay the $45 for it. After we paid $4500 for the project they can't throw in a $45 screen that we expected to have in the first place? Unbelievable and almost insulting! I refused to do it on principle.

The windows we bought appear to be a good product, the reason we chose this estimate. Our issue was with the install of the windows and the quality of that install. Our windows were all put in in one day, we replaced most of the windows on our four season porch windows and two sliding doors. All you have to do is look from one side to the other of the porch to know that different people did the installs and carpenter work. To make it look professional again we are planning to have someone come in and redo all of the trim (trim work looks terrible currently as they replaced most of it, which we did not expect) on the new sliding doors and windows, so that it all matches again. So we have good windows and are just now finally getting things worked out with this company. I do know people so have had insulation done by the company with no issues. One I thing to know, you have to negotiate before you sign a contract!
Note I gave a B to quality for the quality of the windows, not the install. I gave a B on price as it was good after negotiating it down.

On 3/24/11 I notified them that there were issues with the quality of the work done by the installers. I didn't receive a response so I sent another email on 3/31/11. JoAnne from Window Concepts finally responded on 4/1/11 and apologized for not responding sooner. Eleven days elapsed until they finally found a date to schedule someone to come out to inspect the work, but it wouldn't be until May 5, 2011. This was six weeks after my original complaint regarding the job! Once their guy showed up he admitted the installers screwed up and used the wrong strike plates, didn't position the screws properly, etc. These issues prevented the doors from sealing properly. He stated he had to order the parts in order to conduct the repairs, which was understandable. However, it has now been almost another six weeks and we still haven't seen or heard from anybody from Window Concepts. Their customer service and responsiveness is pathetic to say the least as it is now going on 3 months and they still haven't been able to handle a few simple door repairs. I will be contacting someone else to conduct the repairs and then sending Window Concepts the bill. I threatened to do so previously but I guess they didn't believe me. Enough is enough!

I saw them at the home and patio show and scheduled a bid. They came out on time but didn't bring a ladder to look in the attic. I received 30% off for allowing them to use my address on a flyer card. The following week, I see a television ad for 50% off insulation. No mention of this during our conversation of the 30% off. I would have waited a week. They scheduled a "materials visit" which was 2 weeks out. I had to reschedule and the closest time was another 2 week out. The "materials" inspector was rather grumpy and also showed up without a ladder to get into the attic. I waited almost two weeks to find out when they were going to install. I called and they scheduled it 2 weeks later. (8 weeks since I signed up and gave them a deposit). The installers called and asked if they could come early since someone else had canceled and they weren't informed about it from their office. They were good and did the job. Although when they left I noticed marks on my wall from where they leaned their ladder. (at least they brought one). A couple of weeks later I got a call from the sales guy saying that when we filled out the paper work, he had forgotten to put in the percentage for the interest (if I didn't pay it off within 6 months) and could he stop by that night. Fine. He called later to say that he couldn't make it but could he stop by the next night? Fine. I returned home that night to a message from their office saying that I needed to schedule an appointment with him. Which I thought I had when I talked to him. So I rescheduled again for the following night. I explained my dissatisfaction with the timing and the additional 20% I could have saved if I waited a week. He was going to talk to his bosses and the owner to see what they could do and get back to me on Monday. Three weeks later I got my warranty and a thank you card. Needless to say, I will not be using this company and I'm telling everyone I know not to use them.

There was someone who knocked on our door asking if they could quote the windows and asked for a time to do the quote. I specifically asked them how long it would take. They said for 2 windows it would be about 30 minutes to 45 minutes. The salesman to do the estimate did come at the scheduled time. It took way beyond 30 to 45 minutes. He sat and explaned how the window was and good things about it. In a little too much detail, although to stop and he didn't read our body language. He shared with us about the child safety locked which we liked because we do have two little ones. However, didn't show us the actual lock because once installed and I saw it, it was very cheap and not worth mentioning. We did actually take the quote, so I would expect it to be a little longer, but he was there for over 2 hours and my kids were hungry and we had to make dinner while he was still working out the numbers. He didn't tell us the major points that the inside trim was not going to be the same size. He indicated that we could still use the blinds we had, didn't say that we would have to redrill holes to put them up and that the trim would be wider. He did explain how the windows worked. And did give us a nice idea with the livingroom window to do a wider panel in the middle so we'd actually see more, which I do like very much. The kids room window I wish he would have said which side the screen window would be on and that it was only on one side. I thought the whole window would have a screen, but that is not the case it's only on one side so we can only open the window one way. It was weeks before we heard from them. They did say it would take 6 weeks to get in, but I would have expected a call to say looks like the windows will come in at such and such a date. I had to call to find out. Then we scheduled and I took time off of work and they called the night before and said they couldn't come. I don't ahve the kind of flexiblity where I could just go to work then the next day and not loose the vacation day. It seems to me that the office staff does not actually estimate how long it takes to put the windows in. So then the guys are rushed to go to the next job which is why the quality is not as high or why they may not clean the mess in the yard after themselves because they have to rush to the next job. The next appointment time they did come that day, but were late but did call. The men did come to install it. I wrote about that above. They did show me how to take the window in and out which was good. They were pleasant and respectiful. But the quality of the work I would not grade high. The trim was not flush against the frame in a couple places, the window trim on the outside is not square and they left a mess outside, including a cigeratte butt which I really didn't like. So overall they were okay, but not great. The windows themselves I think are very good. The guys who came to install were very respectful and did go straight to work.

It didn't go well. Two men, Scott and Dane, arrived and inspected the soffitts. They wanted to provide their estimate when they could speak to my husband and I at the same time. I told them that my schedule is much more flexible than my husband's and that I could relay the information. They asked if their receptionist, Nancy, had told me they prefer to speak to both decision makers for estimates to which I replied in the negative. One of them then said ,"I don't care if she has 4 kids. She has to go." The gentleman also badmouthed the previous work done on the soffitts, and ultimately, they left without providing any information at all.

I had to cancel my appointment with them twice due to extremely cold weather. However, they were not timely for our third scheduled appointment. They were to arrive between 8am-10am, but they weren't able to come until very late in the afternoon. Therefore, I had to cancel that appointment as well. They did arrive just before 10am for our forth appointment, and they did a fine job. Both of the workers were smokers, and the odor from their clothes lingered in my home; I didn’t like that. I do have to say that they were polite, worked efficiently, and answered all of my questions.

We have been satisfied with the products that they offer, specifically the shower enclosure and window that was installed. I didn't feel like the fit and finish of the installation was worth the value that we had paid for the materials. I think this is the only negative that there was throughout the whole process of dealing with them. The crew was prompt and on time. They were willing to work with our schedules, and they did well. There were no major confrontations. However, I didn't feel like the level of craftsmanship that should have been there in the finish work was actually there. We would probably use them again for windows, but probably not for anything else.

The materials are excellent and the installation was done very well - it is not perfect in the interior finishing, but this is an older house so I don't expect it to be perfect. The work on the egress window was done in one long day by a 3 person crew. In the pit they dug they found a cast iron pipe along the outside of the foundation. Work then stopped while I tracked down a plumber to come and inspect it to determine what it was there for and if it could be removed. They were able to finish the egress (after a plumber for which I paid separately determined it could be demolished). Window Concepts' office was willing to keep them on my job but needed to be assured I would get a plumber out quickly - they had wanted to move them to another job. The crew worked until late evening to get it done right. Eric was a good crew leader - made the process easier for me when the underground pipe issue came up. Eric was also back with one crew member to install the new back door - in January. It was initially set to be installed in December but due to the weather was postponed. It was postponed a second time due to illness of the crew. The door installation was also good but not perfect as the trim is slightly askew, however that may be due to my older house being not squared up! All in all, it is a pleasure to work with this company - they have good communications set up. I especially appreciate the professionalism of the office staff. I primarily talked with Joanne.

They were very good. I used them because Angie's List gave a good report on them. I was very satisfied. The final project finished up about a week ago. They did it in two phases, one was before the Christmas holiday and then I had them stop to rest of the project until after Christmas though. They just finished. I would hire them again for something that I needed done.

Overall a good experience. They installed 3 replacement windows and wrapped the outside of the windows plus wrapped another window I had replaced myself. They discovered my old windows had lead paint and did the appropiate measures to make sure my house was not contaminated. The quality of the windows seems fine even though I have never head of the brand they use. The only complaint I had was having to haggle with the salesman for the price. He first started out at $2650. I told him I wasn't interested at that price and then he offered me $2300. I told him I wanted to get other bids, but as he was leaving he made me one "final" offer of $2200. I was indecisive and he then told me he would throw in the window wrap for the 4th window and I finally agreed. I also got a bid from Home Depot and they came in at $2300 so the $2200 price seemed reasonable. I would have liked to not have to haggle for such a small job but just be aware of this if you use these guys. The windows took about a month to order. Installtion was done by 2 guys and only took about 4 hours. Overall I am happy with the windows and installation.

Everything from the sales presentation to the install was as good as I could have hoped, although we did feel that the price was pretty high. Simonton windows are excellent windows with a guarantee to match, so I guess time will tell. The installer and his crew did an immaculate job and everything was cleaned up before they left. The new windows are great!

They were totally incompetent. Drew, the sales person they sent, couldn't answer any of my questions, kept phoning his office during the consultation to get answers, and didn't even have a business card. He then gave me an estimate that was much higher than any of the others that I had received. Their ad offered a 30% discount, and I feel that they raised the price of the doors to compensate for this.

As part of what Window Concepts agreed to do, they were supposed to get a replacement window sash for a broken one that was supplied by another company. Though we could have contacted the manufacturer ourselves to get the sash, Window Concepts insisted that they get the sash. The work was delayed to the end of the summer, since Window Concept's distributor for this manufacturer was different from the distributor that supplied the windows. They failed to keep us informed of the reason for the delays. I have to give them credit in that they fulfilled their agreement to secure the sash, and that they completed the work requested. The workmanship was very good. I was disappointed in that our own scheduling conflicts required them to install the broken window prior to their receipt of the replacement sash. I would use Window Concepts again, but would take a better look at the quality of the products they have to offer, since most of the windows they installed were our own. The reason we went to Window Concepts for this installation, though they didn't supply five of the six windows, is that Simonton listed them as a distributing company.

I had 12 vinyl replacement windows replaced by Window Concepts of MN. The job from start to finish was superb! I am definitley one of those consumers that does their homework. I had been thinking of doing this job for almost a year. I spoke with several different window companies over that time. I certainly felt the most comfortable with their perticular salesman. Of all the companies he had the most knowledge, not only on the product, the installation process, but even the city codes. The installers had a great system to work the most efficient, but also very clean and payed much attention to detail. I felt very comfortable with the entire process and would personally recomend Window Concepts of MN to a friend!
