with my insurance company. My agent just gave me an 800 number and washed his
hands of the situation. Suppressing how many lunch brakes I spent on hold.
Windows Concepts spent a lot of time working with my
insurance company and I, they where able to 'cut through' the paper work.
The crew was excellent, They cleaned up after them
self's no nails or scraps of siding. The fascia work looks exceptional. The
work was done when the tempter was in the mid 40^s. I an happy to say that the
siding was installed so that it could expand and contract with the changing of
the season. So often vinyl siding is not installed properly and will buckle in
the summers heat. Not this siding they did a great job.
The window ratings that they gave me were for COG (Center of Glass) on a 1and quot; glass cube. This is not the whole door/window rating. The sales guy was not aware of the difference. Given the frames, I don't think the whole window ratings could be nearly as good as the COG ratings. The sales guy was also not aware that different windows will have different ratings with the NFRC. A slider is different from a double hung is different from a casement is way different from sliding glass doors.
Not enough knowledge and the product looked questionable to me. I am definately not doing business with Window Concepts of MN.
When I called to follow up/complain to the office, I could not get a call back. Now, this was at the end of the federal tax rebate period for energy efficient doors/appliances, so I gave them a break, assuming they were extra busy at the end of the year. However, the new year came and went (when the rebate deadline was done) and they were still not returning my calls. Finally, they did come out to fix the aesthetic problems. However, they insisted the screen door was fine, which I still find hard to accept (it either doesn't latch when it closes, even with the screen insert in, or it slams so hard you have to jump out of the way -- not the level of service I expected for the price. I'm quite sure they mounted the pneumatic cylinder in the wrong place on the door.
Finally, during the sales process we had decided to get a screen door with two window panels with a horizontal bar separating them. To change the door from windows to screens we have to remove the panels and replace them. We chose this style over one with a sliding window pane so that we could have both panels screened for extra air flow. When the screen door came, they only gave us on screen panel, which negates the benefit and just makes it lessconvenient. Well, the deal was done and they had no interest in accomodating us. Finally they said they could order the second screen panel but that we would have to pay the $45 for it. After we paid $4500 for the project they can't throw in a $45 screen that we expected to have in the first place? Unbelievable and almost insulting! I refused to do it on principle.
Note I gave a B to quality for the quality of the windows, not the install. I gave a B on price as it was good after negotiating it down.
