In the past, I used another exterminator and was satisfied with their work. However, they were not able to come out for about a week and I wanted someone to come out as soon as possible. I called Laughlin's Pest Control and they were able to work with me to find a time for someone to come out that day. The person who came to the house explained the process, which is pretty much spray the inside and outside of the house. I was disappointed, however, that the person could not answer any of my questions. I wanted to know: would I see alive spiders for one day or several days and would spraying the bird seed outside harm the birds. He really couldn't answer either one. Maybe I should have been more forceful in wanting answers, but when I used my previous exterminator, they seemed to be able to answer my questions. I give them an A because of price, responsiveness and punctuality. I think the quality of the job is probably an A, because I believe all of the spiders are dead now, but they weren't for a few days (which may be typical, but I don't know).

It was fine. They used live traps and peanut butter bait. The squirrels were caught. They had to be destroyed.

We thought we had a yellow jacket nest somewhere around our house, because we were seeing so many wasps, and twice in the bathroom we heard buzzing. On inspection, though, he couldn't find anything. However, he said that if we found a nest later we could call him to come back, and he'd credit the cost of the inspection towards removing it. (We never found a nest. They turned out to be coming from a neighbor's yard). We discussed some preventive spraying but I decided against it. FYI, for people who are seeing a lot of wasps but don't know where they're coming from, just keep watching. If the nest is on your property, you'll see them coming and going.

They responded to my call promptly, scheduled the work quickly and gave me an exact price on the phone. The exterminator explained what he was going to do and told me that if there were still signs of bees 24 hours later, I should call and they would come out again.

He was very knowledgeable, we ended up finding out we didn't have mice but instead a bat, we signed up for the quarterly service to cover 4 inspections per year. He was very professional and on time.

They were timely, knowledgeable and we signed a year's contract with them. They are quick to answer any questions that we have and the bug and rodent problem is no longer. We would recommend them to anyone.

They basically called me a liar when I let them know that there were still squirrels in my attic. This has gotten progressively worse. When I replaced the gutters, I asked them to make sure there were no openings for squirrels to get in, which they didn't find. I don't know how the squirrels are getting in, but they are somehow and it's a definite problem. They gnawing I hear is no longer in the walls, but in the closet itself. I don't want to open the closet door to have a squirrel jump out and attack me. I'm afraid they're going to damage my furniture, antiques, clothes, or even cause a house fire.

"I WOULD LIKE TO SAY I AM SORRY IF YOU HAD A PROBLEM WITH OUR SERVICE AND IF I CAN DO ANYTHING TO RESOLVE WHATEVER ISSUES ARE STILL THERE I CERTAINLY WILL. MY RECORDS SHOW WE TOOK CARE OF THE SQUIRRELS IN DECEMBER OF 2005 AND AGAIN IN JUNE OF 2006. AS FAR AS I CAN SEE WE SEALED THE HOLES ON 6-29-06, SO I DON'T BELIEVE WE WERE EVEN TRAPPING AT YOUR HOUSE OVER THE 4TH OF JULY. WE REMOVED 8 SQUIRRELS DURING THE JOB WE DID IN DECEMBER 2005 AND 6 SQUIRRELS DURING JUNE 2006. TO MY RECOLLECTION WE DID NOT PROVIDE YOU WITH INADEQUATE SERVICE AND EACH TIME WE DID THE JOB IT WAS COMPLETED AND THE HOLES WERE SEALED."

They were very helpful on the phone and very easy to get a hold of. They were able to come in right away and address the problem with some poison traps. After they left I had some additional questions so I gave them a call. They were very helpful again and told me to call any time.

It went very well. A guy named Mike answered my phone call right away and talked with me about my needs. He suggested coming out for an inspection in several days, but scheduled the next day when I said the animal noises were keeping me awake at night. The inspector, Brian, arrived right on time, seemed knowledgeable and thorough, and was pleasant and answered all my questions clearly. He was careful to clean up after himself (when insulation fell out of the attic) and not to scratch my hardwood floor with his ladder.

I am very pleased with the company. They are always friendly and polite when I call. The technician is knowledgeable and courteous. They show up on time, follow up and make the problem go away. What more could you ask for. If you have pests, give them a call.

I am the Lead Staff Counselor at a residential home for developmentally-disabled men. On the morning of Saturday, August 18th, a squirrel found its way into the house and came through a bedroom ceiling panel. The resident was watching TV at the time and needless to say was very frightened. I called five companies and Critter Control was the only one to return my call the same day. When Josh returned my call he informed me what the price would be. I told him I'd need to get this okayed by the owner of my company and that I would call him back right away. I got the job okayed and called Josh to tell him. He's said he'd be coming from Woodbury and that it would be awhile. Josh arrived and located the squirrel. He tried to catch it but by then the squirrel was pretty scared. Josh left a live trap and said he's be back the next day. The squirrel did not get trapped overnight but when Josh returned on Sunday, and set up three more traps the squirrel did finally go into one of them.

Greg was very courteous when he met me at the door. Upon viewing the location of the bat, he expressed some concern as to how difficult it might be. When he returned with the "Sticky Board" the whole operation was over very quickly. After removing the bat to his truck, Greg returned with the bill. I paid him and then we toured the house looking at potential openings where the bat could have entered. Greg said he will come back later next week to perform an inspection on the exterior of the house looking for bat entries.

I had called a maintenance company about patching a hole in my eave and the woman who came out to do the estimate said that it was squirrel damage and I would have to get rid of the squirrels before they could patch the hole. She recommended Critter Control. Though I didn't hear back from them after the first couple of messages I left them, my persistence paid off and Greg came out the day after we talked. He set up two traps and instructed me to call whenever I saw a squirrel in a trap - anytime, even weekends. Every time I called (during the day) he was out to empty the trap within three hours. He was going to be unavailable for a few days in the middle of our enterprise so he sprang the traps so squirrels wouldn't be trapped for days on end. He told me that usually they trap six or so squirrels per nest so we probably had another nest nearby or we were getting a lot of neighborhood squirrels. I have had no problems with squirrels since he finished work several months ago!

They came out and thought it was a rat, so they set traps and put down poison. This went on for a month. After that they thought maybe I would need to get a plumber to find out where the animal was coming from. That day I found a dead squirrel in my basement that had eaten the poison. The men that came to my house were very nice, but I don't have much confidence in this company.

He came without any protection whatsoever. He told me to step back and squirted some stuff in the hole in my stoop and killed them. He told us to seal up the hole in the stoop, which we did. Did not remember job cost. I've been very pleased with them.

I had called after hearing some noise in the attic. I was afraid it was a squirrel. I called and someone was out the next morning. He found no holes large enough for a squirrel but did find a hole big enough for mice and mice tracks in the snow. He left poison in the attic, basement, garage, kitchen and 3 places outside. He also caulked the hole that the mice had been using. No evidence was found of mice in the attic so I was told they had only been there recently. Overall I was satisfied with the experience. However, I was told that any mice that died wouldn't smell and later told by other people they would. We haven't smelled anything so far but it's still winter. I was a little worried about the safety of the pesticide when I was pregnant but was told there should be no problems. The representative showed up on time and the work took less than 1 hour.

I had a pervasive mice problem. The company came out 4 times, once my son even slept through their knock on the door. I at first thought the price was high, but their customer service and tenacity more than paid for itself through the end of the problem. I'm very satisfied.

They showed up 45 minutes late due to a mis-scheduling (their fault)which they apologized about, but did not offer a price break for. The guy who did the work seemed efficient and knowledgeable, and I wound up signing up for their year-round service which includes quarterly visits for insect control and checkups on animal activity. I think this was a good move. We'll be using them for this whole year at least, and go from there.

Perhaps I should call a Pied Piper. The city told me to call a private exterminator. I have not followed up on calling anyone because I was so frustrated. We have not had any more incidents.
Response from Laughlin's Pest Control
"IN RESPONSE TO THIS REPORT, I APOLOGIZE IF THE CUSTOMER DID NOT RECEIVE THE INFORMATION THAT SHE WAS LOOKING FOR. IF THE RAT HAD ENTERED THROUGH THE SEWER SYSTEM, AS IS THE CASE 99% OF THE TIME, WE GENERALLY TELL PEOPLE TO CALL THE CITY TO HAVE THE SEWERS BAITED WITH RAT POISON. IF THE RAT HAD ENTERED THROUGH THE CRAWL SPACE, WE COULD EITHER DO EXCLUSION WORK OR BAIT WITH POISON ON THE INTERIOR & EXTERIOR OF THE HOME. AGAIN, I APOLOGIZE IF I DID NOT EXPLAIN THIS CORRECTLY AND I WOULD GLADLY COME OUT AND PERFORM A FREE INSPECTION TO FIGURE OUT WHATS GOING ON. SINCERELY, CRAIG W. PETERSON SUPERVISOR"

He ruled out squirrels (unless they were red) because there was no visible damage to vents or other entries. He gave me some suggestions about what I might hear/observe to determine if there were mice or bats in my walls. He could not tell from the evidence. I was left with two estimates for removal of either mice or bats ($350 and $1100 respectively) and a reminder that the inspection fee was applicable to either cost. The inspector was very nice and seemed to be thorough, but obviously I still have a problem and really no idea how to solve.
