I have know of the company for about 30 years and have been taking my own vehicles in for about 10 years. They have been able to solve issues the dealership could not at a lesser cost. The staff do very good work and are pleasant to work with. They are very knowledgeable mechanics and can handle almost any issue you bring to them. I have a high comfort level taking my car to them. I have had no problem scheduling a service. I usually call for an appointment that fits my schedule easily.

What stands out most is their thoroughness and their competence. They communicate with you and they provide a great service overall. They work in a small space off the beaten path. It is not a ritzy place at all, it is a garage.

They are wonderful, responsible, they ask very relevant questions pertaining to any repair I need.

They were accommodating about the appointment time and transportation back to my home while the repairs were done. I was contacted with a thorough explanation of the diagnostic results and options to proceed. I followed their suggestion to replace the battery and the issue was fully resolved.

They have always been on top when it has come to servicing our cars. They have always answered our questions and quick when we would contact them. They have overall excellent customer service.

I came across The Foreign Service on Angie's List and was impressed with their member reviews. I had been looking for a good local shop and contacted them via email to setup an appointment. They got back to me the very same day and I was able to schedule an appointment a couple of days later. Having owned my 1990 Nissan 300ZX for the past twelve years, I was interested in seeing how she's holding up and wanted to have it inspected. They recommended their 30,000 Mile Assessment which would check the overall condition of the vehicle as well as inspecting all belts and fluids. I arrived on time and was greeted by Betsy (and a couple of friendly cats) and my car was quickly brought inside for inspection. I was glad they had Paul, a technician with expertise in Datsun/Nissan cars on staff to give my vehicle a thorough looking over. A drive belt was found to be loose, which I was aware of, and they took care of it on the spot. Overall inspection was completed in a timely manner with nothing else being found in need of any immediate attention. Talked with the owner Stew, while my car was being checked over. I am glad to have found a reputable local service shop, as it is a nice alternative to having to go back to the dealer. Was very impressed with their service. Although my car has been put away for it's long winter nap, I would not hesitate to return here for any future oil changes or needed auto repair. Would absolutely refer both family and friends. Stewart resolved several nagging issues with the car that other shops had not been able to resolve during the last four years. The job was performed quickly and Stewart called several times concerning new discoveries and seeking direction before proceeding with the work. Their hourly rate is quite reasonable considering the level of knowledge and skill they possess. I think I have finally found the mechanic for the '85 900S in The Cities.

I first went to this service company when they were located in St. Paul and continued with them when they moved to Roseville. For years I had to take a taxi to work in downtown St. Paul after I dropped the car off and then another when I went to pick the car up. Sometimes I would get a ride into work and then just have to take the taxi to pick the car up. Over the years the taxi costs climbed and the last time I had to use a taxi service I paid about $40 all told for both trips. At some point the service vendor made a loaner car available for scheduling and I used that. The vendor had while-you-wait oil changes and I would take a couple of hours of vacation to bring the car in and have it serviced while I waited. The last time I used this vendor the loaner car was not available, though I had scheduled it. I asked if I could just have a ride into work and then I would take a taxi back to pick up the car. I wouldn't have minded in the slightest if my own car had been used to drive me back to work. But they had just implemented a rule about not driving customers back to work or home when a car was dropped off. I pointed out that I had been a customer for over 20 years and wondered if that didn't warrant an exception. The sales person asked the owner and he said no exceptions. So I took a taxi to work and one back to pick up the car and never used this vendor again.

Our Volkswagen Jetta TDI (diesel) was getting very tired and sluggish. We got estimates from two independent shops and the VW dealer. The Foreign Service estimate was midway between the other two. They fixed the problem and the car runs like new. We've done business with them several times in the past and have always been pleased with the work. If you're looking for a trustworthy shop that is knowledgeable and customer-oriented, this is the place.

I honestly believe that one of the best things you can have is an auto mechanic you can trust, and I absolutely trust them. They are completely honest with me and try to meet my needs rather than just make money off me, for example, they asked me how long I plan to keep my car to help me decide if I wanted to have a particular repair done.

All of the staff are very friendly and knowledgable and I highly recommend them.

We've been customers of theirs for 5 years. The mechanics are very knowledgeable and work very much as a team with us; if we need repairs, they let us know which repairs are more important than others, and we find them to very trustworthy. They have a small staff, but they have two women that work there as well who are very knowledgeable about cars. They're also very environmentally-conscientious, so we know that they are disposing of things properly. We've been very satisfied with them!

Stew is a scientist, not a mechanic. He applies his scientific knowledge and method to the problem at hand to consistently produce the best results.

The experience has been good overall. They are very thorough and forthright about what needs to be done, what can wait, and the consequences. We typically have used cars, and they've informed us of what work needs to be done and what work wouldn't be worth doing. We really trust them and they're always willing to answer any questions. They're also friendly and good to deal with!
